Ich finde diese Interpretation des Klaus Nomi Songs "Total Eclipse" zwar nicht schlecht, aber es hätte doch bitte etwas mehr in dem alten "New Wave- Stil" präsentiert werden können. Musikalisch und stimmlich wirklich ganz gut gelungen. Aber, ich mag keine "Hüpfdohle", Die im Takt dann noch auf der Bühne herumspringt und offenbar den Text absolut nicht verinnerlicht hat! Das entspricht, meiner Meinung nach, eben nicht dem eigentlichen Sinne des großartigen Künstlers Klaus Nomi und Was er damit musikalisch ausgedrückt hat. Eben eine Warnung vor einem "atomaren Krieg", dem damaligem und leider auch dem heutigen "Zeitgeist" entsprechend... . Es ist wirklich sehr Schade, daß dieser "Ausnahmekünstler" Klaus Nomi mit 39 Jahren gestorben ist, denn ich denke, er hätte bis heute, uns Alle sicherlich als Songwriter und Promoter von einigen musikalischen Projekten, doch noch sehr überrascht. Marc is a great performer, and I am VERY appreciative of him keeping Klaus' memory alive. Mr Nomi is one who desperately needs not to be forgotten. That said, Marc doesn't have the "zing" to really pull off the song. But it's a worthy effort. I would love it had I never heard the original.
This is disgusting... It's lacking any connection between the lyrics and the show, these guys are just some fancy showups... Nomi's version is, I would say, kind of noble, tragicomic, he makes you believe him every word.
Yeah, this is some kind of statement about the total degradation of everything between then and now or at least 2001, but then you watch the 2008 video of three little girls sharing a piano with this same song and your faith in humanity is restored.
hm... somehow it doesn't work out. It sounds a lot like Eurovision and not bad at that, but neither does the soprano stuff hit as hard as it should, nor is the dark humor celebrated enough. Feelgood song with lyrics about the apocalypse. Too bad there isn't a better production of Nomi's version and it's always good to see Marc Almond, while this one has its moments, it is comparably faceless. Nomi will be missed forever - he just died too young.
