Such a good video! I bought a vintage cardigan on line. It is made of natural fabric and super well made. But it is two inches too long on the hem and the sleeves. I was just thinking of shorten it. This is exactly what I need. I don't mind a regular hem and it is easier for me! Thanks. Anastasia. By the way, you look good in that polka dot dress.
this is exactly what I was looking for today! Shortening a cardigan I love which I thrifted with ruined edge at the bottom and blind stich too!!! yey!!! So happy I've found you! very easy and clear video! Thanks from Italy! 😃
This is very informative! Thank you! Any chance you have a video on how to sew and serge on sweaters that may have an open knit design. I have an old sweater with many larger (dime to quarter in size) holes.
Thanks for this video. Always thought twice abt cutting a knit sweater. I hv no surger, now to hand stitch that raw edge, so not to come apart. Would that work? Thanks. Great video
I have a sweater with a pocket and I was thinking to hem through the pocket. Do you think that it would be ok to follow this technique in the same way?
joshua martinez yeah you could totally sew back on the rib knit at them hem. I’v done that in some other tutorials & wanted to do something different this time. Thank you for watching 🎀
Your machine should have an overcast stitch (unless it’s a super super basic machine). I’d check your manual and see which overcast stitch your machine has. Then you just sew down the raw edge and it’ll do the stitch (sort of if you were to do a zigzag stitch down the raw edge). It looks like the serge stitch you saw in this video.
დAnu Kaliდ it looks like a ladder with the right side missing the vertical line or one could say it’s a straight stitch with horizontal lines intersecting it. Have fun sewing!
how do you change a chunky wool turtleneck sweater into a cardigan? i bought that sweater at thrift store but when it's arrived, it's to big for me.. i want to turn it into a cardigan, like want to look like an oversize cardigan but i didn't know how..
Great idea! I think I should do a video on it. Give me a month. Or, if you want, you can sign up for a virtual sewing class with me at sewanastasia.com and we can knock that project out ASAP! Let's get creative!
Thank you for the video but a whole step was missing? Once you pinned the hem you skipped the step where you folded the hem back on itself. I had to rewatch a few times to see what you had done there. Please explain a little clearer for first timers. I found that quite confusing even though it turned out to be quite simple. Great videos though 👍
I love it !!! Now i need to crop all my cardigans
Yesssss

I’m happy you were able to alter the sweater. Thank you for the kind compliment on the dress 👗 ♥️

Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching Sew Anastasia and happy sewing!
Love your style and your tutorials, Anastasia! Thank you 🙂
Thank you 😊

HUmmmmm. I might. I do have a bunch of sweater videos. I do love sweaters! Take a look at the channel.
Too cool, love it
Thanks a bunch! I'm stoked that you loved it!
Very informative - thank you
Thank you for watching 😊
good idea using the blind hem for this sweater! I have a sweater dress that needs this same technique, thanks!
You're so welcome!
The original hem would have made a cute waistband, to cinch the waist. How would we do that?
I love that idea. You could put elastic in it & get a clip buckle for it.
Thanks for this video. Always thought twice abt cutting a knit sweater. I hv no surger, now to hand stitch that raw edge, so not to come apart. Would that work? Thanks. Great video
Yes you can hand stitch it.
@@SewAnastasia are you able to show video? I tried, but it looked awful, si I took pins out. It is quilted vest. Thanks
love it
Thank you for the video! What type of serger do you recommend for a beginner who wants to dive into garment sewing?
One from the thrift store.
Great teacher
Awwww thank you 😊
I have a sweater with a pocket and I was thinking to hem through the pocket. Do you think that it would be ok to follow this technique in the same way?
Totally. It will just shorten your pocket bag. Thank you for watching :)
Could I hand-stitich the hem instead? I am extremely good with hand work, but terrible at doing a blind stitch on my machine. What you you think?
You totally can!
@@SewAnastasia Great! I'll give it a go! And Great Videos!
Nice but I would have cut off the red border trim and sewn it at the bottom of the desired length to make it look Original but just Shorter

Either way would work out great. I prefer a sweater without ribbing on the bottom, it's less "grabby"
Me too!
This tutorial is awesome, thank you so much!! Excited to try it ✨
Your so welcome! Tag me in your finished scarf & I’ll repost it!

Can you do a crop for a blazer please?
Totally! Keep an eye out for it! Keep on sewing!
You awesome.
Thank you 😊

Oh sorry about that. Thank you for watching!
why are you talking so loud. i watched a video of you and you talked more natural in that one.
Why are you screaming?
LOL I am not.
@@SewAnastasia yes you are it’s super loud
I’m glad I have a mute button 😬.
The nicest thing that you just had to say huh? Couldn't keep that one to your self?
@@SewAnastasia nope 🤷♀️
Didn’t your mom teach you to say nothing at all if you have nothing nice to say? You must be really poorly raised.
@@annie_xo Nope, but my dad did. My parents raised me well. Thanks for your concern. 😉
