Hey Matt! I'm not quite sure how to start this, so I'll just say it: I don't think you understand the impact you've had on the world with your videos. I've ran into so many people on backpacking trips, canoe trips, fishing trips, etc. that have watched your content and always, ALWAYS have great things to say about it. You've made this Oklahoma boy go out and buy an UL canoe and start doing trips in the BWCA with my dog. It's a big change from my local lakes and rivers, but what an amazing journey. I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for everything you've done.
I can understand the mental break from it all. Just know that those of us that are a part of 'that' world think and care about you. Hopefully we'll see you again soon. God bless my friend.

Seems like Maybe Matthew is taking a much needed break. A lot of creators have walked away altogether because of the intense demands of constantly creating and editing.

My favorite part of this video is either 1:20:07 when Rueger brought you the stick or when Funk thought you were fishing in the middle of chaos LOL
I remember Mat t and Monty went over once in rapids on a boundary waters trip and the viewer can see what matt doesn't know at that time - his map case and maps just float up out and away. So it has happened before but not in deep water. Coming after the fall Matt took on that log a year or so back I hope his confidence stays intact. That was a close call - he landed lucky.

Just meant he doesn't owe any of us another video if he doesn't want to continue making them (or can't for whatever reason), but I hope he would still get a kick out of the nice comments new people make as they find his channel. I haven't seen anything where he said he wasn't going to keep doing them. And I think we would all love to see him continue if that's what he wants.

As someone who lives in the same region, There is basically no snow anywhere near Posa's stomping grounds this year. Furthermore, temps have been extremely warm so far too.

Wow. A lesson learned. Don't be on the big water when a storm like that is coming. Thankfully everyone was able to get to land safely without injury or losing too much gear. Could have been much worse.
Thanks for posting everything and putting the warning on the video so that others won't make the same mistake of judgement. Better to be safe and change plans that to discover you're in a situation where everything can go sideways in the blink of an eye. Mother Nature doesn't fool around.

Its been a soggy winter on the east coast of Canada. Wondering if its been the same where Matt is and he just hasn't been out and about much yet this winter. I live in the same region as Posa. There hasn't been any snow until this past week. Lake ice is not as thick as it usually would be also.

well we all know that he likes to pull stunts… and he did finish one another time for about a month a year or so ago they came back to tell us a little bit about where he been… Maybe he took off or someplace exotic and decided to stay longer this time… And he surprises when he gets back… On the other hand No this is rather long it's really not like him because you always saw attentive… However Aaron has access to his UA-cam page he said she respond to some comments on here cause he couldn't keep up with it all… And she hasn't commented either… Obviously he still has a UA-cam page… Unless for some reason there's some sort of contractual agreement or something that he can't get back in ... I don't know how you two works... But even if he wasn't out much he would still tell us look here I am at home running with my dogs and he hasn't done that either… Well it would be nice to know that he's safe… But he's not in the middle of the ocean Whole bunch of other people because they drank beer and ended up going too far downstream… But hopefully we'll find out eventually… I guess we'll all stay tuned for the further adventures… I know I intend to

This is truly a lesson for so many people when it comes to what they get upset over. "Stuff can be replaced; people and dogs cannot." Remember what is truly important: ride the wave, survive, and have a fun story after.
Please get vests for your dogs. Many search and rescue dogs have drowned on rough lakes and they are in top physical condition.
