- Hello and welcome back to my channel,
in this video I will be showing you how I created the pocketing tool path to surface my waste board.
It's a slight different video to my usual style but I feel I needed to show you where I've been for the last month.

Thank you - Навчання та стиль
Nice work Dean, great to see your machine cutting!
Thank you, it's taken me a little bit longer than I would have like to get to this stage as I had a few issues with finishing my workshop renovation but I'm glad I'm finally there ☺️.
How can people say using a cnc is cheating? My brain nearly exploded watching this. Lots of tech knowledge and skills required. I want one. 😊
It's a lot to take in isn't it? I was always scared to dip my toes in the CNC pool because of all the jargon but I have to admit, Vectric Aspire makes it really easy ☺️
@@DeanMakes how much is one of these? Dean if you don't mind me asking.
@@karlpopewoodcraft they start at around £1337 for the kit including VAT, this can also depend on the specific items you order so if you order end mills and accessories the price will increase ☺️.
@@DeanMakes I think if I got into a product where I was recreating the same thing over and over I would be able to justify the cost but at the moment I have other priorities in the shop. One day though 😉
I've never really seen something like this. Cool machine
Thank you, It's going to get cooler 😎, I promise.
Nice! I wish i had a CNC machine too!
Thank you, I have to admit that it's been a complete game changer for me.
Very useful video, looking forward to the next ones.
Thank you, hopefully I'll have something new by the weekend ☺️
I know nothing about CNCs but it looks like you did a good job 👍
Thank you, I need to adjust the router slightly as there is a small ridge on the right hand side of the cut. I think that is because it's not 100% square in the mount ( that's user error though 🤦♂️)
I feel like a kid at Christmas waiting to open a gift. Cant wait to see all the things you make with this!! Very nice video!!!
Thank you for your comment, I can't wait to show you all what I'm planning on making in upcoming videos 😉
Great video, just recently finished building my workbee
Thank you for watching, I hope this video helped you out a little, have fun with your new Bee 🤘
I really love to see these projects. Same as 3d printing. But i'm lacking patience with tge software programms. To figure everything out. Great video mate!
I'm sure if I can do it you can, Vectric Aspire is so straight forward and intuitive, Ooznest have some of the best instructions I've ever seen too 😁
That was great...I really would like a cnc some day
Thank you, this is just the start ☺️ hopefully I'll be creating a few projects over the next few weeks, if you do get a CNC machine feel free to ask any questions you may have 😁
@@DeanMakes thats great I have someone to ask for advice...before i even own the equipment 😀😎
Cool stuff! I’m looking toward to seeing what you can do with this bad boy!
Thank you, hopefully I'll be able to get some of the Ideas out of my head and into reality 😁
Awesome Dean. If I get an Ooznest in the future I’ll definitely be coming back to this video 🙌🏻
Thank you, if you do ever go down the CNC machine route, feel free to ask anything and I'll do my best to answer your questions ☺️
Tidy job!
Thank you Andy 👍, hopefully I'll have something to show as a project next week
Well done video!👍 One day I'll have one of these. Can't wait to see what you do with it👍
Thank you, hopefully you'll get one 🤘, I have a few projects lined up for filming this week 😁
Looks like a pretty sweet cnc setup. Good choice in kit mate!
Thank you, I'm really liking the screw drive on this machine, it seems alot more rigid than my old kit.
thanks!
No problem, I hope it helped you 😃. Thanks for watching.
First comment 🤣
Nice little video I mite have to knock up a design and come rob ya cnc to make a new sticker board lol
Definitely, once your ready let's go for it b🤘
Hi Dean ,just watched you making a spoiler board and a newbie to CNC and have bought and built the same machine mine is a 750 x 750, the problem I am having is that I cannot surface to the end (front of machine), I intend to surface one end then turn it round to do the other. I am running the same bit but just get the message " outside of machine limits " .How did you work out your machine working area ? and did you have any issues like this ? I am using Vcarve pro , so just trying to work out if its a machine issue or a programme issue ||
Hi Sy,
Firstly, please accept my apologies for not getting back to you sooner as I've only just received notification of your comment.
With V carve and aspire when you set your safe heights (under the tool path tabs and then 'set material') you can change your rapid movement heights and gap above material. when I first installed Aspire these were set to around 50mm and the rapids were at 20mm. I reduced mine to 5mm on the rapid moves and 10mm on the gap above material. If they are too high to allow the Z movement you'll get a G0 or G1 warning.
This might be slightly different for yourself as I don't use clamps to hold my work down so I can run slightly lower.
I hope this helps
i'm a just about to tackle this as my machine has quite a large difference in height across the spoilboad. It looks like it also quite alot (c. 4mm). I'm worried that my first cuts will not be at the highest point and i'll end up going round then suddenly taking a massive cut. Any thoughts on an easy way to find the highest point to do the z probe there?
Hi, sorry for the late reply. Personally I'd be tempted to try and spot the higher bits by eye and mark them with a pencil. I'd then manually control the CNC with the spindle on to try and pre flatten those high spots, once your happy that they're even across the waste board I'd run a surface pass to get everything all one level.
Hope this helps.
Hi dean I followed this to the letter however my router follows the path but is above the material by approx 20mm any idea what I’m doing wrong ?
Hi,
Sorry to hear it's not working for you, the only thing I can think of off the top of my head is the work offset in your software as I've had this happen when cutting a project.
If you're on Facebook the workbee CNC group is a great resource and has many experts who'll be happy to assist.
@@DeanMakes thanks dean, it was to do with me setting work xyz after using the probe
@@wayneelmore3438 glad to hear your sorted 🙌
Great video mate. Keep them coming rj_rawcreations
Thanks buddy, I can't wait to see what you do with your WorkBee 🤘
