Wooden Cake Knife

- Hello all and welcome back,
This week I made a wooden cake knife and if you follow me over on Instagram or watched the "invasion" The Beard X 16 did you've probably seen it and heard the story of how it was a quick make that came into mind and i didn't record it.
During the live session chatting with Rich we discussed using steel wool and vinegar to ebonize wood and thought it would be cool if I made another knife and used the technique on the scales of the handle.
This video is dedicated to a few cool people I've gotten to know over the last year who I would have like to shout out on Rich's live.

@@DeanMakes I wonder how long it will keep an edge - have to be careful not to sharpen away the blade...
@@CrudeButEfficientthat's an interesting point (if you'll excuse the pun 😆) I've got a feeling it will ok as long as it's used on a soft surface it should be fine, the cake stand is HDPE but our chopping board is also beech so could potentially damage the edge, I'll have to give an update.
@@DeanMakes Yea, it all depends on the person cutting. Revisit the project in a year (or if it fails) - that would be interesting both if it's undamaged or ground down to a fillet knife... 😁
