The FBI email could be sketchy as well, odd that you'd know the owners info; I wouldn't expect that from the FBI. If you get the payment and it clears, then it's not so sketchy. There are scams where the 2nd step is pretending to be a govt agent and getting account info, I hope he sends a money order; I wouldn't want my account number stamped on a check he gets (but again, only if you have any doubt.)
As to 'hard to find cards,' I love the Nolan Ryan rookie. When I was a kid, they were only available mint for $1600 (no internet to find the bargains.) What was mint then, would be 6-8 in most cases today; finally seeing some gains. From late 2019 until now, I've been buying them. When I found out there were 3 rare versions, I made an effort to buy them (Milton Bradley is 1/30th the pop, O-Pee-Chee is 1/100th the pop and Venezuelan is such a tiny pop report it's uncertain how complete it is; but it's very rare.) Without earning a lot, I bought 3-4 Milton Bradley (I thought it was 7, but some were just off center Topps that had the white line; wrong back to be MB though), 6 O-Pee-Chee and twice I came close to Venny's (none yet.) I probably bought 50+ total, sold a few, returned a few, I've got 47 and sold 7 and returned 2 fakes and a few sellers were scammers that never sent so probably 57. This of a card I dreamed of having one some day. I'll keep a dozen, all MB (I sold the lowest grade one already, 2-3 left; 1 is being graded so I'll see if it's MB) all OPC (why sell something that rare unless the price is MJ rookie or Mantle rookie level?)
Sorry to hear you had to return them, I find the whole story odd; I'd think they'd arrest the guy and insurance would pay. How they found you unless you were selling them is beyond me. (I just noticed your PWCC comment, wow; that's crazy. They should make their stolen cards database public.)

    • @BreakoutCards

I really want to get the other Nolan Ryan variants. My name is Ryan Nolan, so I have to get them for my PC. I just picked up a centered 4 earlier this year for 500 and was thrilled to have it.
Next up is the 3 other versions, but I'll be waiting until I get a few more pre war cards and the Seaver rookie.
On the FBI side of things, I agree it can be sketchy. But I was given ample proof that it was an agent, and I did a background check as well.

Can you explain who’s money went back to who? Or if the original owners shipping insurance covered your reimbursement? And did the thief get busted with your cash, but then than cash was not returned to you? It’s a confusing 3 way money return and for educational purposes please lay out exactly who’s money went back to who; we’d all appreciate it and it’s great content! - from the way I interpreted the video, it sounded like the thief got busted and kept the money ( maybe fbi confiscated it?? And didn’t get “it” back to you) - but then original owner paid you somehow with his money; sooooo where did that come from? - great video thanks!!

More likely the Facebook seller in Georgia sent a fake e-mail claiming to be the FBI and then had Breakout Cards send the cards to a friend of his in St Louis, so now they got the cards back and have Break Out's money. When you buy stolen property and Leo finds it (state or feds) they confiscate it to return to original owner and the last buyer eats the cash loss from bad purchase. Feds don't call you, they show up to take immediate possession of said property to catalog and return to owner after processing and clearance of an open case. You don't contact original owner and ask if they want their cards back, much less get reimbursed. If feds contact you they need the cards to clear a case. If they don't, they're not feds. Either you got scammed or it's a nice story, either way sorry dude.

I didn’t have the money to by back my own property. I contacted the police but my Cards where never returned. And did the thief get busted with your cash, but then the original cash was not returned to you? It’s a confusing 3 way money return and for educational purposes please lay out exactly who’s money went back to who; we’d all appreciate it and it’s great content! - from the way I interpreted the video, it sounded like the thief got busted and kept the money ( maybe fbi confiscated it?? And then did not get “it” back to you) - but then original owner paid you somehow with his money; sooooo where did that money come from? - great video thanks!!
