    This weeks episode was a direct response to Vanlife Saga's video last weekend~ ua-cam.com/video/yyTnUvR093M/v-deo.html I hope that the altitude adjustment will allow us to be less worried about the heater failing when we take the van to elevation. Crossing my fingers it worked!🤞🏼
    Do you have a heater in your van?🔥

    I just got my heater in and will be installing soon. Thanks for the info! Off topic, but I did notice in the background that you insulated the pillar next to the window in back of the driver’s seat. I was wondering how to do that since that pillar is open to the air flow channel that runs the whole length of the van along the floor. Did you make a partition to insulate there? If so, I’m interested in how you managed that. Thanks!

      I hope your install goes well! Let me know if you have questions. It's been awhile since we did the insulation, hehe. If I remember right we added some painters tape at the bottom so that the wool couldn't pass through to the channel. I'll have to ask Katie, if we did something different I'll have to update

    If the power or battery is disconnected to the heater, do you have to reset it again?

    • @Trailvagabonds

      Sorry I must have missed this a few days ago. Reset it in what way? If it is running, power being cut to the heater isn't great. If it doesn't run its full shutdown cycle this can be a cause of carbon build up and other problems. But I don't think you will have to reset anything if you are cutting power to it when it's off. There are different remote types and I believe the digital ones store selections when power is cut so that they should function the same when power is returned.

      Oh I just realized this was on the high altitude video and not our Webasto install video. No, the settings will be stored so that you wouldn't have to run this procedure anytime lower is cut

    This absolutely does not work. The only way to do this is with an oxygen sensor and putting the heater into maintenance mode.

    Sorry, this is wrong and you're misleading folks. If you follow these instructions you are making a blind adjustment. This is supposed to be done with a CO2 meter. If you don't use a meter, now do you know what you adjusted? You are blindly making the heater run lean (overheats the burner) or rich (loads up with carbon).

    • @Trailvagabonds
      @Trailvagabonds  3 роки тому +2

      And I say that in the video more than once. I've been told it shouldn't overheat the burner however, the adjustment changes the amount of fuel going in. No temperature sensor range or glow plug timing is changed, only the fuel pump "tick". The direction this adjustment goes will only move it lean. You do the same procedure backwards to adjust it more rich. But again, I say in the video the only way this is done correctly is to have it adjusted with a CO2 meter testing the exhaust preferably at a certified Webasto dealer.

      But if you're coking up the burn chamber and re seeing the unit useless and stranding you without heat how can you possibly make it worse by doing this?

      @@jeep6242 If you were in the mountains with your 304-powered CJ7 and it wasn't running, how could you possibly make matters worse by adjusting the air/fuel mixture with the engine not running?
      Same thing here. This is a live adjustment. You need to see the value change to know that you're even going in the right direction.
