    When you say 'per' something in units is a / used to represent it? As June 2016 p2 mark scheme states, ' reject the use of a solidus /
    as being equivalent to per '

      Hi Chaitanya, in GCSE it is acceptable to use the solidus to denote 'per'. Students may write mol/dm3 at GCSE. At alevel the solidus is used to simply separate the measurement from the units eg on a graph or table heading you may write length/cm. When using per cubic decimeter or per gram we need the -1 above the unit. Thats why the mark scheme said that. Are you also looking at the examiners reports? The mark scheme is only half the story, you really need to read the ER too for those top grades.
