  • Join us for a walk as we stroll through the small narrow streets of Casares Spain.
    To say that Casares is beautiful is an understatement. It is the most picturesque ‘pueblo blanco’ for miles around and it’s definitely one of the most photographed. This enchanting, not so typical village is only nine miles from the crowded coast and it is hard to believe that it kept its original charm until this day.

      That picture gave me nightmares as a kid because of aquaphobia. but seeing it from a more closer perspective definitely helps it's a really pretty place.

    The village is painted white to deflect the sun specially during summer. Caceres is beautiful to wander in. Thanks.

      @@12OunceProphet My g-g-gmother was Carolina Maria Perera y Garcia, born in Gibraltar. Her father, Diego Garcia y Leon, was born in Casares around 1800. Who knows, maybe our ancestors knew each other. Earlier than that, the family was from Malaga and Portugal.

    I would love to see this place. In ancient world we had no last names. It was your name attached to your town. So it makes me wonder if my ancestors come from this area. Of course the new world changed one letter in my name but phonetically it's the same.

      No

    • @bichonce4049
      @bichonce4049 4 роки тому

      No, it doesn't. The origins come from the iberians and phoenicians, the emperor Julius Caesar used the thermal waters in the 61 b. C. To heal of an hepathical illness. The lady on the video says that the origin if the name is Al Qasar (the castle), but other version says that it comes from the emperor Julius CAESAR. I don't really know wich version is right. What is certain is that whaever the origin of the name is and although it has an unquestionable muslim architecture, Casares is much more old.

    Beautiful town, neat and tidy streets.
    But it looks like the entire village is empty. Only saw no more than ten folks around the parks or the streets, most elderly people. Or probably they live locked inside their homes.

    • @GrowingUpWithoutBorders

      It is a quite little mountain village and I can quite remember but if we went during siesta time, most people are inside and come out again in the last afternoon/evening time.

      its actually Spanish and Galician: from the plural of casar, casal 'farm', hence a topographic name, or a habitational name from any of numerous places called Casares or named with this word, especially in Galicia.
