Is the license transferrable? With Audyssey MultEQ-X, it is not. If I sell my Cinema 50, I want to be able to remove the license and transfer it to the new unit.
Multi EQ X lives with the unit for life. If you sell your AVR/AVP it is transferred to the new owner. I have recently sold my AVP and Audyssey organised the transfer of the license to the new owner once I contacted them to confirm I sold my unit . Ideally it would be nice if he license stayed with me.
So if I understood correctly, I can have one audyssey calibration on preset 1, and 3 Dirac calibrations with different levels, distances, curve eq, etc…, on preset 2? After selecting one of my Dirac filters can I go back to Speakers Manual Setup on the menu and adjusts the settings like leves and distances for each of my Dirac calibrations? I like the new function on the speaker menu that duplicate the LFE from the subwoofer and sent it to my front towers, can I set this manually to each of my 3 Dirac calibrations too?
I guess the obvious question is --- does Dirac sound better on a Denon X3800H, Pioneer LX-505, or Onkyo RZ50? All these AVR's are priced roughly about the same.

Amazing vid! Thank you for those very clear explanations about Dirac. I have a question. What about the distances? Do we have to measure them manually before beginning with the calibration or does Dirac self measure the distances? If we have to take the measurements manually first, how can we take into acount the delay caused by the DSP of many subwoofers? Thank you.
You don't have to measure any distances with Dirac calibration --- the only thing that is important is to make sure all speakers are properly wired (polarity) and in correct positions (ie, front speakers are not wired up as rear surrounds, etc)
@@tommitchell4570 Yes, Tom is correct Dirac automatically calculates distances. Due to a firmware update a few months ago, Dirac Live nowinclude Bass Management so it automatically crossover points on Denon/Marantz AVRs
THis is the only video that explains the Volume Calibration page. I've seen so many guides and videos and none of them properly explain this setting. I thought you didn't quite understand either, but you explained that it's to ensure your mic can get a good reading. Wow!
Great video. I've found a bug with the MultEQ Editor app on my denon 3800h when using multiple subs. When using the OSD audysee setup through the receiver, Audysee correctly measures my subwoofer distances at 3 separate distances. However, when using the MultEQ Editor app, audysee measures the response of all 3 subs, but instead set the subwoofer distance of all three subs at the same distance as my sub that's located the farthest away. For example, directly through the receiver, sub 1 is 15.6 ft, sub 2 is 15.9 ft, and sub 3 is 23.8 ft. Through the Editor app, all subs are set to 23.8 ft which skews the subwoofer response prior to EQ being applied. The only way to change the distances to the correct distance is AFTER EQ has been applied, which is not ideal as the frequency response is drastically changed by setting the distance of subs to their correct delays. Hopefully this issue can be corrected, as the benefits of using the Editor app for the rest of the speakers made a huge difference! Live the sound, but I know my sub eq is "off" after changing the distances post EQ being applied. Thanks again for the great video.
Question about the Dirac license, I currently have a Marantz Cinema 40, but may return it for the Marantz AV10. If I purchase a license for the Cinema 40 and exchange for the AV10, will the license swap over?
Why three slots and not 8 or 16? I had a salesman almost bragging it had three slots. The HTP-1 has 5. It seems like for the cost of a $5 thumb drive you could give the users enough storage space to do as many as they want.

The main difference is that Dirac adjust the phase and Audessy does not. I have tested both on my Denon AVR 4800, and because the Dirac can adjust the phase, I get almost perfect integration between my two subs and my main speakers. With Audessy , the two subs and the main speakers, cancel each other out at certain frequencies, causing a major decrease in overall bass. Yes, I can adjust the phase on my subs, but this applies to all frequencies the sub plays, so while I can get decent integration at some frequencies, I am not getting good integration at all frequencies. With Dirac, the overall sound of my bass is now way better and my sub amps are putting out way less power as the speakers are properly in phase and not fighting one another. That being said, very frustrating that Dirac does not have any type of loudness compensation or night mode like Audessy.

@@11eagleye97when you run the Dirac calibration, immediately export a test filter. Go into the Denon setup screen and go to the Audio->Subwoofer and check to see what Dirac has determined for your subwoofer level. You want the Direc to set the Denon's subwoofer level at -6 or so. It may take a few tries. Adjust your subwoofer level on the subwoofer and if you are using an amplifier for your speakers, you can adjust those as well (relative to your subwoofer) until you get about -6. You don't want your subwoofer volume knob to be much more than 50% during the calibration, and you should be able to get -6 while doing this. 2 subs... but there is no dirac live bass control.
coming 2024 for extra cost
Will be available early 2024 for approx $450 extra
@@janthomassrensen1065 ouch = 800$
@@StealthBlazer Yep, that´s pricy.
There is now
Guys, why won't my cal file load on my MiniDSP UMIK-1? It loads in REW. Any advice would be great.
Will I have to do new additional profiles for Auro-3D and DTX? What about the Front Wides on/off?
What if the subs are not lumped together?
What exactly does the middle signify and what its importance? I tried using a level audio meter as you would normally for volume levels per speaker but not sure wth I'm looking for on or targeting on the volume section in dirac
On the speaker connection screen, what does Speaker+Pre-Out mean? I thought it was an either/or setting. Thank you.
Are the speaker pairs linked/concatenated in Dirac or are they manually correctable individually? (this is not clear from the video)
It will usually pair like speakers (fronts, rears, etc). However you can easily split them and work with them individually.
Carlos is correct, if desired, you can adjust each speaker individually or as a pair,
I should say group instead of pairs. You can also upload custom curves per group.
Hello sirs have you any idea where i can get my marantz sr 7013 repaired I live in Ireland and my Dina say is there no one left in sound United either support or repairs so can you help or anyone that is looking Would anyone have an idea where I can get my repairs done there is no support from sound United and I'm sure the repairs for Europe are gone as well anyone that can help
I have an A1H waiting to use it, but I'm afraid the effect won't be as expected.
Great walk through!!
I Couleur Even use 6 presets Wehen i also Uwe a configuration 1 and 2 ?
Well explained why there is no DiRac native to the Denon and Marantz. I was wondering about this.
any tip on getting the enough and tight bass from my svs sb3000 pro. I have marantz cinema 50 with Focal 900 series 5.1 and SVS sb 3000 pro but not getting enough bass even after following all the steps mentioned by you. Thanks
Your room might be the issue. What is the H/W/D of the room? If it is to square or like ratios you might be not be able to fix?
@@codyscharkey-gd1sz it’s kitchen and living room combined. It’s an apartment. The size is 20x12x10
@@11eagleye97 You sound like a _great_ neighbor.
Once you do that, you can boost the subwoofer levels by a few dB in Dirac, and then after you export your filter and you still want more bass, increase the volume knob on the subwoofer until you are happy. I have an SVS SB3000 Pro and it should have no problem pressurizing your room size, as long as that roof is completely sealed with closed doors and closed windows.
Silly question, do you recommend performing the Audyssey setup prior to DIRAC? Confused about sequence. Or does it matter and can I go directly to DIRAC out of the box...sorry
Don't overlap them. Don't run Audyssee while performing Dirac Calibration, and vice versa.
I wish I would of had a video like that à few years ago, it would of make my life alot easier. Good job of explanning the Dirac live set up.
When is an update available for the found issues in last update with Dirac Live ??
Like the 20ms maximum delay which is unusable for a lot of people with (multiple) subs around the room.
think that problem is only when ppl are using wireless adapter for one sub.. had the same problem.. ran RCA for my rear sub.. an the 20ms delay problem gone
@@StealthBlazer true. had that also and solved it in the same way. but the 20ms delta means no sub/speaker can be further away then 6 meters. there are people I know who have bigger distances or don't want to use cables. both situations need more then 20ms. so it's a serious issue as that means Dirac is not usable 😮
@Eric Shutter gotcha. Just glad it was an easy fix for me. Spending 350$ on software u can't use with ur setup not good.
very well said, complete and detailed. Tnx
looking for a advance use and setting tutorial?
Thanks, gentlemen. Very helpful, indeed!
When will we get Dirac Bass Control?
Dirac live with my Marantz Limited the Subwoofers automatocally at around 150hz! Is that normal? Of course i have the full version ;)
Subwoofers should not play above 150hz, if that's what you are asking?
Thank you for this very helpful tutorial.
Hi Guys how would a Tactile Transducer fit into the mix ? I have a Denon 3800
Transducers are typically piggybacked to the subwoofer connection so no additional adjustments are required for it.
I wish you can use your phone
Why denon avc-a110 cannot have dirac update since is a high end equipment?
Sorry to burst your bubble mate but Denon is not high-end. They may say there high end but they don't produce a high-end sound.
How many cycles does Dirac use for the correction ?
This video is most helpful! Thank you.
I have Yamaha AVR 😊
So... i was ready to buy, but... my computer is in the otherroom, and the cable of the mic is only 6 foot so it wont reach from the avr to the main seating position . So I'm stuck with audyssey...
USB extension cable
They make these things called long cables. Look them up!
Amazing video thanks
Thanks 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
That's exactly what I was looking for. Thank you very much. Just like in the classroom 👍🏻
The first calibration worked perfectly. Great sound. But I can't find any answers to one question. I also have 2 speakers on my Denon for stereo (music) only. Layout: 7.1 channel + front B. These are connected to the Height 2. But the speakers are not taken into account by Dirac. What can I do to calibrate these speakers as well?
Any idea meanwhile
@@mischugoyou have to choose the 9.1 option in the Denon "speaker layout" page. Dirac will then look for the extra 2 speakers.
@@brysonfitzgerald5238 Thanks! Will try that.
@@mischugo it's a little wonky because Dirac expresses the layouts as Floors.Subs.Heights (example = 7.2.4), while the Denon expresses the same layout as Floors+Heights.Subs (same layout as Dirac example above = 11.2)
Hope this helps explain the logic a little better.
Ah so you get forced a steak and if you want the lobster you have to buy the steak as well... Great restaurant!
Audyssey fits the needs of most of our customers looking for a simple setup solution. Adding both licenses would have increased the price for everyone., but we wanted to give users the option to choose Dirac.
@@SoundUnitedTraining I know, I just thought it was a bad analogy 😉 I just received my X3800H today 😁 great machine! Even without Dirac, just would have liked to know that the Audyssey app was paid as well, but I don't think I'm missing out on much
@@SoundUnitedTraining One mayor annoyance; controlling the volume with the remote is either too slow when you go step by step, or waaay too fast when you hold the volume up/down button, volume down would be fine too have go fast, but volume up should never go that fast!!! My cat could literally walk on the remote and blow my eardrums if I don't put the remote away safely and I'm not near the receiver (and yes it'll overpower my speakers and might damage them, I can easily hear them clipping at high volumes even with the volume limiter, and I'd not say they're bad speakers (Teufel ultima 40 5.1)
Nicely Done.
So when calibrating do you leave the seating in place?
Yes. Leave the room exactly as it will be when listening. EXACTLY.
If you need a better Dirac service, get the Onkyo RZ50
How much delay you can add to speakers.. Oh wait you will hit the brick wall. Thanks for ignoring this fact.
