Great video. If you don’t have the head room to apply the house curve do you increase the volume on the individual speaker or Subwoofer at the very first menu? If so do you then have to go back and re-measure?

A couple of questions.Those Haman Curves from Youthman, do they only effect bass? Don't the typical Curves reduce treble by more?
Could I add my own PEQ from REW, and add to the curve screen instead of using Diracs measurement?
Can I only cut and not boost using Dirac like REW? So, can I adjust the volume of the target curve?
Can I only measure one position?

great video! are we capped at 8 channels on the dirac processor on pc? Also, since it can be installed on 2 PCs, does that mean we can run room correction on 2 setups?

I didn't do the bass adjustment, but I really should've. I have a Marantz AV10 and will try again. Overall, my theater sounded better with YPAO calibration on my A6A. 😢
I tried Audyssey and Dirac, but I'm getting ear fatigue, and both calibrated the bass too low unlike YPAO. Messing with the curves should fix it.
I saw your first video. This video is awesome, and here I am having a problem. Getting error message. Low noice or background disturbance. I changed many volume settings, still an error. Now, I will try your settings and see.
Make sure your sub is not too loud or too low; usually I put it on low on the sub itself. also use a laptop with Dirac will detect your receiver on the network and its more stable than iPhone app
What volym should you have on the receiver when starting to calibrate?

How do I set the LFE channel? I own an ARCAM avr and doesnt have the LFE option on the menu. Should I set it manually on my subwoofers the crossover to 120hz?
Which Arcam? There no LFE option coz when u enable/calibrate and use Dirac, Dirac will set the crossover, with DLBC u can set. In menu there no LFE option, u can set the crossover speaker.
what computer are you using and how is it hooked up to your Avr? And do you have any recommendations for a HT PC?
Is there a way of utilizing this with something like AppleTv or Fire stick? I don't particularly feel like having to browse the various sites for each channel and hope it works. I'm thinking maybe if the tv has spdif out, it could pipe into the tv, get processed by dirac and sent out to (an output) spdif that goes to the receiver? I realize this may limit it to 5.1 though?
Would have been interesting to have this used with a AV processor because doing ab testing is very difficult because you have to reload curves and everything from a desktop. I'm using a nad processor
I just bought the NAD T778 and i have a power amp (XTZ A2-300) that will power the main L&R. What is the best way to level match the main L&R before i run DL. Thanks in advance!

I just got dirac live on my Marantz AV10. My issue that no matter what I do it's set the subwoofer trim on the AV10 in the positive...the lowest I can get it to go is +5 and +6 on by subs. I have 2 SVS PB4000s, so the subs aren't the problem. I've always heard that you want a negative trim on the subs. When Audyssey set it it was -2 and -4. Any pointers on how I can get the trim down?
I want to start off by saying thank you for making such easy and simple videos to follow along with! Huge Help. However, I'm still stuck/lost on the following process. I have the Onkyo RZ50, Def Tech BP9060 set up (built in subs) and a third M&K Sub behind my theater seats. And, the RZ50 has diraclive built it, which I've use and it's working. I want to use the mini dsp 2X4 HD to set the subs up correctly/better. But, after I get the subs all set how I need them, when I run diractlive after, how do I make diraclive not mess with the sub set up, or am I making this to complicated!? :)!! Any input will be helpful. I'm certainly a novice at this, but I do want things to be correct in my theater room... Thank you again!

When using a minidsp just time align and gain match your subs. Don't apply any EQ. Allow Dirac to do this

Question: If you’ve run Dirac already, but you later decide to change the subwoofer’s crossover, do you need to run Dirac again? Please help!
I can't find anywhere how to set the desired Subwoofer crossover point in Dirac? In Dirac I have manually set all speaker's crossover points to 100hz, Easy. Now the Subwoofer has no crossover point, only the two "adjust within these walls" sliders which to my knowledge is just for calibration limits. I measured the sub output with REW after Dirac calibration and it's not hitting a roll off until ~200hz. Do you have to use the "walls" on left and right as the crossover points? aka I need to slide it over to 120hz? I want it to flatten out up to 200hz, but still crossover the LFE channel at 120hz. This will provide a smother response as it slopes down with the crossover.
Get an Onkyo RZ50 with Dirac Live preloaded. It’s unbelievable.

In order for me to install my Dirac room correction, I have to run an Ethernet cable from my router to my Home Theater Processor. After I have installed my room correction and the Hartman curves, once I disconnect the Ethernet cable, will the Dirac Process still be able to change curves in real time?
So, that Harman 10dB house curve... It only affects the bass?
Because most users prefer to only use Dirac up to maybe 600 Hz?
I kinda like the Dirac default setting with +5.3dB bass shelf and -3.2 dB treble roll-off.
But I'll have to measure again. I have the LFE gain at 9 o'clock so the auto-switch gets triggered sooner. With that, the sub is barely audible in Dirac. But I missed the part where you can just lower the volume of all channels and keep LFE at 0.00 so that a higher master volume would raise it enough to register.
(e.g. lower the speakers all by -8dB roughly and leave the sub at 0 so they play the same SPL?)
I just upgraded from marantz av7705 to emotiva rmc-1l, my question is i set distance lebels and speaker type small/large. I have dual pb3000, do i leave it on default -10db and dirac will take care of calibrating them on their own. Im truly lost with this dirac

Hello! I bought a UMIK 2 microphone and I have a very short cable (2 meters) in my kit. I see you have a cool long USB cable in your video. What is the brand and model of the cable you are using? And tell me if a long cable does not distort the measurement?
Long usb extension will not distort measurements as long as it's not obstructing the line of sight between speaker and microphone significantly. Any usb extension cable would do the job. Amazon basics usb 3.0 extension cable is more than enough.

Hi Brad, Correct me if I am wrong, but would it make sense to factory reset the AVR, not run the AVR room correction, set all speakers large and let DIRAC handle the EQ and crossovers? Also, do have any suggestions on the specs for an AV-HT PC to build or buy? Thanks a million!
In a normal situation where Dirac was on the receiver itself, then yeah, your suggestion would work. Unfortunately, because the software version of Dirac can't do anything with your crossovers, and there isn't a software crossover equivalent within the Dirac software, it wouldn't work very well. That's why I tried to stress the importance of getting those settings dialed in on your receiver in part one before running Dirac Live; otherwise you could end up with some issues around the crossover point.

Should you calibrate your subwoofer with the included microphone before you start Dirac live calibration?
On my Velodyn SPL-1200 (old model) I have a included microphone and remote. In the instructions Ther is something about phase. Should you do that before you calibrate?
Absolutely, always calibrate your subs first and then run room correction. If done properly then the calibration software won't have to work as hard to make any other adjustments if any at all. I calibrate my subs with REW, MSO, and load the EQ's into the miniDSP 2x4HD. Audyssey or DIRAC will in all likelyhood not even mess with the subwoofer EQ because it's already very good. I've done measures of before and after running room correction and my subwoofer readouts were the same before and after with only the house curve being the difference. You do NOT set a house curve before calibration, let the software do that (in the case of DIRAC) or the receiver (DENON's Dynamic EQ) or manually add it yourself afterwards. If you add it beforehand then the calibration software will try to flatten it out which just messes up everything.
I have two filters saved for my Integra DRX-3.4 but I can’t find them in the integra setup menu to select. How do you find these filters on the receiver?
How do you connect Denon with Dirac. Means use of Dirac for denon avr. Older model are not supported with Dirac.????

So let me ask that at around 19:14 you talk about the headroom your not getting and to re-do the WHOLE measurement process AGAIN which in my case is just a 7.1 (Lets see, that's 7 x 17 points of measurements comes to 7*17=119 sweeps) and then how do you know DIRAC won't compensate again and lower the bass volume to align with the others? And why didn't you show this would work by raising your subwoofer level? Oh, great tutorial. 😁

Can you do a video that shows the different results when putting the DSPmin mic 90 or other angels, calibration profile or not using, mic placement, and how the Dirac live results change with doing correct or not?
My Subwoofers are Midwall (Side,near Couch) .Dirac measures 0.0ms

I've actually tried numerous times. I can't for the life of me get REW to work properly when using the Dirac Live Processor, but I honestly expected that. Any time I use something that takes over the output and makes a "virtual audio device" from it, this happens and I think it's because REW just doesn't play nice with things like that. I also had the same problem when I was trying out Sonarworks' SoundID Reference on my PC, so it's not a Dirac issue. My guess is it relates to how Windows 10 handles the audio, or the fact that REW can't see the virtual audio device.

I had test Dirac with rew and result very satisfy, with DLBC i am super satisfy how tjis DLBC handle the bass for my two sb 16 which locate front and rear. My system in living room so i dont had good acoustics treatment.
Great walk through, I have a question however as I have 2 subwoofers in my 5.2 surround, can this measure both subwoofers separately as well with the full frequency version?
That is only possible if your Dirac compatible receiver/processor has separate sub woofer outputs. If not both subs will be processed together summed. You can change the levels per sub via rear volume knob or amp level but Dirac wont process delay or level on individual subs unless the receiver has separate sub outputs.
@@ryanthomas1296 Thanks so much for confirming, so in the case of a specific example of a NAD T778 which indeed has 2 subwoofer separate outs, i.e. a sub 1 and a sub 2 out (But apparently NAD T778 has a combined internal wiring which joins them both together, so even though they show sub 1 and sub 2 they're combined as one)... With that in mind would the NAD T778 and Dirac Live (the $99 upgrade that you buy on top) see 2 separate subwoofers, as it does have 2 separate sub outs, or because they have this internal "Combined" wiring, see just one subwoofer?... This is what I'm trying to determine specifically with the NAD T778 and noone seems to know... Hope you can shed some light on this?

Dirac self in their tutorial puts the mic gain to 0%. Why do you put it to 100%?
Are you sure you're not confusing unity gain (0dB) for a percentage?
That "harman curve" with no slope after the bass is pretty terrible tbh, and is not faithful to the Harman research. You need around -2db of slope from 1khz to 20khz.
