- We discussed in my last video ( • TEPID TAKES ON NEW BEA... ) how makeup releases are slowing down, even now that it's the holidays and we would expect the opposite. So I thought this lull was a good opportunity to share the TIMELESS makeup items I love that truly stand the test of time.

I always say the best feeling is that first day you feel normal after being sick. The sun is shining. The birds are singing. It’s amazing!
Yeah dude it's like "I'm gonna live!!!"
Glad you are focusing on the classics… what’s worthwhile! That’s what I find valuable on UA-cam. Tried and tested products
Yes absolutely, but we MUST try new products in order to find even better tried and trued.
yeah i can't relate to people who complain that Kackie has one look... I dont really care if the creator is showing off a multitude of different looks. It feels useful enough just watching a discussions like these about product performance and general application choices.
Love that your content always seems driven by a purpose that runs deeper than content for content’s sake. It makes perfect sense to follow up a video on disappointing new releases with a review of legacy products that still deserve attention.
Thank you! I really see this job as a conversation. As my audience grows I benefit from having more and more feedback as to what folks find valuable. If the meeting could've been an email, why make the video, y'know?
That’s so true and it’s a really good way to describe it. I’m trying to figure it out but definitely coming from a slightly different place than most beauty contact creators… I’m not sure yet, but definitely very intellectual and utilitarian maybe?🤷♀️
I LOVE this. I would so much rather be made more aware of classic greats than random trends! Thank you !!!!
I love the idea of the beauty community doing classic reviews a la music critics XD serves a similar utility of putting folks who may have missed them the first time on to great products!
Kackthony Classictano gives the Koh-Gen-Do a strong 9 😁
OH MY GOD even putting me in this pun is an honor
@@JillKnapp I was not brave enough to explicitly make the fantano joke so thank you for doing it X"D
@@Kebbythetraveler I live to serve. 😁
We need a video on weird, crackpot makeup ideas that have been done or never been done. Becca clear foundation? Bomb. Butthole blush for a pinker pucker? Never done or if it has been...do we talk about it? We love the bests but what about the absolutely worsts? Let your hate floooooow Kackie.
HAHAHA your mind is beautiful
Yes, would love more classics videos. I am a minimalist makeup wearer and am struggling to find my “classics that I know work” without spending so much money. I have a similar skin type to you (am more cool toned) so I feel your recs are safe for me to try. Thank you!
This pink tone is so refreshing on you
Thank you!
My little boy has been sick all week with ear infection etc. today he turned the corner and reminded me that he's actually a cool lil kid when he's not in pain 🙏🏼
Exhausted after a heavy workout, struggling to get ready to visit my partners family. Putting on your video because you are like an energy cup of coffee. Thank you 💯💫
Thank god I didn’t spend anything on the last sales because this whole look is just what I want and now I have a crystal clear idea of what I want to buy next: just pure reliable classic make up (and MAN this whole palette matching Boy is just right on my alley). Thank you as always Kackie! ❤
Awww thank you!!
❤ the tried-and-true, consistently high performing products that you can count on regardless of the type of skin day we're having - that's my absolute favorite type of content. 💕
The things I can throw in my makeup bag for a trip and know it'll come out good (& stay looking good) for the whole day is what I need.
(Traveling has enough variables, I just want to get ready once, have fun doing it, and get on with my vacation 😊)
Kevyn Aucoin contour powder is a classic!
It's always a glorious day when Kackie posts a video! 🎉 I'm nursing a migraine but your voice never makes them worse so you are comfort vibes right now. 😊❤
The Hourglass shadow pot reminds me soooo much of Revlon Colorstay Crème Eyeshadow in Praline. I’m sure someone put that in a dupe video before but wow.
The revlon one is one of my fave one and dones!
@@baileydubs it’s really good!
I usually find such neutral looks a little boring but you truly look radiant. It’s like that glow some pregnant people get. It inspired me to try this. I recently tried those caviar sticks again and they really are so easy and flattering. Recently I’ve been taking teal eyeliner in my upper waterline and tightline and doing a light mini wing in brown eyeshadow or a dark teal to make my brown eyes pop more and even though it’s super subtle and you can’t really SEE it.
I did the same thing with elf halo glow as you did with the rosy drops. The peachy tone does the same thing for me. Beautiful 😻
I think this is one of the best looks you've done on yourself - ever. The points you made about how you didn't want to overload the cheeks with too much intensity really hit home. Some of your more "bronze-y" looks can get intense to the point where the lower half of your face looks super pale in comparison, like it's just this broad band of pale underneath this very golden top half. But this look balances it really well by not going too far with the bronzer/blush/warmth.
You might also have talked me into that chanel Boy. haha
I would love a whole series of this! Here for you making looks with all the things you picked, in a multipart series
I agree with everything you say here and am taking it totally to heart because you have proved it-you look stunning; the makeup is perfect. I think that this is your best look yet❣️
Kevyn Aucoin’s contour is THE classic!
That is so wild how colors show up so differently. I have smoke and it turns VERY pinkish and warm? on me!!! and darker than that
Right! Isn't that nuts??
That is an absolutely stunning look, Kackie. My god. I think Boy is exactly the lip colour I have been searching for! I cannot for the life of me find a lip colour that I like on me. I either look like a clown because it’s just too darn intense, or that “nude” somehow turns bright purple on me or it’s just too fricking pink (hello Barbie!) or too brown and I look like a toddler who got into the chocolate ice cream. I wish I had your eye for colour, but for us mere mortals it can be an expensive (and wasteful) exercise of trial and error, unfortunately. Thank you for your efforts to demystify it all.
I am so happy to help! I KNOW how expensive trial and error can be. I feel like I'm always making content with my mom in mind. She's in a constant state of overwhelm with beauty, but still excited about it 😅
I really liked this type of video. So much new stuff is just blah or unexciting so watching you get pumped about “old” releases is nice.
Thank for the video Kackie! :)
I'd love to see a part 2! Loved this video 🤍
as a fair olive I treat your warnings that products go a bit green as recommendations 🫒
Same!
Same for me too! 🐸
I literally bought Vieve cream bronzer in light for that very reason 😂
Kackie, I could watch you put on makeup all day long and your commentaries on the “state of the universe” are informative and make so much sense. Give us whatever you can think of.
Awww thank you!
This look is so amazing on you. I was mesmerized the whole time 😍
It has been so great to finally find my perfect products and get through that experimentation phase. I save the experimenting for lip products mostly. But the thing I have been trying to find is a great warm ish neutral eyeshadow palette that doesn’t have too many shades.
The classic of the classics of the eyeshadow sticks: By Terry Ombre Black Stars. They truly shine!
That makeup look is awesome on you kackie❤
That foundation is pure heavenly... you make colors look so beautiful! It never looks like makeup, but like skin... and beautiful skin! I've been searching for the perfect, lightweight foundation.. I'm definitely checking out the Koh Gen Do! On their website you can purchase a sample set to try... 😊🩷 so nice to see the classics & not everything new & now!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Kackie, what's that Nars lipstick shade that you love so much? You used it as lipstick & blush one day! I'm loving these!♥️🥰💄💋👑
Envy!
@@kackieI loved this look! Is Envy the lipstick shade in Nars? I looked all over the Internet and couldn’t find it 😝
Thank you so much for your opinions on products, I so value your input and knowledge. Currently I am reaching into Chanel for a deeper dive, so hearing how the formulations behave with my drier skin type is invaluable, not to mention the multiple reformulations the brand has been doing. I appreciate you and your channel so much!!
My sister asked me a kind of similar question to this video topic a while back: “what are the longest standing products in your beauty bag?” For me, it’s been the NARS creamy concealer, Glossier Boy Brow, Maybelline FitMe pressed power, and Lisa Eldridge’s Velvet Ribbon lipstick. Nothing knocks them out of the bag! Except maybe new Lisa lipstick shades, but those are just added to the bag 😂
I am always so sad about fragrance in foundations and also chemical sunscreen. My skin cannot tolerate either. I would like to try some of the high end foundations but they lose me on those points.
I love your techniques and explanations for using what you use. Brilliant. I always go back to the classics and you do it fabulously well 👏 One tip I can add is how I use the Westman Atelier contour stick. I use it most often to quickly add a shadow to my upper eyelids when I only have 5 minutes to freshen up and run out the door! The same quick technique I saw Martha Stewart do. This leaves a quick natural color and sheen to the lid.
Loved this! Thank you! Would love more “classics”. Also this color story is gorgeous on you! Fresh and natural but polished!
What a great presentation! I find your videos very, very helpful. As I am 65 now and a cool/neutral spezies, I can always get profit from your recommendations. Thank you dear Kackey and I send you a hug from Austria-Vienna! ❤
To me, a true classic is the RMS lip to cheek! The longest thing I’ve used consistently though is the charlotte tilbury pillow talk lip liner. I am just neutral on the formula but the shade/undertones work SO well for me compared to all the others I’ve tried. A few newer-but-not-new things that have become classics in my routine are the tower 28 mascara, and the Make concealer and pressed powder. LOVE this topic and hope to see more creators do videos like this!
RMS!! Yes and 2.0 are really the new classics
I know I will be having a great day when there's a new video from Kackie to watch! 💯💖💄✌🏽
I love seeing what you love. Thank you for shouting all the products you love AND didn’t put on your face. That helps! ❤
YES RETURN TO THE CLASSICS ❤ also BOY IS BACK IN STOCK! ❤️❤️❤️
I stopped following YT’s beauty world because of how toxic it got but you’re pretty refreshing! ❤
I'll sing the praises of Nars blush FOREVER. Just so damn good. Love that you're going to do makeup critiques/color theory assists - I think I'm in dire need of that help!
The final look is so luminous and makes you look like Keira Knightley!
My ride-or-die product is a red lipstick; I've been using Rimmel Provocalips in Play With Fire for over a decade now 😂 if I blot it heavily, it works as a sheer lip stain, or I can leave it fully applied for a retro red lip. It's the best long-wear lipstick I've ever used.
A heartfelt thank you for your Chanel rosy light drops recommendation. They smell elegant, and they just make everything look prettier. I have to try them under my eyes too. Glad you're feeling better!
LOVE the Talking Heads moment (except now it's stuck in my head).
Such a beautiful look! I love it!
Kackie get out of my brain. How in the hell did you know I was looking for an easier-to-use alternative to CT Oyster Pearl?
I am here for the bedroom eyes Bambi swatches.
Had to watch 2.5 times in a row because it is so good. Yes to Boy! Yes to Merit brow!
Oooo yes please do more of these, such good reccs
Super helpful and inspiring. As you said, I already own, or have owned, about 1/2 of these products. And the finished looks is one of my favorites you have done. Gorgeous and elegant
Love this video! It's always good to be reminded these products are still as good as we remember.
Hearing you talk about the shiseido-- I know you haven't used it much. But the synchro skin used to be my holy grail and it just isn't hitting anymore. Not sure if I need a new bottle or just a change. I'm thinking the prada or the lisa eldridge skin tint???? This or that?? Help!
I love the eye shadow crayon idea
Stealing this as my holiday look!! Love it! Was scared for the blush (NARS Thrill) but it is soooooo good!!! Would never tried it without seeing it all put together. 🙏🏼🙌🏼
That look is beautiful on you. I have to play with my makeup more!
I agree about Chanel foundations. The colors are not great but they are beautiful foundations. Also the WA bronzer is beautiful, so creamy and easy to use.
So glad you are feeling better. Food poisoning sucks so hard. I have the same problem with the sunscreen ingredient, Octinoxate. It burns and I immediately get red & tiny little bumps appear. Same issue with foundations that have this in them, it is such a bummer. I appreciate your recommendations, they always work out for me. Hope your weekend is awesome. Keep resting, and drinking water, it will take a couple weeks to completely feel good. (nurse brain entered the chat) :)
THE DAYS GO BY REFERENCE GOT ME 😂❤ KACKIE YOU MATCH MY ENERGY AND IM HERE FOR IT! ❤❤❤
That foundation, your skin, looks fantastic!!
Would you share what shade you use in the Luminous Silk foundation? We are shade twins and I haven’t found my match in that formula. I love videos like this! I don’t need all new things all the time.
2!
@ Thank you!
Gorgeous look! Love the review of the classics with also some newer not as well known product lines, in my case anyway-
Loved this look! Thank you.
I have tried the Vieve eye wands and even though I am pale and have no contrast, the mahogany shade in the crease - so beautiful, especially with Laura Mercier's cocoa eyeliner. I love Hourglass but the eye sticks fail me as the product falls out of the component. Might try Smoke.
THANK YOU for diligently testing everything prior to recommending them!
What is your favourite blurring powder blush at the moment - something that makes you feel like the westman atelier bronzer does :P
I used to love the armani foundation but would get cystic acne whenever I wore it and went the clean route but even the westman atelier stick foundation inflamed my eyes to the point where I needed to see an eye doctor...do you have any recommendations for truly clean formulas?
I wanted to ask the same thing re: blurring powder blush! Except I was thinking of how blurring the Gucci powder bronzer is on me. Need a blush like that!
Oh man the Pat McGrath goes so hard. It's so blurring and the shades really run the gamut from subtle to bold.
@kackie thank you ❤ definitely will try the blush reccomendation!
I first tried the Chantecaille Future Skin Gel foundation when it was your Holy Grail several years ago. I wonder if you have tried it again recently and what is your opinion on it compared to your newer favorites. I've also tried the Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Aqua but prefer the Chantecaille.
Should try it again!
Great vid Kackie, I very much enjoyed. It's funny I only just pulled the contour wand out of my draws a day ago I think I've used it 3 times for the reasons you mentioned. That Westman Atellier bronzer is calling my name it looks beautiful, I'm a sucker for a buttery formula.
I loved this video it inspired me to use products I haven’t in a while. Please do more like this!
I had no idea you were in NJ! Ive been watching you forever how did i not know that! Yay shout out from Philadelphia and all its east coast trashinesss
Yessss not far at all!
Stunning! ❤
❤❤❤❤ the classic and timeless look.
Wonderful video!!! My classics definitely include the Gucci bronzer, Laura Mercer powder blushes, Lisa Eldridge lipsticks, elf brow wow tinted brow gel, and the new but instant classic Haus Labs foundation and concealer xoxoxo
I literally purchased the Bobbi Brown moisturizer this morning. 💚
I have pigmentation on my cheeks due to years of sailing, swimming etc. (sun damage and age at this point as well is not helping)…your tutorials are helpful. I have to stay relatively sheer otherwise makeup doesn’t sit well on my face. You do a great job explaining color science as well… watched this vid 3 times - lol
Kevyn Aucoin the most classic contour for sure.
Here in Quebec winter is also very and my lips get cracked quite easily. I'm now using the Cheekbone Beauty Future Generations Lip Treatment and it's the best one for me. And this is an indigenous-owned brand in Canada, truly cruelty-free. If this brand is able to be shipped in the states, I would recommend you to try it.
So sorry you aren't feeling well! I truly enjoyed this video of the classics. I have sensitive skin so I stick with Chanel and Lisa Eldridge products. Since switching to those two brands exclusively, my red itchy skin went bye-bye! Love your channel! ❤
Add to cart add to cart add to cart :) I think you just created my entire wedding look🎉
Lovely look ,makes me wonder why we even bother with powder eyeshadow
Good question
I wear GUERLAIN Terracotta Le Teint in 3.5N. I’ve never found a better match to my light-medium / olive undertones skin in my entire life (and I’m 70) 💃🏻 Plus it’s feather weight and blurring to boot. An absolute dream! Albeit a pretty scented and expensive one, but luckily my skin doesn’t really react to perfume (too old to react?) 😋
I love Guerlain foundations and have had really good experiences with 4 of their older complexion products. I used to find their shade to be peachy leaning but your comment makes me think of purchasing that very shade the next time I am buying another foundation. Thank you!
Wow kackie love the look classic and classy ❤
Ok I’ve been wearing Smoke every day and now I NEED Boy! Beautiful look.
I really love actually getting solid recommendations and tips from you! So tired of the constant new new new viral junk pushed everywhere.
Love this video!
I’m a Laura Mercier powder girl, their eyeshadow crayons 😉, MAC Fix+, Nars Orgasm blush, Nars concealer and Estee Launder double wear foundation as well as Dior’s backstage foundation. I also love Clinique’s black honey ☺️
Omg MAC where was she??? I need more MAC for the next one
Dose of colours has a super sparkly eyeshadow stick that I've seen others really sing the praises of, I'd be interested to know your opinion on them 😅
Oooh!
I've learned a lot from your channel! Enjoying watching
OG contour powder = Kevyn Aucoin!
Love the classics video! ❤
I had/ve food poisoning yesterday and today, so I'm using it to watch makeup videos. 😊
👏👏👏great look, thanks🌟🌟
I bought that sweater..you look gorgeous I look meh! Lol. Love your content!!!❤❤
I use the B. Brown face base & the smaller jar that's for the eye area. I'm relieved your on the mend from food poisoning. It's the worst!! xoPam, still Kelli's mom
Who is here for the Charrlottttte Tuhhhlburrrrryyy 😂. You never disappoint ❤
Your hair looks extra nice today! 😊
This is the content we NEED right now ❤❤❤
Love the concept of this video and love the look you created. I appreciate your take on classics and the fact that you didn't include things like double wear in the video just because "you had to" 😊
I've never even tried it lol
It’s Bobbi Brown MOONSTONE you’re thinking of. You influenced me to buy it and I’m obsessed!
So glad that you're feeling better. Please tell me which shade you use of the Westman Atelier bronzer. Thanks
The lightest one!
Highly recommend the nars pot concealer!
It really is the best for spot concealing.
@EmmaHacker-kj9un for sure! I personally think it looks great ANYWHERE on the face. I also really love it if I need to go in for more coverage once I've finished my makeup..easy to just paint right on top of spots that need it.
Yeah man, F the octinoxate. My skin is normally made of steel, but octinoxate is like battery acid. And: OOF - that foundation is gorgeous!
I feel so seen by this thank you!
i love the video but Kackie please what is your white sweater you're wearing when you were editing?! I have been on the hunt for the perfect basic knit sweater and it looks AMAZING. i need this in my life!
It's from Yellow Label! It's cotton! I love cotton sweaters.
How does Merit 1990 stack up against Glossier Boy Brow? And I've never found one that holds my brows in place unless it's practically glue, like Maybelline Superlock. I love this type of video. I learn more about cool vs warm by seeing you apply makeup. Your color theory videos also rock!
Hmmmmmmmm I haven't used boy brow in ages I literally forgot it existed lol oops. Yeah I don't think it has the beeswax hold boy brow does.
@kackie Thanks!
My God you are such a GEEK for makeup. And I fucking LOVE it!
Hahahahaha thank you!
