Hello from this elated new subscriber! This video is a game-changer. I’m a fan of the Violette FR Bisou blushes, but one of them never worked well with my light-neutral-golden skin. Now I know that the vividness + transparency was fighting with my skin tone, and once I layered in a more opaque & less vivid cream blush, it all fell into place. Magic (well, no- science)!

Now I understand how to be actually deliberate about filling color in and not just backing into it on accident. I have been doing this for years without knowing why it sometimes made things look better! 😮

When you put on the RMS pinky bronzer, I had my “ah ha!” moment. That color is the mid tone that often naturally appears in youthful skin. As we age, a lot of us lose those beautiful mid toned pinks from our skin that signal to the eye “health and youth.” That’s probably one reason makeup starts to look clowny on both mature and very fair skin unless done carefully. This is the answer. Thank you!…and also, I must have that bronzer now. 😂

I discovered you several days ago, and realized instantly our skin tones are very similar. AND, from your red lip video, I finally understand why I have a full collection of red lipsticks that I have never been able to make work! I buy a new tube every December, hoping this will be the year that I finally get it right. Now I know why I add a layer of coral over the red before I leave the house!!
As for liquid blushes, I've been scared of the super opaque (Rare Beauty) products, so I've gone with softer products....which look see through on my cheeks. I really did decide that I'm a powder blush person, and just stopped trying. The see-through blush look made my makeup look unfinished, like I missed a step, and now I know that I did!! I know quite a bit about color theory (my son and his wife are artists), but never thought about how the opacity of a product would read on my skin.
Sorry for writing so much, but my mind is blown, and I feel like I can deal with the makeup issues I've been struggling with.
If you wrote a book on this subject, or held classes, I would pay to learn more about this!!

Yessss. Speaking as a pale neutral olive on whom sheer lilac color products turn a nauseating shade of orange, and skin tints go weird.
I wish I could have the hours and money back that I've wasted, researching how sheer XYZ product is before I buy it and end up disappointed. I wish you, Kackie, with the correct terminology and credibility, would do a video suggesting to us - and brands - how online swatches could be soooo much better. If only to reduce returns and environmental waste, and boost buyer satisfaction. I wish they'd stop photographing thick layers of a sheer product as if we could guess how it would look if worn in a normal amount. Not to mention a ban on AI/photoshopping. And for brands to stop enthusing about sheerness as if it's objectively an advantage, instead of a characteristic that becomes useful or unusable, depending on the user's intent.
    I feel better now.

i love the idea of using the dropper on a picture to nail down your skin tone. Is there a way to say take that some steps further and use that swatch to help nail down 1. what your undertones are and 2. to generate swatches of colors that will be complementary for your skin tone? That could be super helpful for some, i know sometimes i just can't spot things with the naked eye in the mirror

But I never know what to do for bronzer/contour. Everything is muddy and/or orange. And with eyeshadow, everything pulls orange but using greys or silvers make me look off. This is so exciting to see because I accidentally discovered this phenomenon recently when I realized that I was better in neutral/warm colors than cool, and that all of my lipsticks, including corals and peaches, were looking like a vagina lips purple, mauve color, which I now hate. After buying a half dozen new lipsticks and failing to overcome the purple/mauve, I finally realized that my natural lip color, though dull, is strong and powers through. So, I started trying to find a neutral to put on first like complete opaque nude to act as a base. And now you've confirmed that I'm on the right track!

The thing that keeps me from trying this out is: I don't have a big collection of make up. I can't "fill" in colors, because I own 2 shades of blush and two different bronzers. It's been so long just watching how to do The Trend make up look that's the same for everybody and it's done with That Product. This is the difference between ART and an ad campaign. 💗

I think that’s why I really like bronzer that is close to my actual skin color because it bridges the gap between my skin and the blush. But I never thought about in this way or why it’s works the way it does. I don’t use it to make my face warmer I use it to make everything look more natural but flattering, seamless. Thanks Kackie!

I appreciate you taking your genius and distilling it down to a simple and understandable level for those of us that are color challenged!
But also, I love translucent blush and I'm always looking for that 😅. Please don'tuse your influence to encourage the makeup companies to stop making it! I suffered through the full coverage tanned-warm-matte-insanity craze and finally us sheer and dewey loving gals are getting some options. I really want them to continue! I'm 46, but i have always preferred sheer and dewey, light. But it wasn't always available.

If you have not covered this I would love a blush video or series about face and cheekbone shape and how that interacts with blush placement, blush contour with various colors, dewy vs matte and so on. I feel like there are videos that cover these topics but not in combination with the nuance that is needed to create custom solutions.

This is fantastic! So often it's thought of that we needed to take a (for instance) opaque blush and blend it out to sheer the edges to make it look like it's part of your skin, but this gives everything a different dimension of making things looks like they truly belong. Love it! Would love to see how useful any of the existing mixing pigments are when applied to this concept.

I know color seasons are more so used in fashion but can you explain thw science behind the seasons or how it applies to makeup? Like obviously we can wear whatever we want but sometimes its nice to know what colors work with our natural coloring for effortless looks (even if you wear olive eyeshadow, for the right undertone that will still look effortless). I am loving this series of videos

  • @nunuuu
    @nunuuu 6 днів тому

Wow, this *hit* me, in Kackie parlance. The right (supposedly hollow, no midtone) side is pretty too, but when compared to the left (the one with the midtones), it looks more makeup-y. The left feels more painterly, more human, like the makeup recedes in a good way and you look more like you? As you said, there's no "bad" side, but once I watched your process and saw the results, it's like night and day. Subtle difference for most, as you said, but everyone's all out here for the niche color theory/makeup content! This was so fun! 🤎

Oh my goodness! That is such a big difference!
My way to fix filling in the color gap has always been to have a light tan …..because everything looks better on my face with a light tan.
But now I don’t want to have to get a tan and I don’t want to use My time to spread on a fake tan, but I would like my make up to look good.
    Thank you!

Ciele's SPF 50 blush in Kirsty is a great "fill color" for me for a lot of use cases. And wow, that RMS Spell is amazing. I majored in Neuroscience and the profs basically prefaced every explanation with, "well, this is an over-simplification, but..." Painting is the same way (my husband has a 5-year Fine Arts degree in painting from the University of Salamanca). You're doing great--thanks for the nerdery! I love that color blender site.

Oh interesting! I have been doing something like this for years without realizing what it’s called. I usually mix a little liquid blush with foundation and put that down as a first layer before concentrating the pure color in the center. For me, it takes the guess work out of finding the intermediate shade if I just literally mix with something that’s already my skin color.

Belated happy 100K Kackie!! 🎉 So well deserved. And as one of the folks who asked for this video, thank you so much 🥰 This is so wildly helpful, and will guide my future bronzer choices as I tend to use it to fill and blur the edges of my blush ❤ If it's not too niche, I'd be curious to see how you use colour theory to inform tweaking your colour cosmetics after a big hair colour change! It always takes me a lot of trial and error 😅

I love this new series! Thank you for all your effort and the huge difference you made in my life.
Makeup used to be so horribly confusing for me, every time I would spend agonizing hours painting myself, It would always look... Wrong. For a few years i gave up on makeup entirely. Then I discovered your videos. After watching your videos for awhile makeup stopped being such a chore. Eventually it became fun, again like it was before i was a self concious preteen. Now I can enjoy makeup and have confidence that it will look beautiful. You and HLP inspired my journey to discover my skintone and helped me find a sense of self confidence. Again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
