- Welcome to the channel!
Bourbon with the Boys is about sharing bourbon, stories, and experiences with those people that are close to you. This is a place where we value good friendships and good bourbon and I am going to talk about my journey through the bourbon world as I learn and experience new bottles and new places along the way.
Today's discussion is about the best 9 allocated alternatives that you can find at your local store. These bottles are not only affordable, but can go head to head with many allocated bottles you put against them!
Great video. Thanks. I live in Scotland and love US Bourbons and Ryes. Interesting price differences. I have tried and enjoyed most of your selections and totally agree. Never heard of Cut Above. Over here the Buffalo Trace is about £20 = about $25. 1792 is at least £40 = $50. My go to and most favourite - you're absolutely on the money is Rare Breed - which is about £55 here so about $70. Eagle Rare I can usually pick up on special offer for £30-35. Really like that. I will try to get hold of an Old Forrester 1920 tomorrow, thanks for the tip. Not tried either of the Jacks but will do some searching. Thanks Again.
100 percent agree with you! I have been buying whiskey to round out my collection this past year. I do not have Rare Breed.
Bought the .375 ML od JDSBBP. Blown away!!! Amazing taste and boldness. The small bottle is half empty, so I bought the bigger bottle two weeks later. And added the JDSBBP Rye. Why pay more. I am done shopping!!! The price point for both JDSBBPs was $59, why spend more...
I would also add Four Roses Small Batch to this list.
Buffalo Trace is still allocated by me. I can go one, two, or three months without seeing it. When it comes in to a store it's "Limit 1" and sold out in a few hours. Eagle Rare is even harder to come by. And haven't seen an EH Taylor in *years* .
Jack Daniels bottled in bond for $35 is very nice. Love Rare Breed . saw a bottle of eagle rare last week it was a hard no @$75.
Great list, in the $50 range grab you a Bardstown origin series straight bourbon (white label) and it will beat blantons in a blind everytime. Also Bardstown origin series bottle in bottle (black label) is a fantastic wheat. I'm still hunting for there rye in the origin series.
Wild Turkey Rare Breed and Old Forester 1920 are constantly on my shelf and when I run out of one, I go out and replace it.
100% agree on rare breed and 1920
I thought your video was excellent. New to your channel but really enjoying the content. I would also recommend anything from New Riff.
I second that statement. I have two single barrel new riff picks and love them both!
great list for sure!!
I picked up a Knob Creek 9 1.75l big bottle for $43 at my local Costco. Not sure why the big bottles are so cheap around here, the 750ml ones are still $30-40.
I would also throw in wild turkey 101 for the cheap bottles as well as green river
Agree on the WT101, very hard to beat. Definitely could have been on this list.
I don’t hunt allocated whiskey ever. I love knob ceeek single barrel and I’d put it up against many. Yes OF 1920 is a great bottle but Russell’s single barrel is just as good and similar priced. Wild Turkey 101 will beat anything under 30 everyday. Just saying.
100% agree with wt101. I believe it would also beat a lot of stuff over the $30 price point as well! 👍
