Thanks Russell, yes the gloss on that tri-ang one is absolutely wonderful... that's a good point too actually, it is the same chassis now you mention it! Glad you liked them anyway, Sam :)
Ooh, some of the finest class of locos in one go! Lovely! By the way, it's bloody ridiculous you're suffering from the ad-pocalypse too... I wish you good luck.
Excellent video Sam. Fine collection locomotives as ever. I love your collection of TT! Great fun to watch. The Blue streamlined coronation is the most striking for me. I have a TT version and Hornby Railways version from the early 80s. Both named Coronation. Still trying to get my hands on good early Hornby Railways King George. Missed out on a couple! it must be my turn soon. Oscar
Thanks so much Oscar, really glad you enjoyed these! I agree - I think those are definitely the most striking! Good luck with your King George... they are lovely things! Thanks for watching, Sam :)
12:27 I like that shot! 16:38 theat tr-ang one looked really cool from that angle! my favorite of these engines has to be either the Tri-ang streamline back, Tri-ang or steamlined blue!
I recently purchased to streamlined duchess of Hamilton, the most recent one. Absolutely love it. It cost me 265 Australian dollars. The coronations class is my favourite loco of all time at the moment. Thanks for doing this running session. Also thanks for all the great content!
The best of the best of the best. Absolutely obsessed with these, and now I have the right coaches for the original Coronation Scot services, I drive a formation all the time :) Also, missed a trick with the intro, in a lot of your videos (maybe just newer ones) you have Coronation Scot coaches rolling past, should have done that :)
haha thanks so much - that sounds amazing, I'd love to see that! :D I change the intro every year - though it would have been great to use that one! Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I like the reds and the streamline versions. I have one of these you know, Duchess of Athol which is a real old timer - Hornby Dublo three rail type which is 20 years older than I am. Oh and nice to see City of London.
Thanks Ian, yes I'm very fond of those maroon ones too! Yeah I've seen some of those super old ones - and yet the tooling still looks gorgeous next to those modern Hornby ones! Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Great video mate!! Stainer definitely knew how to make a Pacific! They are lovely locos and are just a sight to see, one of the best memories from the nrm for me is leaning on duchess of Hamilton's buffer having a coffee!! Hopefully we will get to see a streamlined coronation on the mainline one day! - all the best mate :D
Great to see the Wrenn locos working Sam, have a number of Duchess around 6 of them are Wrenn, the others are Hornby, a mate of mine has the Hornby city of Nottingham weathered bought new never run as yet. Catching up on your video's, happy new year to you and your family, looking forward to your 2018 collection video. Regards John from Oz.
Nice selection of Coronation locos there! Hornby did a black version as part of a COMING HOME WW2 commemorative train set a few years ago. The Caledonian coaches don't look out of place behind this class either! Good to see the cow making an appearance as well.
Possibly! I have seen the Hornby one; I think the Oxford one has better detail, and while neither perform too well, the Hornby one just has the edge with the running! Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Hey Sam! Really like this vid! That is a great collection of Princess Coronation locos! I have a de-strealmlined one in BR blue from Hornby! Great loco, worth all the money😀it's probably my best loco! Cheers, Luca
some very nice loco's i do like the weathered looks, gives it a nice look to shiney n clean looks like it did at the end of days for steam all oily and well used but only needs oil in the moving parts no cleaning just in the firebox,

Hi Cody, that's an awesome idea - unfortunately I just have too many for that; it'd go on for way too long... so it has to be selections only unfortunately! :3 Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Hey Sam. I just wanted to say I found it a bit funny that you called the first loco a her but it was called king George the 6th. Great session, I quite like this class of locos. Mr Mike
Hi sam I myself have had trouble with those my model railway coaches. I got 14 of them as they seemed a bargain at the time and they still are after a small modification on the wheel set. If you separate it from the main chassis and you'll see two little plastic bits that restrict how much they can turn. I dismantled them so i was able to cut them off with a craft knife. Once assembled again they went round the tightest of curves. If you would like me to show i can but im sure you will see if you had a look. As you can imagine i have 2 lots of 14 coaches to do and only done 4 coaches . But it really makes a difference. Hope this helps . Cheers matt
Hi Matt, yes they're proving to be quite troublesome, lol! Thanks so much for the tips - I will give that a go! Mine seem fine on curves though, they just seem to uncouple randomly... not even just on curves! Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Sam'sTrains yh so did mine even on straights and simple pointwork. I just ment as yours kept derailing on that curve that was all. I think that the track plan they showed on the advert and speed wasn'ta problem but i never done it as it was a waste of money to me. Let me know if you find this ti to be an improvement. Cheers Matt
Hey Sam, have a look at the Bachmann spectrum coaches (I reviewed them). They are amazing. How come you don’t do any American freight trains such as Union Pacific or Santa Fe

Sam’s Trains My number one favorite famous British William Stanier (1876-1965) 4-6-2 (Pacific) steam locomotive engine train with coal tender is the LMS Princess Coronation Class 6233 Duchess of Sutherland (1938).
@@SamsTrains Honestly man, the fact that you've responded to every single comment I've left on your channel is astounding. You seem like a genuinely kind person, something we sadly don't see very often. Thank you for being you, and keep up the good work!
Hey Sam. I think I've made life difficult for me when it comes to finding a Duchess, I'm looking for a BR maroon livery, with the split in the front running plate (same front as the BR blue wrenn). Looking to recreate Duchess of Hamilton before she was re-streamlined
My favorite Coronation Class of locomotives has to be the streamlined versions! :D My favorite streamlined coronation class locomotives are Queen Mary in LMS Black No.6222 and Princess Alexandra in LMS Blue No.6224! :P
I tend to like un streamlined locos more than the streamliners, I don't no why, I prefer the unstreamlined Duchesses, and I like the A3 over the A4 (A4s are basically heavily streamlined A3s with a streamlined inside), not sure about the Merchant Navies or the Bulleid Light Pacifics the unrebuilt has loads of character, but the rebuilds have that charm of a traditional steamer with very different features. By the way, LMS Maroon is officially LMS Crimson Lake, I'm not sure if that's how it is for BR. And go on old girl! (Directed to Queen Mary.)
My fav was Lady Patricia 😀could u please do a running session with LNER pacifics? Idk if you have already done that but if you haven't please do it. Thx Sam!
haha yeah it's quite a lot! Yes it gets used a couple of times a week still - I think it might be on it's last legs actually ;D Thanks for watching, Sam :)
The Coronation class is my favorite model of steam locomotives. I made a wooden model of the Duchess of Hamilton and have recently purchased an 00 Hornby coronation model.
Sam'sTrains it was scratch-built out of wood I had lying around. The scale was established by the amount of wood I had and primitive track I had at the time. I am a woodworker and I had always wanted a model railway, so I began building those models back in 2016. I continued building them through 2017. I think I still have the Duchess somewhere in my garage. I also built a GWR Pannier Tank Engine, 2-6-0 Steam Locomotive, Steam Railcar, 0-4-0 Saddle Tank Engine and a BR Class 08 Diesel Shunter. The main reason I made these was for stop motion animation and because I didn’t have the ability to financially support a model railway. Now I’ve been growing a true model railway. I’ve been eBaying HO and 00 scale rolling stock and locomotives. This is something I’ve always wanted too do, and now I am able too do it.
Hey David - I don't have Sutherland, but they're all the same, barring the name - I've done reviews of the Coronations in most liveries! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Very nice video!! Do you know if hornby dublo is electric, double 00 and and work on a DC controller please? If you don't know its not the end of the world! :) Morgan :)
Hi Morgan, yes Brian's right... I believe the 3 rail versions would also work on a standard controller too, providing you wired it up to 3-rail track - correct me if I'm wrong! Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Blue looks good on the A4s or Tornado, but I don't think is suits this loco, it just looks somehow weird. I sill want to get one in my fleet later, maybe a set for Xmas. Right now i'm focusing on the International modell-show this weekend where for the 1st time my new British collection will run on our new H0 modular system, ( I do going to take 3 of my trusty German locos as backups, just in case). So lot of repairing, and maintenance today, and tomorrow, on mostly the rolling stock, and the narrow gauge trains, the locos are already done (except that School class, parts still falling off of it). One thing is sure: never use an old Hornby wagon as a reference to fix a kit built one.
Thanks so much! I use a Nikon DSLR, but the secret is in the lighting... I've got so many lights running it's like the surface of the sun while I'm filming ;D Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Hi Sam. You've got a great set up there mate. What do you do for a living if you don't mind me asking. I'm fairly new to the channel so sorry if you've already covered this! 👍

I don't know why but I find the noise the Triang Coronation makes really satisfying

Coronation Classes are one beast! They are also known for wheel slip and they're almost fatal "Resting on points". Anyway, Duchess Of Hamilton did almost rest on points. Very famous, beautiful engine.
Cheers, Andrew :D (also sick) And also I hope the storm passed with no damage or things destroyed.

Yes the storm went away nicely, it was pretty scary sounding up the loft though, lol!

Sam'sTrains no worries mate. Them wheels might sort out the derailment problem maybe
Sam, I love your videos, you never said why the streamlining was removed and just not added to newly built locos, I would love to know
Thanks very much Mitchell - they removed it because it made maintenance easier, and there was no real benefit to having it, other than aesthetic!

By the way, LMS Maroon is officially LMS Crimson Lake, I'm not sure if that's how it is for BR. And go on old girl! (Directed to Queen Mary.)
That's fair enough mate - quite a few people have said the same actually!
Thanks for the comment,
Sam :)
great video mate :) very enjoyable
My fav was Lady Patricia 😀could u please do a running session with LNER pacifics? Idk if you have already done that but if you haven't please do it. Thx Sam!
Great choice there - I love that one! Great idea - I'll have to do that! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Wow there were A LOT of coronations, hey do you still use the Dapol rail cleaner? If not where did it go?
haha yeah it's quite a lot! Yes it gets used a couple of times a week still - I think it might be on it's last legs actually ;D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Really happy to see the duchess of hamiltion and anothers
Thanks mate - really glad you enjoyed them! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
The mlmr coach's can be fix under bogie there is a long plack just below the buffers just sand it down and they will not derail anymore
Ahh okay! I guess that might fix the uncoupling problem too then!
Cheers,
Sam :)
The Coronation class is my favorite model of steam locomotives. I made a wooden model of the Duchess of Hamilton and have recently purchased an 00 Hornby coronation model.
Great to hear that Andrew - very good choice! A wooden model sounds superb - what scale is that?! :O
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Those steam engine's are real beauties, I love them.
Thanks John - I really love these too!
All the best mate,
Sam :)
You can see the Duchess of Hamilton in the National Railway Museum I have seen it.
You're right - it's amazing isn't it?! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I love the dutches class i think there beautiful models.
Hi there Sam was wondering if you Have a model of the Duchess of Sutherland you could do a review of it for me if possible.
Hey David - I don't have Sutherland, but they're all the same, barring the name - I've done reviews of the Coronations in most liveries! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Why do i get a feeling you are going to do a running session with LNER A4 Pacific's?
haha! I haven't planned to actually - but I absolutely should! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
haha! I don't have one of those planned actually... but I absolutely should! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Very nice video!! Do you know if hornby dublo is electric, double 00 and and work on a DC controller please? If you don't know its not the end of the world! :)
Morgan :)
Hornby Dublo was made in 2 rail and 3 rail versions, the 2 rail locos would work with a standard DC train controller.
Hi Morgan, yes Brian's right... I believe the 3 rail versions would also work on a standard controller too, providing you wired it up to 3-rail track - correct me if I'm wrong!
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
One thing is sure: never use an old Hornby wagon as a reference to fix a kit built one.
haha I see what you mean actually! Sounds great mate - good luck with everything! :D
All the best,
Sam :)
12:31 - 3 have been preserved? I thought it was only 6233 and 6229?

Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Love it Sam! Sorry to change subject but what camera do you use? The picture is so clear...
Thanks so much! I use a Nikon DSLR, but the secret is in the lighting... I've got so many lights running it's like the surface of the sun while I'm filming ;D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains your videos are great. Me and my son watch them for hours! I would hate to see the electric bill 😂
That's so lovely to hear! haha! It's not too bad, because I converted most of them to LED a few years back! :D
