Swift dzire shouldn't be on the list as the first gen. still stands out from the other gens. in a good way.
In my opinion it was the best looking car at that time, I still drive one and still it's running in condition no major problem occurred till now, It's built is better than now a days Suzuki's.

I have always hated the Dzire for being the murderer of the Esteem. Even a kid could design the boot better than the Maruti guys.
All these ugly cars you quoted were budget cars, and making the design of these cars, would've increased the costs, making these cars unrelated to their primary motive i.e. being cheap as hell!
Also, the good looking MPVs you quoted, are all above 30lacs price, also, the Vellfire and V-Class look hideous for the price they're available at!
And now talking about the Dzire, the reason it got more popular than your favorite Esteem, is the fact that it was a better car! It got better performance, better comfort, more features and safety as well. Why shouldn't have the public ignored the looks then??
And in my opinion, the Dzire was never as ugly as you call it in your videos!

The problems you said about the Qualis of heavy clutch and heavy steering may be specific to your car. We owned a Qualis for 16years and the clutch and steering were pretty damn light..infact the steering kinda lacked feel cause of being so light. The gear lever too isnt as heavy as other cars with such long gear levers like the Xylo or Sumo..and it can be ugly if you compare it to a modern car..but that car is atleast 20years old in India..and that was when it was already phased out of all international markets. So the Qualis as a new car in India in 2000 was as already nearly 10years old and still looked way better than the Sumo, Bolero or Tavera which were its competition..
Qualis truly was amongst the ugliest. It used to look like hearse van.
