What an amazing story and film told with such respect and admiration for these superb animals. Sad ending but a lasting tribute to the calf. Well done.
Espen, I have watched literally thousands of videos on YT... and let me tell you... that video had everything, excellent camera work, excellent storytelling, the wonderful scenery, not to mention the friendships forged, but also the harshness of life itself.... excellent work Espen... can't wait to see more from you...BR, Yoki...oh and totally agree on the coffee...lol..
So sad that the little calf didn't survive, and even though he will not know it , your pictures and video means we all got to share a little time with him. and that image is one I am unlikely to forget anytime soon. Thank you. . on a lighter note, the train trip from Bergen still looks amazing , It was very comfortable when I took it but without the cafe .( But that WAS 50 years ago 😉) I will have to take a look at Tronds video too . . Thanks for sharing another great view of our wonderful planet🙂
Excellent video and images, Espen! Thanks for sharing this amazing experience. I'm 76 now, but this video reminded me of what it was like when I was much younger and enjoyed doing things I wouldn't or couldn't dare do now. It's all wonderful and is a blessing that we can do these things and later have such wonderful memories. What beautiful creatures!
Hi Espen, Great video of your fantastic experience. And... Thanks twice as i ll travel next week to Norway for 3 months ! I discovered with your video this marvellous animal !
What an Olympic effort, Espen! Thank you sir for a great production and, the confirmation of Olympus camera/lenses holding up in such harsh weather conditions! Outstanding pics and video!!!
While I sit here at 8:30pm its 27deg I could still feel the cold . Great production and of course wonderful images . I feel for the little guy nature while beautiful can be cruel .
Cracking video Espen; it's a magical place; I managed to visit Dovre last year. I will certainly have to plan a return in 2024. Nature can be cruel and unforgiving, but the little calf's death will mean other animals will benefit... Cheers Adam
Wonderful video Espen, so much emotion. I loved the train ride and the friend photos. And of course the amazing musk ox photos incredible experience ❤️
Oh maaaaan, I missed the spoon. I will forever regret this! :P That is something I will not get to see, even with only 3 hours of driving. Did I mention that it only takes me 3 hours to get to Dovrefjell? It takes only 3 hours!
This is a truly beautiful video, Espen. We really get a sense of the environment that those incredible Musk Oxen live in: the beauty, the cold, the harsh reality. Thanks for the story and the images!
A great video Espen, albeit with a sad end. It was fun to see you all together. I asked my wife what she thought would be the collective noun for a group of UA-cam wildlife photographers. Without a moment’s pause and a straight face, she said, in a matter of fact manner, a boredom. 🤷🏽
Great story and photos, iv watched the videos from all four of you now, but just love the different angles and ways the story is being told. You do a great job getting us into what’s happening. Thanks for sharing 😊
Thank you for the beautiful video! The poor little one... It can be heartbreaking as a photographer to watch such scenes and know that there's nothing you can do about it. The other day, I watched a fox with a bad case of fox mange and felt that same sadness and helplessness, knowing that this once beautiful animal, now a shadow of itself, would soon die.
I tip my hat to you all. Even in teen °F my fingers can't stand the cold let alone in minus temperatures. Thank you for sharing this beautiful story. Sad ending for the little one though.
Wonderful storytelling throughout this video Espen, the images were superb showing just how these animals survive in the harshest extremes. Sad to see the young musk ox didn’t survive. On a different not, how feasible is it to photograph moose in Norway. Thanks again
You’d think so, but I suppose it would be quite a lot of effort. They try to keep this population at around 200 even culling them if it gets too large. Don’t understand why, would be better to try to reintroduce wolf to the area and have a better functioning ecosystem.
It will let in the same amount of light, but you need to do a 2x on the DOF when you compare m4/3 to full-frame with the same focal range. It's never a direct comparison which is sad to see that so many still think it is. If it was that easy, there would simply be just one sensor standard, but because it isn't, you are wrong. That camera and lens setup will give the light of f/5.125 but the DOF of f/11.25 at 1000mm if it was full frame. Then you need to factor in the quality of the lens itself as well as the camera. Try to compare m4/3 to m4/3 instead, and you'll quickly see that your own excitement will drop simply because now you'd be comparing apples to apples which is the only valid one. m4/3 is not and never will be equivalent to full frame. It is different and you know that.
@@EspenHelland You are not my friend, and adults claim responsibility of one's own mistakes. I see that comparison from so many who choose a cheaper option, and the reason is to justify it all by telling the lie that there is no difference between sensors as if you're above physics. I've heard all the excuses before and I'm just sick of it. Quality is real, and that just simply cost more because physics demand more if you want more out of it, and that simply cost more.
A wonderful but sad story Espen, nature is so cruel at times!😢 This video is a great tribute to the poor young Muskox!
Thank you Peter 🙂
What an amazing story and film told with such respect and admiration for these superb animals. Sad ending but a lasting tribute to the calf. Well done.

Wonderful episode Espen. Great story telling, and sad to see how harsh life can be for these creatures. Thank you!

That was a very sad video 😔. Poor little 😪
superb
Thank you 🙂
You’re living the dream my man; embrace it…. Most can’t
Thanks Les!
so sad for the little guy. is there like a wildlife sanctuary for these animals, where can take care of them until safely release in the wild?
You’d think so, but I suppose it would be quite a lot of effort. They try to keep this population at around 200 even culling them if it gets too large. Don’t understand why, would be better to try to reintroduce wolf to the area and have a better functioning ecosystem.

👏 well done mate. Not really a comparison video of camera systems this, but kudos on the use of decimal spaces 🙄

Did you have your own cabine in the train? And how much was the trip?
No, I was sitting in the Cafe when I was on my own. It's really cheap if you book in advance, think I got it all for around £40
