Your grandma taught you well, she is the Royal Highness Queen and you take after her, you are a Queen 👸 too!!!!!!!!! But of course!!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊. HYDRANGEAS PROPAGATION!!!!!!!!!! Love this video thank you so very very much!!!!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤
After watching this video and reading some of your replies, we may have to start calling you Her Highness Hydrangea, Natea, Queen may not be doing you justice 💕👑
Hydrangea propagation! Just got a great lesson on propagation. Looking forward to putting this into practice. Thank you Garden Queen, and love hearing you speak about your grandmother .
I propagated a hydrangea I could not find at my garden center and I want more! I tried to buy the hydrangeas on line but they wanted soooo much for shipping I could not do it. I have the beginning off what appears to be roots. So exciting.
Thank you for this video. The his has been very helpful!
I ain’t neva seen hydrangeas that humongous. You must have some good soil. They are definitely show stoppers❤
Thank you so much! I have to come in every year and size control it!! It expands into the walk ways!!!
Thanks so much for this video. I've never seen anyone explain how to start a cutting to develop into a standard! Will you keep us posted on how these cuttings grow? I would love to follow along to learn how to keep taking care of the standard. I'm going to go get some hydrangea cuttings from my own garden right now! Off Topic: I LOVE your kitchen wallpaper and black electrical covers. Just beautiful.
Love this and can totally relate. I remember at the perfect timing my grandmother would take cuttings and divide plants in her garden and give to others all the time! My mom practically created her garden from cuttings and division from my grandmother and now I find myself doing the same. Thanks for sharing
Just have question are you a nurse or something in healthcare? Just curious because of they way you call certain instruments or make reference makes me think that Love watching your videos some of them just crack me up love this one and learning how to take cutting thanks so much
First time purchasing hydrangeas this year. Will definitely propagate some for next years.Thank
I hadn’t thought of doing standards. I’ve got a black stem hydrangea I’d like to try that with.
Oh yes those are so pretty and unexpected!!! Monrovia has a pretty one with the black stems!!
I wonder how long it takes to grow into tree form 🤔
Great video !! And your kitchen is gorgeous ❤❤❤
You are so talented and your videos are so educational.
Thank you so much!
I only have one hydrangeas left 😢 that I keep shade cloth over. It’s in the 112-117 in Nevada right now.. Fall where are you 😩😩
Oh no! Keep your Hydrangeas under shade clothe until the heatwave passes! I'm the St Louis Missouri region We! We are hot here too but it cools down at night.. (Not 112-117 hot! The best time for you to cut would be the fall for sure! )
If roots form in 6 weeks, its now late july, how do i need to overwinter them for zone 5? Or do i plant them in the ground once they have roots? I too would love a follow up video
I will definitely have you all follow along for the journey! I would totally pop them in the ground mulch them in heavy with leaves etc around the base which will give them extra protection! You can also make a greenhouse for them right where you plant them at!
Wonderful video, ready for the follow up
This is the best way to propagate hydrangeas and save money! Thanks
Can this be done when the hydrangeas are in bloom?
Totally! Take from a stem that does not have anything blooming on them!
@@GardenQueen I’m going to try this!
You the Queen of Hydrangeas for real Propagating. Can't wait to see all the beautiful blooms
Hydrangea Propagation!! Nice video ... I'm going to try your method! Thanks & God bless you!
Thanks for the info. Love the new apron!
Thank you so much!!
I agree, Dollar Tree has a great selection of gardening supplies including heirloom seeds. Two yrs ago I accidentally lost my bell pepper seedlings and had to replant fast. So DT to the rescue. The DT pepper seeds did so well I use them all the time now and many others from there. Their cutters, clips and cloches are also very good for light use. I start my lily bulbs in their 6” bottom watering pots. I love DT. Nice video TFS!!
Thank you!! I am right with you!!!
I have a favorite hydrangea in my garden and now I’m going to take a cutting and try to grow one myself. Great instructions! Thank you!
Thank you, can’t wait to try this. I’ve learned so much from you.
Thank you so much! The easiest way to propagate Hydrangeas!
Hydrangea Propagation❤
My hydrangeas got caught by that late March freeze too. Absolutely devastated. In 15 years in this house that’s never happened. I came really close to ripping them out. But other than oak leaf hydrangeas the big leafs are my favorite. Especially my deep purple ones.
Next year I plan to cover them with frost cloth from the time they bud until last frost date.
I propagate mine in one of those big clear storage containers. My husband drilled some holes in the top. I call it my Prop Box. I had a bunch of small terracotta pots left over from kid projects so I use those.
I like to give hydrangeas as gifts so I usually propagate dozens each spring so using the Prop Box is so convenient.
Totally cover them for sure! One thing to consider is snow load! I used to use hoops around mine!
@@GardenQueen we don’t tend to get much snow, though if we do it will be in March so I’ll keep that in mind.
I live in Bolingbrook il. about 45 min, from Chicago it’s get very cold here lots of snow my hydrangeas never die as well as my neighbors
@@albertareid8258 my hydrangeas don’t die from the March freezes we get it just kills the buds. Here our hydrangeas leaf out early sometimes in February because we have such warm winters. Then those late freezes kill the buds.
Excellent demonstration! Now I know the best way to do it for next spring❤
Enjoy your videos. Wish you had merchandise. One of the few informative bloggers. I would buy a garden queen apron or tee.
Just found you! Love this. I’m going to try this. I’m retired. Money is a little tight and plants seem very expensive lately. Thank you girlfriend
Hydrangea propagation. Really interesting and informative video. I will definitely be giving this a go with some of my hydrangeas. Bless you for all that you do. Xxx
She is definitely the Queen! Great tips, I am motivated. Hydrangea Queen 👏👏👏
Hi My friend!! This video is so inspiring!! I learned so much. As always thanks fie sharing the how to do....😊
Thank you so much my friend!
I have rooted hydrangeas from new tips, but never on old stems. I will try this. I noticed you did not use hormone powder , do they root just as fast without it ? When using old stems does it matter how long the stem is and can they be cut in late summer? Thanks, love you, girlfriend.
Good morning to you vary nice plants thank for sharing beautiful and amazing plants lovely collection
Yea for Hydrangea propagation! Thank you.
Hydrangea Propagation....I'm going to try this...even though I can only keep hydrangeas for 2 years before i end up destroying them🤷🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️😢🥴
How do you destroy them
@@ariamason7406 they get to a certain size and they start dying 😢
Thank you!! Loved this video ❤
I recently discovered your channel and it’s fantastic! Your videos are so engaging. I’ve watched a lot of hydrangea propagation videos but this is by far the best.

Queen, do you ever use rooting hormone especially for the hydrangea propagation that have wood stems ? 🌸❤️🇨🇦
Yes! I love love love rooting hormone!!
@@GardenQueenI could give you a big ol' Southern hug! For years when my hydrangeas got 6 feet tall under my eaves which were 4 feet deep, I would cut about 3 feet off and just stick them in the dirt at the base of each plant. No one believed me! 😹 Bless you for being at one with the soil! AND, thank you for mentoring thousands on your channel! 🙏💕
Thank You Queen, I learned alot !
Thank you so much!!

I learned a lot from this video, thanks!
Does this work for panicle hydrangeas?
Yes totally! I would puth them in water first or use rooting hormone when before you stick it in the perlite immediately after cutting!!
@@GardenQueen do you think it would work with cuttings now, or is it only going to work in the spring?
Hydrangea propagation! Thanks, Garden Queen, for showing us how to do this!
Thank you! So much!!!
Girl you messing up your nice countertop, get a very 😊😊😊cheap table cloth, or garages bags,

Is the Topiary Eugenia growing in the ground or is it in a container?
It's in a container! 💕
@GardenQueen Cool! I just planted four in the ground. I know most plant in containers but I wanted them blended into my front landscaping. Fingers crossed 🤞🏾 they grow out well!
So smart and very informative! Thanks for sharing your great tips. How often do you water the cuttings?

Thank you ❤️
Hello everyone. New to the channel Do u think it’s good now to transplant a hydrangea now plant didn get big at all this year planted last year
Hello and welcome! I honestly would wait 6 weeks before your first frost! I have transplanted in the middle of the summer in the heat! But if I had to move it I would use a starter Fertilizer like Espoma, Jobes etc. I would give the plant water the night before! I would dig my new hole first! Dig the plant out then.. before I took it hydrangea from the old hole... I would put water in the new hole and submerge the plant into the water into the new hole! I would also do this closer to night. When the temps have come back down but then it has night time to acclimate to the move... also I would do it on a cloudy day.. preferably if there are days in a row that will be cloudy.
@@GardenQueen thank you so much . Love love ur Chan

So interesting; I feel like I’m going a good garden show on HGTV. I’m definitely going to try this too.
Also, why are the leaves on my panicle hydrangeas turning yellow and falling off? 🥺 The blooms are gorgeous, but a lot of the leaves look bad
Thank you so much! This is normal! Will update in a video! Keep watering don't over water everything will be fine. Also check for insects if nothing then this is the plant cooling down for sure!
