My mom passed away a few years ago. I used to play Ocarina all the time and she used to sit to watch me. Never played, but always paid attention. This video took me right there and then and gave me all the emotions. Thank you!
I used to be a seminarian (don't know if it's the exact term in English, but I studied to be catholic priest). When I was in charge of the music for our weekly meditation and adoration I used to put Zelda songs too, hahahaha. Besides my friends that I'd told, no one never knew the difference to a classic meditation song.
Musicians and worship leaders are definitely the badasses of the church world. 😂 We appreciate and connect with music no matter where it comes from. Always loved slipping stuff in there as long as it fit the message/mood.

The most amazing thing about Ocarina's of Time's soundtrack is that just like the game it quite literally transports people back in time to their youth.
I remember when i was on my mom's church theater and they used a violin medieval song from FAIRY TAIL, my boyfriend realized instantly and we couldn't stop laughing in a church theater. Fun day.

This song will always make me cry. Reminds me of childhood but childhood wasn't always so good. As I'm sure is the same for anyone else. The game was there to distract us. The music was there to remind us.
Then you hear a voice from the back of the church: "thank you Lord, nowplayzeldaslullabyplease on this blessed day... Amen!" (and a look around to see if no one noticed the encrypted message)
The melody was perfect for when it was used. I doubt the priest fella knew the song, but he def seemed to kno the vibe. Excellent playing, truly incredible ✌️
My love for sound design started while playing Nintendo. Paper Mario, Perfect Dark, EVERY Zelda game, Golden Eye.. to mention a few. Sometimes I still go listen for nostalgia. Nice work 👏🏾

This just makes total sense. Ocarina of Time feels like a blessing, a total masterpiece, a thing to remember with tearfull eyes, a bible for the lucky ones who played and understood it.

But you can find old official Nintendo Japanese art of link praying to christ, and having a crucifix on his shield. As a matter, some of the items you get in the old games still have crucifixes on them, but changed the item from the Bible to a magic book. He was a Christian night from Zelda 1, Zelda 2, and link to the past.

I dont know if anyone will ever read this, so im more just saying my thoughts out loud. There is something so beautiful about Zelda music, and yet something so sacred about church, especially during peoples time alone with God. I dont think this was bad, but if this were me I probably wouldnt be filming it, and maybe selected a gorgeous melody that wouldn't distract me from God. Something very special about keeping church sacred and holy, and this was pointing the connection the other way.
I can’t help but agree with you on this point. Yes, I LOVE the music from the Zelda games. But, I go to church to put my mind on G-d and all that I’ve done to deserve death so I can repent and then hear the Good News that is the Gospel. If I were to hear a piece of Zelda music in church, it would take my mind away from G-d in that moment, and that’s not what music should be doing in church. The church I go to is very “high church” and liturgical with sacred music to fit the service. And as others have pointed out in the comments, all things, good or bad, G-d can, has, and will use for His Glory. I think what matters hear is the intent of the person playing the music in G-d’s house-is it for His Glory alone? Or is it for internet fame/clout?
