No, seriously, the red elite in the Halo Legends episode “The Package” is supposed to be the same Thel Vadamee as The Arbiter from Halo 2 and 3. This was later retconned, now that Elite is just some other guy named Thel, but still, the idiot apparently didn’t even play Halo 2. He also thinks Halo CE’s story involved a “prophecy” (he said that in an interview), and he apparently doesn’t realize that the Elites broke off from the covenant entirely, because he thinks humanity and the Covenant came to a truce at the end of Halo 3.

It's gone for sure. The loss of Joe killed a huge part of the OG fanbase. We'll rebuild and get something new if Halo, and 343, get back on track, but I'll agree with you. Just feels over to some extent, even tho I know it's not.
Even with the franchise being driven into the ground they even manage to screw up the community side of it. The mods they have on the official community pages like Waypoint, Reddit, and Discord are prone to throwing ban tantrums for petty reasons.

Sadly, there isn't a future for Halo, at least for me. They've had a decade, and they didn't really show that they had much interest in making a Halo game, over milking Halo itself as much as possible. I'm just tired of the disappointment and half arsed products that aren't even complete, and I'm not willing to put that much trust in developers until they prove to me that they can actually do better. They fixed MCC finally, after WAY too long too, and they've added mod support. As far as I'm concerned, they keep that going strong, it's enough for me. Anything new though, I'm waiting until it's painfully apparent that 343 finally pull their heads out of their arses, and just do better. ...Also, can I request an mp4 of that Vsauce bit, seperate of the 343 statement? They need to go thr route of Halo 3: ODST. A story that isn't focused on Master Chief. A horror game with The Flood as its focus would be perf. Maybe a campaign that follows a story during the Human/Covenant war where you play from the perspective of an Elite Spec Ops. Just something that gives us the stories we've heard about from the novels into game form.
Ever since the first Halo I have so badly hoped we would get a Game that's focused on the Flood in a sorta eerie, horror style way. The possibilities are huge. The story and level design they could build has so much potential. (But after everything 343 has shown. I would want a new dev team working on this project. Heck the community mods are way better and more fun than anything 343 has done. So ya, I'd like anyone else to make this or any other future halo ideas)
I gave up on Halo, and won't come back until 343I leaves. Between O'Connor's lore rewrites, the art direction and gameplay changes, and Infinite's failed live service and campaign, 343I failed and I'm moving on.

At this point I think you need to do a REALLY HARD reboot in order to "save Halo". CoD did it with MW 2019 & MW 2 2021 being a reboot of MW 2007 - 2013. No need to write everything new wholesale, but the point is that you can actually "brute force" lore consistency as well as actually have a goal. How hard or soft will the sci-fi will be? Do you want to tell a story? Save the universe? Explore the lore? Focus on Master Chief? And so on.

I personally prefer it to be actual medium-hard sci-fi, which basically means anything that isn't slipspace, radiators, energy shielding and Forerunner tech should be mathematically, physically, militarily, societally, structurally and in design, realistic, and even those that aren't realistic still has to be somewhat rooted in realism. This would modify a lot of the lore. For example: Aging. Why humans age so quickly in Halo? The thing is that cancer is essentially can be cured with just one treatment away. A human civilization which: - Cures cancer like it's not a big deal - Puts neural implants to all their personnel (which in real life would bar a lot of cultures & religions from enlisting) Would essentially issues cellular immortality to everyone, or at least making humans' average lifespan to be 120-150 years old, and aging would be far slower. I'm talking Halsey, Lord Hood, etc being middle aged and only Big Maggie being old lady. But, if say, Lord Hood is that old (eg. Say, 120 years old): - Lord Hood is James Cutter's XO before Halo Wars, so James Cutter's age should change - Changing Cutter's age would also change Stanforth, Cole, Dunforth etc's age to Big Maggie - Stanforth is the one who recruited Halsey to ONI, so Halsey's age changes too - Changing Halsey's age = Changing the Keyes' age, SPARTAN IIs age, and so much more. See? Just by "Realistically, a society which can cure cancer like it's not a big deal and also puts neural implants to all their military personnel would see human's average lifespan & healthy span to be basically if not biologically immortal then "Big Maggie is really 160 years old" WILL change a significant aspect of the lore. That's just one detail; there's more, like how in real life, Super MAC would be a BFG 10000-level planet killer. A very credible strategy for the UNSC with that level of Super MAC power would be to equip Mocton-class orbital defense platform (the Mocton-class, the ones used at Earth since it uses independent internal power supply) with slipspace drive, then slipspace to Balaho, Doisac, Te etc and shoot the planet with nuke or neutron bomb-laced MAC rounds to genocide its population until the Reclamation (space time recovery after slipspace is done), then slipspace back to UNSC territory. Or, weapons in Halo are SPARTAN-sized and not Marine-sized (they are comically large for its caliber; seriously, why not just make the weapons Marine-sized then have SPARTANs dual wield assault rifles or something), and more. I can go on and on, like, say, spaceship design. Or, how unrealistic gravity plates are that in real life any civilization where grav ball is a child's play would be Forerunner Tier 1 OP since they would be able to stick a black holes in missiles and shoot them to planets to genocide the population. It may be fun to infer one thing or another with what’s happening with them; what they’re saying; what they’re doing; but eventually, you have to acknowledge that all you want as a consumer is a good product. It doesn’t matter who makes it. As far as Halo goes, I’m still enjoying the good games. I’d love to get another one. I avoid the bad ones. Life is good.

I mean I am more inclined to put more responsibility on 343 industries, they have always had this pattern of saying, 'we learnt it this time' and 'we listened', but everything everyone is saying about halo infinite being 'better' were already lessons that they should have learnt with halo 4,5 and MCC , but they are still making a lot of mistakes that should not be happening from launch. I mean I feel insulted that they seem to be playing me for a fool with the way they treat the consumers and the games, let alone the franchise.

There was probably no prospect of 343i developing a new campaign in any reasonable timeframe, so instead of disentangling the situation at the studio, MS simply disbanded the single player team. I don't think the reset button for the series is necessarily the wrong thing to do. In the meantime, they should fix the persistent issues with Infinite and integrate community creations into matchmaking. Adding campaign AI to Forge could result in fun PvE content. They should foster the small community that would remain with Infinite and spread good word for the game, while working on the next-generation of Halo in the background. Also, the story is such a mess I don't care what happens in the lore anymore.

But the problem is where do you reset the story? Complete reboot makes no sense. The prophet of truth refers to the Forerunners as “your forefathers” when talking to Johnson after killing Miranda, the Gravemind calls Chief “child of my enemy,” Spark calls us “child of my makers” and outright says “you are Forerunner,” even Dr. Halsey in Reach calls Forerunner knowledge “a birthright from an ancient civilization.” My favorite though has to be from Contact Harvest, written by Joe Staten and released shortly after Halo 3, Mendicant Bias says this: “This symbol is not ‘reclamation,’ it is ‘reclaimer,’ and those it represents are my makers.” A reset would only be necessary for everything after Halo 3, at least chronologically, Halo Reach and Fall of Reach aren’t impossible to reconcile without further retcons. The only person at 343 preventing this is Frank O’Connor, he was also the only person at Bungie who didn’t seem to think Forerunners were Humans, among several other massive lore errors. The thing is, when Joe Staten was recently “fired,” he actually wasn’t entirely, while he’s not working under 343 anymore he’s still working for Microsoft. This is just probably a massive cope on my part, but I seriously hope Frank is fired and replaced by Joe.

After the last decade of disaster after disaster I am glad that management of this awful company is finally being let go, this should have happened 8 years ago in 2015 after MCC. Bonnie is out, Kiki is out, all we need next is Frankie and some of the toxic community people like Snickerdoodle, Postums and Unyshek and I think we'll be much better off. The only issue is time, Halo Infinite itself was already 6 years after Halo 5 now its who knows how many years before the next full title. You say Halo might need to be "put to rest for a couple of years" but that ALREADY happened, thats was Infinite was supposed to be. I'm sorry but now I have to seriously consider I might die of old age at this point before I see a good Halo.
The Halo community already got divided when Halo 4 dropped and it's only gotten more divided with each game and trans media 343 has released, I personally don't have any faith or good will left for 343 anymore but if they can prove me wrong in the future than I will sing their praises but with 4 Halo games being broken, unfinished disappointments and the awful TV show Halo as a franchise is in a pretty bad state right now compared to it's competition, I mean lets be honest Halo can't even compete anymore with games like COD, Fortnite, Apex, Valorant, CSGO, Tarkov etc. I just hope that whatever we get next for Halo is actually made with the Halo fans in mind first and not trying to chase more trends or trying to appeal to that "broader audience". As someone who grew up with Halo, I actually enjoyed all of them yeah some where better then others I actually wish that 343 continued doing their own thing then listening to Bungie fanboys and when they finally do (Infinite) they literally dropped the ball harder then Battlefield because they actually had a great game and did NOTHING for content, how do you make your game "live service" when theirs nothing live about it? I've finished S2 BP months ago it's fun playing but we all need progression,constant events,game modes and maps to keep us engaged as a live service game should be not new seasons every half year almost

Idk man, it’s not like 343 had a good track record as a big, bloated studio prior to these layoffs. I know the operating assumption here is “layoffs = bad” but my blind hope is that they just shed a lot of dead weight that had accumulated over the years and that they can now move forward as a leaner, more focused and efficient unit, unencumbered by factional bickering between the new and the old guards. Not to sound too callous (because undoubtedly some people lost their jobs who didn’t deserve to), but heads needed to roll after not only the ongoing debacle that has been Infinite, but the past several games that 343 has overseen. Frankly, there were points I was so disgusted with Halo’s state that I wanted everyone at 343 fired and the studio closed.
Could be on some hopium but I personally think Pierre will keep it together. He’s used to having little to no resources (MCC dev) and having to make the best of it. So despite the layoffs, I don’t see this getting worse than it is already.

I think what 343 lost along the way developing Halo was the small things and one big thing, and all those small things became a gaping chasm--a piece that is now missing in Halos identity. The big thing is the dev retention, the use of contractors building up the skill with the engine just to be thrown away like a used tissue.

Literally doesn't look grim. 343 and Phil Spencer all came out pretty clear that 343 and it's NEW management is in charge of Halo. Give the new management a chance i really like Pierre he saved Mcc i think with time he can save Infinite. The campaign team cuts are the one that sucks the most to me but the rumors that the entire campaign team was cut I don't believe that at all and that was never confirmed.
I dont think we should have another halo game. If there no longer exists individuals who are making the halo we deserve and fell in love with, then no. I dont want to see another half assed iteration of something that was so handcrafted and cared for by its builders. I think the right move would be a middle ground of the 2 extremes, developer or publisher. 343 could continue to be the main devs, working on the general multiplayer, live service, battle passes, etc. CA is already working on Tatanka, so I see no reason that another studio couldn’t be working on a campaign DLC with 343’s oversight.
I think all story elements are complete, the issue is contractor work and a decision was made to continue using contract devs rather than internal or Atleast getting cords untangled before maintaining internal devs
Things are going to be rough. They have been for a while. But hopefully within the next few years 343 will make big enough changes to make the franchise great again. It's not right that so many talented people had to go thanks to the incompetent management.

I think the funniest thing with all of this, with everything that 343 have done, is that it could have been avoided if they didn't make Halo 4. They wanted to make a COD Halo right? But they also wanted a new faction and to keep the Covenant around, AND to have a more emotional Chief. The answer is so obvious it just shows their blatant creative incompetency and lack of knowledge regarding the story of the Spartans. The answer to all their woes? MAKE A HALO GAME ABOUT THE CIVIL WAR. You know, the one where it is Insurrectionist vs UNSC, human vs human? When Chief was younger and could easily be written as more emotional before becoming hardened from decades of war? Now, your weapons can look different to the current weapons, now you can have it be more like COD without warping the mechanics. The mid story twist is that the Covenant attack. Boom, ez money. You already have the framework for the start of the war with Halo The Fall of Reach, and, if you set it at the very start, you don't even have to deal with Bungie's retcons. Who wouldn't want to go through stealth raids on Insurgent bases or actually play the Spartans' first attack on a Covenant Cruiser? See Sam's sacrifice. It was staring 343 right in the face but no, we have to retcon the Forerunners, we have to retcon the consequences of the Human Covenant War, we need to change the art style, we need to change everything. 343 still having Halo in their clutches is unfathomable.
Maybe in 3-5 years, Certain Affinity will have the mantle of responsibility and release a Halo title that actually lives up to the original games. And maybe pigs will fly and Megan will come back...
Honestly man. This franchise has been leaving a sour taste in my mouth since Halo 4 and 5. I'm a lot happier when I don't talk about or play Halo anymore. You'd be surprised how many horrible people exist in this community. I also think this is the end for Halo. There is nothing that can truly save this franchise again. Its over.
How about if Halo Infinite is COMPLETED, get a rework on the campaign with few DLCs, improve the biomes and close this chapter adding split screen, vehicles and weapons for the campaign. That could be one redemption. However the best thing here is to assemble the team that CONCEIVED Halo. It needs a bigger team and rework the franchise. Maybe a reboot of Halo 4, 5 and Infinite is needed. At this point the franchise is DEAD and inert. Someone needs to do something. Otherwise people will move on, drop this game and stick to Sony's franchises after all the disdain they got with MS. That's where things are now. No, seriously, the red elite in the Halo Legends episode “The Package” is supposed to be the same Thel Vadamee as The Arbiter from Halo 2 and 3. This was later retconned, now that Elite is just some other guy named Thel, but still, the idiot apparently didn’t even play Halo 2. He also thinks Halo CE’s story involved a “prophecy” (he said that in an interview), and he apparently doesn’t realize that the Elites broke off from the covenant entirely, because he thinks humanity and the Covenant came to a truce at the end of Halo 3.

It's gone for sure. The loss of Joe killed a huge part of the OG fanbase. We'll rebuild and get something new if Halo, and 343, get back on track, but I'll agree with you. Just feels over to some extent, even tho I know it's not.
Even with the franchise being driven into the ground they even manage to screw up the community side of it. The mods they have on the official community pages like Waypoint, Reddit, and Discord are prone to throwing ban tantrums for petty reasons.

Microsoft needs to give Halo to another studio already and let 343 make their Call of Duty Power Ranger fantasy that they always wanted to make. It took hundreds of people to build Halo's story, lore and identity and one man (Frank O'Connor) to destroy it all. Sadly, there isn't a future for Halo, at least for me. They've had a decade, and they didn't really show that they had much interest in making a Halo game, over milking Halo itself as much as possible.
I'm just tired of the disappointment and half arsed products that aren't even complete, and I'm not willing to put that much trust in developers until they prove to me that they can actually do better.
They fixed MCC finally, after WAY too long too, and they've added mod support. As far as I'm concerned, they keep that going strong, it's enough for me.
Anything new though, I'm waiting until it's painfully apparent that 343 finally pull their heads out of their arses, and just do better.

They need to go thr route of Halo 3: ODST. A story that isn't focused on Master Chief. A horror game with The Flood as its focus would be perf. Maybe a campaign that follows a story during the Human/Covenant war where you play from the perspective of an Elite Spec Ops. Just something that gives us the stories we've heard about from the novels into game form.

Ever since the first Halo I have so badly hoped we would get a Game that's focused on the Flood in a sorta eerie, horror style way. The possibilities are huge. The story and level design they could build has so much potential. (But after everything 343 has shown. I would want a new dev team working on this project. Heck the community mods are way better and more fun than anything 343 has done. So ya, I'd like anyone else to make this or any other future halo ideas)

I gave up on Halo, and won't come back until 343I leaves. Between O'Connor's lore rewrites, the art direction and gameplay changes, and Infinite's failed live service and campaign, 343I failed and I'm moving on.

At this point I think you need to do a REALLY HARD reboot in order to "save Halo".

Halo is a soft sci-fi trying to be hard sci-fi. What do you want, soft or hard? I personally prefer it to be actual medium-hard sci-fi, which basically means anything that isn't slipspace, radiators, energy shielding and Forerunner tech should be mathematically, physically, militarily, societally, structurally and in design, realistic, and even those that aren't realistic still has to be somewhat rooted in realism.
This would modify a lot of the lore.
For example:
Aging. Why humans age so quickly in Halo?
The thing is that cancer is essentially can be cured with just one treatment away.
A human civilization which:
- Cures cancer like it's not a big deal
- Puts neural implants to all their personnel (which in real life would bar a lot of cultures & religions from enlisting)
Would essentially issues cellular immortality to everyone, or at least making humans' average lifespan to be 120-150 years old, and aging would be far slower. I'm talking Halsey, Lord Hood, etc being middle aged and only Big Maggie being old lady.
But, if say, Lord Hood is that old (eg. Say, 120 years old):
- Lord Hood is James Cutter's XO before Halo Wars, so James Cutter's age should change
- Changing Cutter's age would also change Stanforth, Cole, Dunforth etc's age to Big Maggie
- Stanforth is the one who recruited Halsey to ONI, so Halsey's age changes too
- Changing Halsey's age = Changing the Keyes' age, SPARTAN IIs age, and so much more.
See? Just by "Realistically, a society which can cure cancer like it's not a big deal and also puts neural implants to all their military personnel would see human's average lifespan & healthy span to be basically if not biologically immortal then "Big Maggie is really 160 years old" WILL change a significant aspect of the lore.
That's just one detail; there's more, like how in real life, Super MAC would be a BFG 10000-level planet killer.
A very credible strategy for the UNSC with that level of Super MAC power would be to equip Mocton-class orbital defense platform (the Mocton-class, the ones used at Earth since it uses independent internal power supply) with slipspace drive, then slipspace to Balaho, Doisac, Te etc and shoot the planet with nuke or neutron bomb-laced MAC rounds to genocide its population until the Reclamation (space time recovery after slipspace is done), then slipspace back to UNSC territory.
Or, weapons in Halo are SPARTAN-sized and not Marine-sized (they are comically large for its caliber; seriously, why not just make the weapons Marine-sized then have SPARTANs dual wield assault rifles or something), and more.
I can go on and on, like, say, spaceship design. Or, how unrealistic gravity plates are that in real life any civilization where grav ball is a child's play would be Forerunner Tier 1 OP since they would be able to stick a black holes in missiles and shoot them to planets to genocide the population.

One lesson I’ve learned about the consumer-product relationship is that there are better things to invest time and emotion into than a bunch of random names of people you’ve never met and are likely never going to meet. It may be fun to infer one thing or another with what’s happening with them; what they’re saying; what they’re doing; but eventually, you have to acknowledge that all you want as a consumer is a good product. It doesn’t matter who makes it.
As far as Halo goes, I’m still enjoying the good games. I’d love to get another one. I avoid the bad ones. Life is good.

I mean I am more inclined to put more responsibility on 343 industries, they have always had this pattern of saying, 'we learnt it this time' and 'we listened', but everything everyone is saying about halo infinite being 'better' were already lessons that they should have learnt with halo 4,5 and MCC , but they are still making a lot of mistakes that should not be happening from launch. I mean I feel insulted that they seem to be playing me for a fool with the way they treat the consumers and the games, let alone the franchise.

There was probably no prospect of 343i developing a new campaign in any reasonable timeframe, so instead of disentangling the situation at the studio, MS simply disbanded the single player team. I don't think the reset button for the series is necessarily the wrong thing to do. In the meantime, they should fix the persistent issues with Infinite and integrate community creations into matchmaking. Adding campaign AI to Forge could result in fun PvE content. They should foster the small community that would remain with Infinite and spread good word for the game, while working on the next-generation of Halo in the background.
Also, the story is such a mess I don't care what happens in the lore anymore.
The reset button is absolutely necessary, The Forerunner trilogy of books alone completely destroyed Halo’s lore.

The prophet of truth refers to the Forerunners as “your forefathers” when talking to Johnson after killing Miranda, the Gravemind calls Chief “child of my enemy,” Spark calls us “child of my makers” and outright says “you are Forerunner,” even Dr. Halsey in Reach calls Forerunner knowledge “a birthright from an ancient civilization.” My favorite though has to be from Contact Harvest, written by Joe Staten and released shortly after Halo 3, Mendicant Bias says this: “This symbol is not ‘reclamation,’ it is ‘reclaimer,’ and those it represents are my makers.”
A reset would only be necessary for everything after Halo 3, at least chronologically, Halo Reach and Fall of Reach aren’t impossible to reconcile without further retcons. The only person at 343 preventing this is Frank O’Connor, he was also the only person at Bungie who didn’t seem to think Forerunners were Humans, among several other massive lore errors. The thing is, when Joe Staten was recently “fired,” he actually wasn’t entirely, while he’s not working under 343 anymore he’s still working for Microsoft. This is just probably a massive cope on my part, but I seriously hope Frank is fired and replaced by Joe.

We can go lower? Season 2 lasted NINE MONTHS and the only thing it added was two maps. Season 3 after 9 months is looking to add...2 maps, a DMR without a scope and...a smoke screen equipment and thats it. Outside of 1 update a year how much worse can it get? And even then thats not much worse than what we already got.
After the last decade of disaster after disaster I am glad that management of this awful company is finally being let go, this should have happened 8 years ago in 2015 after MCC. Bonnie is out, Kiki is out, all we need next is Frankie and some of the toxic community people like Snickerdoodle, Postums and Unyshek and I think we'll be much better off.
The only issue is time, Halo Infinite itself was already 6 years after Halo 5 now its who knows how many years before the next full title. You say Halo might need to be "put to rest for a couple of years" but that ALREADY happened, thats was Infinite was supposed to be. I'm sorry but now I have to seriously consider I might die of old age at this point before I see a good Halo.
The Halo community already got divided when Halo 4 dropped and it's only gotten more divided with each game and trans media 343 has released, I personally don't have any faith or good will left for 343 anymore but if they can prove me wrong in the future than I will sing their praises but with 4 Halo games being broken, unfinished disappointments and the awful TV show Halo as a franchise is in a pretty bad state right now compared to it's competition, I mean lets be honest Halo can't even compete anymore with games like COD, Fortnite, Apex, Valorant, CSGO, Tarkov etc. I just hope that whatever we get next for Halo is actually made with the Halo fans in mind first and not trying to chase more trends or trying to appeal to that "broader audience". As someone who grew up with Halo, I actually enjoyed all of them yeah some where better then others I actually wish that 343 continued doing their own thing then listening to Bungie fanboys and when they finally do (Infinite) they literally dropped the ball harder then Battlefield because they actually had a great game and did NOTHING for content, how do you make your game "live service" when theirs nothing live about it? I've finished S2 BP months ago it's fun playing but we all need progression,constant events,game modes and maps to keep us engaged as a live service game should be not new seasons every half year almost

Its too late. Halos reputation is permanently damaged, the fanbase shrunken and divided, and it's value to gaming as a whole ultimately reduced to nothing.
Idk man, it’s not like 343 had a good track record as a big, bloated studio prior to these layoffs. I know the operating assumption here is “layoffs = bad” but my blind hope is that they just shed a lot of dead weight that had accumulated over the years and that they can now move forward as a leaner, more focused and efficient unit, unencumbered by factional bickering between the new and the old guards. Not to sound too callous (because undoubtedly some people lost their jobs who didn’t deserve to), but heads needed to roll after not only the ongoing debacle that has been Infinite, but the past several games that 343 has overseen. Frankly, there were points I was so disgusted with Halo’s state that I wanted everyone at 343 fired and the studio closed.

I think what 343 lost along the way developing Halo was the small things and one big thing, and all those small things became a gaping chasm--a piece that is now missing in Halos identity. The big thing is the dev retention, the use of contractors building up the skill with the engine just to be thrown away like a used tissue.

Give the new management a chance i really like Pierre he saved Mcc i think with time he can save Infinite. The campaign team cuts are the one that sucks the most to me but the rumors that the entire campaign team was cut I don't believe that at all and that was never confirmed.

I think the right move would be a middle ground of the 2 extremes, developer or publisher. 343 could continue to be the main devs, working on the general multiplayer, live service, battle passes, etc. CA is already working on Tatanka, so I see no reason that another studio couldn’t be working on a campaign DLC with 343’s oversight.

Things are going to be rough. They have been for a while. But hopefully within the next few years 343 will make big enough changes to make the franchise great again. It's not right that so many talented people had to go thanks to the incompetent management.
I'm so frustrated how 343 & Microsoft is handling all of this. This franchise and IP has all but faded into obscurity...and rather than making needed changes...we are reassured that 343 isn't going anyway. The Halo community and Halo community at large doesn't want assurance. We want serious change. We want Halo in better hands. How do they not get that?

343 has still mor made a single good Halo game. Halo 4 was shit. Halo 5 was better but confused. Halo Infinite could have been good if not for the tedious open world lack of a plot and a broken unfinished multiplayer. Hell it can be argued each 343 Halo things only got worse and worse.

I think for now I'm done with halo. Maybe if 343 can get their game together and finally bring split screen coop to infinite I might come back. But right now I'm tired of the constant fracturing of this fanbase, I'm tired of seeing my favorite franchise be mismanaged. To me halo died at 4 there is no future just an never ending train wreck. Unless we get a reboot in 10 years that's faithful to the source material or something idk
I think the funniest thing with all of this, with everything that 343 have done, is that it could have been avoided if they didn't make Halo 4. They wanted to make a COD Halo right? But they also wanted a new faction and to keep the Covenant around, AND to have a more emotional Chief. The answer is so obvious it just shows their blatant creative incompetency and lack of knowledge regarding the story of the Spartans. The answer to all their woes? MAKE A HALO GAME ABOUT THE CIVIL WAR. You know, the one where it is Insurrectionist vs UNSC, human vs human? When Chief was younger and could easily be written as more emotional before becoming hardened from decades of war? Now, your weapons can look different to the current weapons, now you can have it be more like COD without warping the mechanics. The mid story twist is that the Covenant attack. Boom, ez money. You already have the framework for the start of the war with Halo The Fall of Reach, and, if you set it at the very start, you don't even have to deal with Bungie's retcons.
Who wouldn't want to go through stealth raids on Insurgent bases or actually play the Spartans' first attack on a Covenant Cruiser? See Sam's sacrifice. It was staring 343 right in the face but no, we have to retcon the Forerunners, we have to retcon the consequences of the Human Covenant War, we need to change the art style, we need to change everything.
343 still having Halo in their clutches is unfathomable.
Maybe in 3-5 years, Certain Affinity will have the mantle of responsibility and release a Halo title that actually lives up to the original games.
And maybe pigs will fly and Megan will come back...

Honestly man. This franchise has been leaving a sour taste in my mouth since Halo 4 and 5. I'm a lot happier when I don't talk about or play Halo anymore. You'd be surprised how many horrible people exist in this community. I also think this is the end for Halo. There is nothing that can truly save this franchise again. Its over.

How about if Halo Infinite is COMPLETED, get a rework on the campaign with few DLCs, improve the biomes and close this chapter adding split screen, vehicles and weapons for the campaign.
That could be one redemption. However the best thing here is to assemble the team that CONCEIVED Halo. It needs a bigger team and rework the franchise. Maybe a reboot of Halo 4, 5 and Infinite is needed.
At this point the franchise is DEAD and inert. Someone needs to do something. Otherwise people will move on, drop this game and stick to Sony's franchises after all the disdain they got with MS.
