What I value most in this lesson is the ‘why’ as much as the ‘how to’. It makes me realise that I am that butterfly, flitting from flower to flower, learning something new without having explored the possibilities of each idea, and in essence learning very little. The fear that we might be practicing the wrong things and therefore wasting our time is ever present. It's important to be reminded when we are on the right track.

If you would like a book that goes through various permutations of three core II-V-I templates, I suggest Bert Ligon's Connecting Chords with Linear Harmony. He includes examples from some of the "greats".
