The Pacific Queen is literally a living legend that is soooo far beyond the entire west coast fleet and if the truth was known has prolly the best success record of all time. I have at least a dozen and half multi day trips of history dating back to the 80’s/90’s with Ed McEwen at the helm with some of the best deckhands you could ever have assisting. Truly an amazing boat that continues to succeed. Great video and great job staying bit. 👍🏻
Thank you, the service on this boat is top notch. The crew was amazing, our loss rate due to tangles was very low. The food was amazing. I now know why this boat is regarded as one of the best boats in the SoCal fishing fleet
Automatic 👍🏻 Pacific Queen is ICONIC. I have fished this boat since the 80’s with my dad. This boat possesses real VIBES,,,,, the kind that make only the most memorable experiences.
wide open day one holy... looking to get on my first tuna trip this year... definetly been grinding this year on the local full day trips and I think im ready to step up to it now. great video bro! definetly scratches the itch when im not able to get out on the boats lmao
@@twsd it went awesome I went home with 3 bluefin tuna. I was the first person with limits+. Captain and crew are the best of the best. You’ll have a blast
Loved the video. Where'ed you pick up the Maxel Transformer from? And that's a unique color. Reminds me of some of the Maxel Sealions that have recently been sold here.
My co worker lent me his reel so I can fish while I was waiting for my Jigging Master Monster Game PE8 to come in. He received it as a gift. It is definitely a cool color I really like it. Thanks for watching
Sick reel on that setup man! Yeah, fighting on actual jigging gear might take getting used to, but its a good way to see if you've been skipping the gym😂 and it beats using a rail rod imo.
@@DerrickVan who makes that reel? Also, should just call it a heavy tuna yo-yo setup 🤣. Should try slow pitch or LJ/SLJ too if you haven't already. Makes a huge difference on the fun factor
@socalfishincrew5410 if you fish it with heavy line there should be no problem. I have friends who do it all the time. They no longer bring bait rods they just reuse their jigging setups
Derrick, you switch gear faster then I change my underwear. What is the reel and what is the rod? What line are you using? This video was great !! It really captured the comradity we fishermen share.
I was fishing a Maxel Transformer on a Phenix Megaladon rod. I was fishing 80lbs Jigging Master gangster braid. Thank you for watching! It was a blast fishing
i’m going out with my grandson on the XL fishing boat out of San Diego in May 22 of 2024 for three day trip my grandsons ever been fishing on a boat like that in fact he’s never caught a fish before so I’m so excited to see him I’ve got lots of Marlon and selfish never a tuna the boats name is EXELL
It's a livre handle, you can find it on Evike.com It's pretty expensive though. But if you are trying to buy a nice jigging handle It's the one. I'm planning on upgrading my jigging master with it

Thank you, it was a very fun trip
I love your video but man your list of gears is not cheap. Congrats on your success on and off the boat!
Thank you! I was fortunate enough to build my gear list up over the years from picking away at good deals!

Thank you! This definitely beats a rail rods, way more hookups on the pump than just straight grinds

@@andrefloresca1324 it's a maxel reel. I will be posting a slow pitch video coming soon catching rockfish if we do good on that trip 👍
@@DerrickVan just don't forgrt to fish as light of a jig as you can get away with. Remember a deckhand telling me to fish a 300g in 150 foot of water😅
Can you also fish a sinker rig on a speed jogging rod?
You can
