The details you provide are "A+," so many videos say the exact same thing, you are the first to open the cup, give details of hand/fingers. What is slip defined was helpful. Many thanks. Mona
Heres an idea, follow the process up to 3:22 and then repeat, making a second pot of the same size. Score and slip both rims and attach them. Now you have a hollow vessel to make anything with! I remember this from my senior year pottery class.
Just started working with clay and I'm very excited to start following your tutorial. A couple of questions: 1) What kind of clay are you using? 2) If air dry, what kind do you suggest? I looked at a lot of reviews online, but they were very inconsistent, especially how much they may or may not crack as they air dry.
Wow this was so straight forward and concise! I appreciate the demo with the glass cup! I’ve been pinching all wrong ): lol but I’m excited to get back in the studio and practice with my new knowledge! Also loved the music choice. Thank you!,
Great tutorial - my instructor won't let us use water yet because we are in the beginner class. It's been rough, because the clay cracks. He also said "the clay should be paper thin" and then my pot collapses because it was too thin. 0_0 why.....
Omg! I'm taking a ceramics class and couldn't figure out how to not let it get so wide. So glad I came across this, my greenware is due tomorrow morning!
Danny!! We were so impressed by this video! It was so well done, snd it ranked first when we typed in “pinch pot” 👏👏👏 awesome job, we can’t wait to begin our first pottery class in the next couple weeks!!🔥
a great tutorial on making a pinch pot. clear concise directions showing what it looks like at different stages tips on what to do if something is not quite right and aditions to the design Wish I had known about this when I sttarted potty. Thnanks aheaps DFanny
Is this possible to do in 55 mins? I haven’t been paying attention for the 5 days we got and now I gotta get a good grade and I have one class left to make it
Such a great video! Thank you! Instead of pinching, can you cut the clay into pieces and stick them together to make the shape you wanted, like a square shape pot?

I'm using Archie Bray Clay Stoneware, Cone 10. I don't recommend any air dry clay. hahhaa. sorry
That's was awesome. I learned so much. Well done. Thank you!

Thank you this was very helpful 💜
Nice! That's the work of a real pro.
This tutorial is awesome, but I still can't figure out how to not let it get too wide 😩
If you don't have a banding wheel, lazy Susan. or anything, you can just use a small paper plate. It actually works shockingly well.
Great advice, thank you!

Thank you. I hope to make more in the weeks to come. I've been lazy. Good luck in class!
Cutting it in half to show us how it looks on the inside during the process is really helpful! Thank you so much. ☺️🙏🏻
What a great idea to include sequential cross sections to demonstrate progression of the 'pinching' process. Excellent video! Thank you for this!
Searched for "pinch pot" this is the first video that comes up...rightfully so!
The most thoroughly explained video I have ever come across for any genre/topic. Thank you.
That’s amazing and you made a beautiful foot ring 😍 I wish it was included in the video how you did it step by step
Everyone : oh he's really talented this looks so good
Him: DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY I HAD TO MAKE FOR THE EXAMPLES ?!
Thank you so much, mines due in class in a few days and I’m so lost
Paddling also helps to compress the clay walls but it also makes it dry a little faster
i could smell the clay 😤

What's neat is that despite being a slightly different medium, I can still apply a lot of these principles to the polymer clay I plan to use

When he cut his masterpiece in half at the end 😫 excellent video for real tho!
Thanks for this! Can you share what kind of clay is best for pinching pots that you want to fire, glaze, and use to drinking etc?
For drinking, I like mid range - high fire clay bodies that fire to Cone 5 or hotter. This is a Cone 10 clay body I'm using.
thank you, excellent and comprehensible explained
I LOVE POTTERY And this is my favorite video
Made me sad when he cut it in half instead of firing it.
Excellent video! Thank you!
This is gold! Thank you!!
