Agree with everything said...but as a Sri Lankan I would also like to point out that during the past 70 years most politicians made it a point to bankrupt local productions just so they could import foreign goods with personal comissions. And the Rajapaksa family took it to the next level by doing the same but at such a rate that the country went bankrupt within just a few years since they came to power. Their foreign accounts grew in trillions while the country's economy plummeted. They are nothing more than a bunch of uneducated war criminals who came to power by spreading racism. And the saddest of all is that people still voted them into power.

Actually astrologically this makes sense. Srilanka's republic was born in 1972. 1972_73 is a grey lizzard patch hence countries born in this timeframe will struggle a lot. This happened due to lack of mismanagement of money and because most of these politicians are stealing money for their own benefit this downfall started way back in 90s and their only solution was to take loans from other countries which lead to this situation

Good they privatized it. Giving free means taking money from taxpayers to fund it. We can't sustain it for long. Punjab announced 300unit of power free for all houses even the ones who can pay, is this sensible? Eventually you are making all people lazy. Iam working now , if the government announces food water electricity free do you think I will continue working? If everyone follows the same path where will the money come from. . As for education and medicine it's called subsides education and medicine nt free. When I did my master I too got it, it's cheap education loan at low interest. I had to work and pay off later. Now I work in India and pay tax every year. Please don't make people lazy by saying everything free without any criteria.

Sri Lankan crisis has shown that debt, personal/public debt has the capacity to become ur biggest threat and danger especially if you don't have enough emergency funds and ur existing income streams face problems in an unforeseen event like COVID etc. Also Sri Lankan crisis is a big headache and problem for its creditors as well as I don't think any country will be willing to Write off Sri lanka's debts.
