Absolutely bro. I'm from Odisha & went to Chennai few days back to attend a exam. From MGR central I hired a auto to hotel. That auto driver was speaking only Tamil & forced me to speak the same. I managed somehow then somebody called him & guess what??? he was speaking fluent hindi to the caller. How sick mindset they're having.

These people come up with gareebi card to loot the cars. I've stopped driving to TN only because of unfriendly nature towards tourists. Once we had stopped to ask a local about address, he came up with his friends shouting at us to speak in Tamil, and maybe was abusing too. He almost came to beat us but we left immediately. This was near yelagiri.
Kerala was more friendly towards other state vehicles to be honest.

Not to offend any particular region people,
To be honest Tamilnadu people would always behave bossy on you and try to con you or pressure you even in normal situation as soon as they come to know that you're a non-Tamil in Tamil area.
I've observed this extensively in South Karnataka, Tamilnadu, pondicherry.
I've never come across a sweet, helpful Tamil person especially while driving or travelling.
This is something would never happen in North Hindi speaking states, and especially in Gujarat. Here, village folks would in fact, try to help you and try to understand your language and situation without pressurising you. There can always be exception, but I've never heard a single news where it says Gujarati village folks brutally beats anyone from the South Indian states.
This is my personal experience from my many encounters during traveling across India. (Except east parts like WB to Northeast states where I've never travelled)

Maybe they have an issue with North Indian's 😂. I recently completed a 4000 kms coast to coast ride on an MH passing vehicle. By far the Tamil people were super cooperative and helpful. Kerala unfortunately was a horrible experience. From private busses purposely overtaking and obstructing to educated female devotees in temple pushing like there was no tomorrow.
You would be surprised with the hospitality and nature of North-eastern people. It's an India that differs from all other Indian states. Do pay a visit there .

2. Whenever u get into any accident, just call cops first.
Marathi guy here. I have travelled a lot in southern india across all the states. Over 10 years. I have met only kind and fabulous people all around. These kind of experiences are exceptions and hence they make it to these kind of videos. That doesn't mean entire south is like this. Please don't generalise based on these experiences. Nut cases are everywhere. While it's true identity politics is there in south, it's there everywhere in rest of the India as well (including my own home state). Nothing different down south. It's a beautiful country this side, don't miss it. Do travel, it's quite safe.
This video consistently prevents me from embarking on a road trip to South India.

A big mistake has been made by the car driver. He did not brake immediately and moved the car as if it was going to crash. Tamil Nadu Police should arrest the car driver and conduct serious investigation.

Exactly the same situation when people drive in a remote area in North India and don’t speak Hindi. Whatever people said in the comments applies both ways. The bystanders are the worst. Even that lady approaches not to help but tells to move the car so that her car can move.
Lessons to be learnt:
1. Such scams or problems can happen anywhere. Fix a dashcam. Will be worth it.
2. Learn the local language. You being the more educated ones have to make the effort. I know from my own experience it is not tough and is very worth it.
3. Go to such places only in a group.
4. Hire a local as a guide if needed. Will be worth it.
5. While driving, be in a convoy even if with strangers. For obvious reasons.
6. Do not escalate even if they provoke. Most of us cannot last in a physical fight with such people. We have brains, not brawns. Sweet talk such people to the nearest police station and hire a lawyer.

I also believe that the driver was also fault although not entirely but to some extent, as he did not press the horn before entering the curve where the accident happened. In driving school, I believe that most of us are thought to use a horn before entering a turn and dipper at night. This would inform the person at the other end of the Prescence of an oncoming vehicle.

Same situation happened with me back in 2022 when I was driving my Fortuner 2 idiots came at the wrong side and started arguing with me sadly I didn't had a dashcam so I didn't have a valid proof to show their fault and after all I paid the compensation.

I am from karnataka, and had same experience near coimbatore in TN, These people try to scam if they see the vehicle is from outside the state. Fortunately I am a tamilian too,, the moment they realized that, the scndrls escaped.

Car driver shouldn't have come out of the car when he saw that they both were safe and he was not at fault because in such kind of situation these local people try to either blame you for no reason or they try to take money from car driver and when you are new or a tourist they they won't let you go easily.

We face this problem so much. 80% People don't give a damn about traffic rules and road sense. People put their lives in unnecessary danger while driving or riding on highways. I have seen villagers tripling on bikes without helmets and riding over 100kmph.
The saddest part is be it educated people or be it uneducated masses, everyone feels it is appropriate and nobody tries to be sensible. Nobody cares about other people's lives.

The tourist family, I am feeling sad for this incident happened with you and family(woman and child was also there). That illiterate Tamil guy was not accepting his mistake and arguing unnecessarily with his family. I was in Chennai for 5+ years and In Bangalore since 5 years.... I have already faced this situation in Chennai because I can't talk in Tamil. I felt south Indian illiterate people won't respect Hindi speaking people and they don't even respect Ladies. In our North India we respect ladies so much and in case our fault also we leave this kind of situation to respect women and child. Also this is just assumption that south Indian people are more literate than North Indian..... Kerala 99% in literacy blah blah.... It was a story 40-50 years ago... now situation is changed... All India are equally in literacy and can grab jobs any where in India and outside India. and this is the big reason they are annoying to see north Indian in there state.
