I follow Ben Awad a lot, he is really great at what he does, in my opinion this video was a respectful one and a talk with a good amount of knowledge. I don't know why people are getting into "you are being paid by AWS" thing in the comment section. Developers should increase each other's knowledge. Keep going brother... =)
I had weeks (!) of failing CI builds on AWS Amplify because they use Serverless framework and it was just failing. "Serverless Makes Sense Now" - it is if you're paid by AWS to promote AWS on youtube but have you actually tried to build something for millions of users? Switched from serverless to Kubernetes for numerous reasons and never looked back.
Hey Dan, I'm sorry you've had a poor experience with Serverless Framework and Amplify. There is absolutely a learning curve that can be frustrating to get over. I work with Serverless Framework in production workloads every day along with many companies after the cost savings and modularization. I'm also not paid, the vids are just my thoughts from my experiences.
Awesome vid man, really appreciated that. Is there a mean to know what calls where made from real user's and what where made for mitigating the coldstart problem? The coldStart ones go to a diferente function?
@@dylanalbertazzi btw do you know how to implement the serverless warmup plugin in a nextjs-serverless project? The structure seems a tad bit different
Much appreciated. Yes, I work for Effectual, a cloud consultancy which does A LOT of AWS work. However, the opinions and thoughts on this channel are my own.
So basically your solution to the pain points is based upon tools provided by the Serverless Framework, which is provider agnostic and not AWS exclusive. But you only mention AWS for some reason. It would only be fair to mention that this solution solves configuration and cold starts for ALL providers: GCP, Azure and others.
Very true, Serverless provides solutions for all providers. The reasons I stuck to just AWS is because, Lambda is leaps and bounds ahead of Cloud Functions and Azure Functions. As well as most of my expertise is in AWS. Thanks for filling that gap for anyone!

Thank You! It's a very helpful video.
You're welcome!
The key to coldstart is sub 500ms coldstart
Very good video! Keep it up!
That means more than you know. I will!

You could add a parameter in the event body that says wether it's an actual invocation and console.log that info so you can see it in cloudwatch.
10 minutes, idk man, that's too much of my precious precious time, what will you give me so i can watch your video ?
Haha, never got this before! The knowledge you gain is the payment for your time :)
Nice edit
Thanks

Off the top of my head, no. I haven't done much with Nextjs
I agree but I have a quick advice: use a bigger font in VSCode while recording
Bonjour M Awad. Comment allez vous?
It appears you work for amazon somehow. That would be nice to disclose. Still, not bad videos.

I don’t think anyone using Serverless and talking about it as much as he does would be working for Amazon/AWS. They’d probably make him use their SAM
Can't watch your videos on my phone
thanks for the feedback, I'll make it a point to zoom in in the future🙂
