- A new Western platform has entered the war in Ukraine.
Swedish-manufactured CV-90 fighting vehicles from Ukraine have reached the front lines, reportedly in the vicinity of Bakhmut within the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine.
Viewers may note that in January, Sweden pledged 50 CV-90s to Ukraine.
The CV-90 is the third tracked fighting vehicle Ukraine has received from its foreign allies, the country is getting more than 150 M-2s from the United States as well as 60 Marders from Germany.
In this video Defense Updates, how Swedish CV-90 fighting vehicles could help Ukraine?

The reason delivery took a bit longer was that all Swedish vehicles were used to train the Ukrainian troops not only in their use but also in combined arms battlegroups. So they delivered a battlegroup not a vehicle and that is why they went straight from Sweden to the frontline.
Good info. Thank you!

Sweden can't even defend its own borders against Islamists and illegals but thinks it can control Ukraine's borders from Sweden, hilarious.
Yes Sweden is a horrible country these days so we need all the help we can get.
That is true. But helping Ukraine is a good thing. But i do not think only 50 of those make so mutch differense in the war ewen if ewerything we can send is better then nothing of course.

The entire Swedish inventory is ideal for Ukraine, they make clever pragmatic designs.
If Ukraine had gone on a buying spree in 2014 (they didn't have the budget though) they would have been well served.
Imagine if they'd gotten the Gripen in time......
I would love to see the Gripen in Ukraine.

They are also a threat to newer MBTs from side and behind. The armourpiercing ammo is lethal. I hope it gives the need Ukraine have against those we dont speak of.
Bieber and Dolik will not like their introduction to CV-90
Lets just put this out there. The CV90, especially the later models are far more dangerous than the Lynx, Puma, Bradley or K21 fighting vehicles. They are more modern, the cannon is much larger (40mm) the types of ammunition 3p programmable ammunition is deadly as hell. It can air-burst at set ranges, it would annihilate every single Russian in ANY trench with ease from kilometers away.
The weight of this IFV is almost as much as the Russian MBT (main battle tanks). Close to 40 Ton.
The CV9040 is a highly aggressive vehicle, designed to control the initiative by staying mobile instead of slowing things down to a walk. Aggressive maneuvering is what the CV9040 is designed to do, outmaneuving vehicles and killing them in the flank and charging enemy positions to drop off soldiers right ontop of the enemy.
These tactics have been part of the Swedish doctrine since the late fifties as seen in vehicles like the PBV301 and PBV302. And it was directly copied from the German playbook of WW2, where the German panzergrenadiers/dismounts fought more often than not from their halftracks, allowing them to keep pace with the tanks and also maintain initiative through aggressive maneuvering.
A Bradley, Puma, K21 and so on is not designed for that type of combat. It's essentially an APC that drops off troops 100m from the fight. The CV9040 drops off troops within 0-50m from the enemy position, or simply drives up to it and let's the troops fight mounted.
In Afghanistan it was apparently tremendously deadly. The Danish or Norwegians were caught in some kind of fight/ambush and they annihilated the enemy.
P.S
1073 BHP in the high end version that is amphibic and extremely mobile in mudd and snow.

Man....the first CV90 was lost to a russian soldier with a RPG-7!!!!!!.....a fucking RPG....
Remember these CV 90 from when they where new - the first prototypes..... Very impressive - went faster in deep snow then we did on the road with Bv 206 .... Or actually Bv2063 - Tow system ...
Just ensure it’s deployed and operated as intended not against heavy armour and protected from arial attack such as drones and helicopters
Don’t worry, they’ll be quickly destroyed by Russian aircraft or mines. Get a good look because they won’t be around for long!
That's one the first things I said with the Bradley's they may can kill a tank if put in that situation, but you do not need to deliberately put it there. Use it as it's meant to be used and not to go head to head with a tank
lets hope they come delivered with the 40/48B KULSGR 95, air burst ammo for aerial targets then :) nom nom, drones for breakfast...
@@Sheley7 The reality is different from the manufacturer's advertising. Yesterday, a CV-90 was destroyed in Ukraine for the first time. The drone watched the car without any problems, after which a Russian guided projectile Krasnopol flew into the parking lot.

They are good but what Ukraine really needs is SHORAD for protection against gunships and drones
The West needs to send the Humvee with the rails for AIM-9s and AIM-120s
The German Gepard already serves in Ukraine in that role. It's highly cost-effective as well, much more so than missile-equipped Humvees.
@@peabase
The Gepard cant stop KA-52s from attacking
The Gepard guns max out 2.5 miles while the KA-52 can attack from 8 miles
Humvees with AIM-9 can attack up to 20 miles away
@@verdebusterAP You're talking about maximum ranges as if they're typical engagement distances. The Gepard is not going to expose itself to a prowling Ka-52. Likewise, the Ka-52 will hug the ground, meaning that engagement distances will likely be within the Gepard's range. MANPADS complement the Gepard much better than AA missiles modified for surface-to-air work.
@@peabase
Thats why AIM-9s and AIM-120 better options than MANPADS
Even if the KA-52 is hugging the terrain, their seekers have better discrimination of targets than MANPADS
Secondly the can attack the KA-52 long before it gets in range
@@verdebusterAP Better discrimination of targets? I'd like to see a veritable source for that.

@6XCcustom
USA had guaranteed ukraines territorial integrity... Sweden had not... USA should have sent 1000 stock cavalry Bradley from reserve pool at least a year ago...
@@janwitts2688 the usa has done a lot for ukraine but most agree that the CV90 is far superior to the bradley fighting vehicle
Sweden's climate is similar to Ukraine's
but you are absolutely right in the Budapest Memorandum 1994 the US forced Ukraine to hand over its nuclear weapons to Russia and guaranteed Ukraine's sovereignty but the US did not keep the agreement
the usa should have invaded in 2014 and given ukraine weapons so they could defend themselves
Bill Clinton said that the worst mistake he ever made was creating the Budapest Memorandum
the usa and the west send too little and too late
now we demand that ukraine implement the combined arms strategy
but it is russia that has air supremacy so where are the fighter jets that ukraine has been asking for for well over a year
without these, we can send 1000 leopard tanks without this helping the Ukraine
A high military is an idiot without fighter jets no combined arms strategy
Protecting Sweden... Well the Sweden that was worth protecting is almost gone by now.
