  • At the time of filming Tiger held all 4 of golf's Major Championships, earlier in the month completing the Tiger Slam with his second Masters win. Tiger Woods and Butch Harmon full driving range presentation from Tiger Jam IV.
    Tiger and Butch playfully discuss Tigers game and shot techniques in front of a group of around 100 guests and celebrities, including Kevin Sorbo and Kid Rock. Tiger also hits some trick-shots with his wedge and driver. Filmed on April 28th 2001, in Henderson Nevada, at Dragon Ridge Country Club.
    After reaching 1000 subscribers, I’ll release the 2000 range session, which is even better IMO. Thanks to those who tap that button.

      @@SirTylerGolf My point still stands. Tiger had a fitness/coaching team around him & a slept on a personal jet to St. Andrews, before bedding someone.
      Bobby spent a week eating steak, getting drunk and bedding everyone on a ship, just to GET to The Open. To get back and win more in the US, while building Augusta, not easy at all..
      Don't knock the old timers. I've played a course in the States, where Sam Snead set the CR in the 40's, using hickory shafts, crap balls and a hammer strapped to a stick for a putter. You would think that ONE decent club pro, with modern equipment, a GPS watch and carry distance data from the SIM could beat that score?
      They haven't.😉

    • @kevinrochelle6353
      @kevinrochelle6353 2 роки тому +17

      @@ibrahimrashid8092 Eh Rory's swing is perfect for driver, but his iron play is nowhere near Tigers or Stensons, etc. Moe...was a mutant. Most people could not even make contact from how he set up and swung back. Kyle Berkshire is a pro long driver, a very strong athletic guy, who is just swinging as hard as he can with a near 100% weight shift, and accuracy not a consideration. You can watch his videos and he struggles to hit greens like a 15 handicapper (like pretty much every pro long driver I have ever seen play actual golf). Too much speed I guess, tiniest mishits go sideways.
      This swing (Tiger's Butch swing) in my opinion is probably the most powerful, versatile swing you will ever see on tour. Top 5 power, and can hit the ball in any fashion - high/low/draw/fade/nuke/knockdown. Nicklaus and Weiskopf had the power, but not the versatility (Jack hit a super high fade every shot, Tom a super high draw). Hogan had the versatility but not the power. Although, it must be said - the BEST ballstrikers (statistically) generally only play one shot, and one shot only (Trevino, Durant, Couples, Lietzke, etc). More consistent, but harder to get close to pins and make birdies....
      It is a true tragedy that his left knee got to the point where he simply could not do this swing anymore. There is a substantial amount of right-side loading, so to get back to the left he really had to snap his leg (Rory does this currently). That plus him getting about 50 pounds over the weight his bones were designed for (all muscle, but it doesnt matter) and that left knee just got worse and worse. Haney details in his book how his whole job was to figure out how to get Tiger to swing well WITHOUT snapping that left knee - and he did a pretty good job by flattening the swing and reducing the lateral movement, while weakening the grip so Tiger wouldnt hook it off the world with the flatter swing. People are always saying he should have stayed with the swing that won the Slam, and you better believe he would have if he could have. But that knee was done by 2008, he could barely walk at Torrey Pines when he won that one. He had to adapt to his body breaking down, no choice in the matter. I remember him saying in an interview that his knee was bothering him before his second US amateur win - it just got worse when he got so big and heavy, got past where he could deal with it.
      But this swing here is pure gold, when his knee was still solid. Butch did what he always does with guys who come to him with a 2 - way miss like young Tiger had ( club crossing line at top pretty severely, leading to hook or big block right). He made Tiger take it outside pretty significantly compared to his natural swing, so even with his massive turn he doesnt cross the line at top (much). Worked for Norman, Tiger, Adam Scott, and Rickie Fowler - you can see Fowler practice the takeaway before every swing in fact.

    Really good golf lesson - People might just see this as him hitting shots but it's probably one of the best instruction videos out there. (No verbal instruction to talk about.) Just the video of the technique perfectly executed for the purpose of a golf lesson.
    To me, the slow shots give people the chance to see how he shifts his weight, moves his hip, keeps his balance, and controls the shot with his body... You can see the stance and so on (everything really.) This is followed by him doing more of an arm swing (in the followthrough - faster swings/Longer shots. ) Add to that some verbal instructions that he sneaks in when he explains some of his shots - Explaining how to manipulate the ball flight. To me that makes this video the perfect basic toolkit from A to Z for any level of golfer.
    A hidden gem in my humble opinion. 😊👍🏌

    To really know how good Tiger was, if todays top players played in the 2000 US Open with modern tech they would struggle to break par playing at their absolute best. Tiger finished at -12 no chance under those conditions for that week could Koepka, Sheffler, Rahm nobody from todays game could even approach that score

    • @markconroy5844
      @markconroy5844 Рік тому

      Today's players would s*it their pants at a set up like that, then b*tch and moan all week. The resort style set ups today are really a shame.

    Anyone who says this guy isn't the goat is living in a different world. Idc what he's done personally. No one has reached this level and I don't think anyone will for decades. You would have to breed a child who has golf in his DNA from 4 generations of golfers to achieve tigers skill. This is the product of someone whose loved the game since birth basically. You don't get that good without loving it and doing it everyday of your life from the age you can walk.

    • @annagraham6204
      @annagraham6204 2 роки тому +3

      The best to do it. This is obviously more than a child’s “love” for a game. He was PROGRAMMED since birth. A high level military project. A 3yr old isn’t featured on national TV because he loves golf and is a real hard try’er. Free rounds, buckets and lessons at nearby Navy course. There was never any discrimination as Earl claimed either. That was part of the story to keep the masses divided. Everything was taken care of in advance. As Earl would often state “it’s all part of the plan”.
