  • For Jonathan’s fourth instalment of Facetime Portraits he welcomes the British chef, restaurateur, broadcaster, author and campaigner, Jamie Oliver.
Jamie and Jonathan sit down for their fourth sitting on one of the hottest days of the year. The portrait is beginning to come together as they discuss the unique challenges of painting friends and family, the tricks of creating multiple expressions within a portrait, how the varying connection of Facetime can affect the style of a painting, and whether the lockdown has been good for the creative brain.
Jonathan also discusses his experience with lymphoma as a young man and how adversity can create the best work while convenience can be a barrier to creativity.
Finally, Jamie educates Jonathan on the complexities of how seriously political trade deals can affect both producers and consumers in the food industry as well as wider issues such as child health and the environment.

This is so great. Love it. I've always looked up to Jamie Oliver. He is a powerhouse of a person w/ so much knowledge and always fighting for the good of the people. Love his PBS show, and I own a few of his cookbooks too :). Way to go, Jonathan & Jamie!!

In that kind of situations or environment mostly people tend to open more and say more stuff what they feels in real and not because it sounds better or tend to bring more fake happiness around them.
Basically in these 15min. we see and hear more of Jamie then in many hour interviews despite that he in my opinion is one of the honest celebrity when talk on camera with us.
Great videos, great way to express your work Jonathan and thank you for this.

I just discovered this video. Great video - both entertaining and informative. Good work on the portrait! Portraiture is the hardest painting to do. Well done, Jonathan!
