What’s a way to help prevent them from escaping the tank? And are these guys safe for fish eggs and fry? I have free swimming fry but plan to breed the parents more in the future. Are these guys safe for that’s whole process?? I need some little helpers since I have so many water changes. I need some help making it look nice with some of the extra pieces of food. Whatcha think?
Unless the top isnot covered, they will possibly escape. Even providing them enough food inside the aquarium wont stop them from escaping , if its an open aquarium. Not to my knowledge that they eat fish eggs. However, they don't harm any fish or fry. They do eat leftover food and algae. But you can't depend completely on them to clean your aquarium. Our job of cleaning and water changing is still a must 🙂
@@knmhs oh for sure! I know the water changes and us cleaning are a must but I just wanted some little guys that will be able to happily feed off the algae and thrive in the good water. I would love to keep the happy! I just don’t want them hurting my babies. I’m pretty new to breeding these guys so I’m pretty careful with what I do. I just figured if there’s extra food for an extra tummy that I can keep happy, I will! Thank you for replying and thank you for the information/knowledge! I take notes of every step!
Believe me i have shrimps, cat fish and snails of multiple varieties in different fish tanks but i still got to clean them after a couple of days. I have wonderful levels and healthy bacteria. I’m struggling with one tank currently 😨 but the Nerites move, SO slow. Do they tend to be more active at night? Or is there just so much stuff to eat in my 30 gallon that they’re sleeping a lot? Lol I wanted to get some ram snails to add with them because I’ve heard good things, and I’ve got plenty of space for a few more. Just really heasitant because of my babies! I LOVE these fish and would feel TERRIBLE if I disturbed ANYTHING for them. It was a beautiful community tank and I got these hmguys one day, started with 6 and now I have to have close to 86 🥰 Love to see them happy! I would love to know what you think about adding the ramshorns and how can I tell if these new Nerites are happy?
Yes nerites have extremely slow movements and that is constant 24 hrs. In my tank, at time they remain still at the same position for the whole day ! Just imagine. Lol. Thats how they go in hibernation. So u cannot possibly know about their happiness. If they are alive and roaming around in the tank then all is good. Apart from that yeah do try keeping the new ones in your tank. Snails generally donot bother any fish. Its just their over population which can cause you trouble.

In order to keep them in the tank for a longer period, there should be enough or plenty of food for them to eat throughout the day. Like Fish waste, debris, plants in the tanks Second try getting a net for your tank. Kind of a full sheet of net to put over your tank. Thats Available in stores
Caution, Only the Olive Nerite Snail is a freshwater snail. The other nerite varieties are saltwater snails that will live for a short time in your freshwater tank.
