Not only that, but I think "Rosemary's Baby" may have been the first American feature film in which people speak directly about abortion and even use the word "abortion", no innuendos or implications, but straight talk. Notice how Laura-Louise sits right on Rosemary's book? That tells you so much; even when near-strangers barge into her home, unasked, Rosemary won't say boo even if they sit right on what she was trying to read.
Rosemary brought this on herself by letting an old woman into her apartment in the first place. Stay away from your neighbors. Who knows who they are or where they are from. Roman Polanski making his first big American movie was like a greedy kid in a candy store getting Ralph Bellamy, Patsy Kelly, Sidney Blackmer, Maurice Evans, Elisha Cook Jr. , and even Hope Summers Aunt Bee's friend, as a WITCH. Disgraceful the way the push rosemary off her sofa & Louise sits all over her new furniture & they gave it away when they said they met guy , so Guy is well in with them & before I forgot the Devil root Terry died wearing , there so pushy
I finally just noticed that when Rosemary walks over to turn off the record player at 1:09, framed on the wall are posters for the two plays that she repeatedly tells people her husband Guy has been in: "Luther" and "Nobody Loves An Albatross". "And lots of television and radio."
It turns out that both "Luther" and "Nobody Loves An Albatross" were actual Broadway plays in real life, but it would've been very difficult for Guy Woodhouse to have been in both of them because they ran at the same time: "Luther" from Sept. 1963 to March 1964, and "Albatross" from Dec. 1963 to June 1964.

@shawntipton5078 I wish the character Laura Louise had more of a part in the film, she is even more friendly in a sinister way than Minnie, and from the start the audience can or should be able to tell that both Laura and Minnie are acting, it's false. This speaks to the idea that the character is extremely jealous and immature. These two woman helped make the film. It is implied the cult kills babies and eats the flesh etc, I like to think that this is Laura's bargain, why she joined the cult, she is a sinister murderer or child murderer who relishes in the idea of murdering people or children, that is what I get from the character. We don't really know why or how Minnie met Roman or joined the cult/group but it is likely she made a deal or that her family are very old members of the group/cult like Roman's family and Minnie was born into it.
Trailers are so Disney, just to boost a lousy movie! This movie stands on its own . Wonderful atmosphere - takes one into very "special" New York. Unlike any other typical "New York" movie, usually a shoot-'em-up! So "gauche"! /Even if we don't get to witness NOBODY LOVES AN ALBATROSS... we do get to see Guy in the Honda commercial, though .....that's "where the thrills are"....
What gets lost in all this story of building evil and mystery is how fixated and envious Minnie (Ruth Gordon) is of Rosemary’s apartment (the wall colours, pillows, furniture, etc). So many women will betray themselves as a person to have finer things in their life and here is Minnie from early on (before we know who her husband is) playing the part of the envious woman who puts up with her husband and breaks his chops (for spilling a drink on the carpet and so on) or to sell out a young woman all for her own lifestyle. It’s so subtly done in the movie but highly effective.
Ive never seen a film like this a bunch of old men and women devil worshippers and deep down they are all absolutely insane very weird and absolutely terrifying.

Egads and yikes. Halls, walls, doors and floors... miss apartment and condo living. Too close. Kidding. Suburbia and 'inner'-city same w/ postage stamp lots. Brilliant production Roman.
Great song, isn't it? I think it comes from Christopher Komeda, who composed all music for the movie....a Polish friend of Polanski, who died soon after film was made .
This same song is played at the beginning of the scene when Guy and Rosemary are starting their romantic dinner before they try to "make a baby". Minnie interrupts by bringing over the chocolate mousse dessert which is drugged with a black magic potion to knock her out.
Dan, not "Dane". It's never explained but you assume he was her husband, but now he's dead. This emphasizes that all the female members of this cult are too old to be able to get pregnant, so they have to ensnare a young woman for this purpose. They tried with Terri but Roman told her in advance what they were going to do, so she killed herself. That taught them a lesson, so this time they'll keep everything secret from Rosemary.

I wish the character Laura Louise had more of a part in the film, she is even more friendly in a sinister way than Minnie, and from the start the audience can or should be able to tell that both Laura and Minnie are acting, it's false.
SHE SAT ON THE BOOK
“…the banality of evil.”
Mia Farrow gave such a great performance in this film i.felt so sorry for her.
i bought the blu ray, and was wondering why wasn't any trailers were included?
Trailers are so Disney, just to boost a lousy movie! This movie stands on its own . Wonderful atmosphere - takes one into very "special" New York. Unlike any other typical "New York" movie, usually a shoot-'em-up! So "gauche"!
/Even if we don't get to witness NOBODY LOVES AN ALBATROSS... we do get to see Guy in the Honda commercial, though .....that's "where the thrills are"....
This is my 3rd favorite movie of all time
My favorite horror movie
And the best movie ever made, I think
So perfectly evil.
😌🤍I find this whole movie to be very satisfying and full of ASMR moments.😌🤍 esp part 1:20-1:25
Intrusive how Minnie and her friend, Laura-Louis showed up like that! Ugh how annoying!
Am sure PK is the model for MAX on 2 BROKE GIRLS
I always loved Ruth Gordon in this movie.... she's evil but downright funny!
So hard to watch. Damn…
Why is that?
Because… you haven't seen the movie?...
Wish I knew what jazz album was on the old turntable…?
Ive never seen a film like this a bunch of old men and women devil worshippers and deep down they are all absolutely insane very weird and absolutely terrifying.
What's the name of the song at beginning of this clip?
Yeah that is you
The Aunties
Does anyone know the record she's playing??
I assume this was a song recorded specifically for this movie. That's how it was done in those days. They weren't yet re-using existing commercial recordings.
…All of them witches…. Meaning all of them in Hollywood.
Sims music
Egads and yikes. Halls, walls, doors and floors... miss apartment and condo living. Too close. Kidding. Suburbia and 'inner'-city same w/ postage stamp lots. Brilliant production Roman.
Does anyone know what song is playing before she turned it off??
Great song, isn't it? I think it comes from Christopher Komeda, who composed all music for the movie....a Polish friend of Polanski, who died soon after film was made .
This same song is played at the beginning of the scene when Guy and Rosemary are starting their romantic dinner before they try to "make a baby". Minnie interrupts by bringing over the chocolate mousse dessert which is drugged with a black magic potion to knock her out.
Was Dane her husband?
Dan, not "Dane". It's never explained but you assume he was her husband, but now he's dead. This emphasizes that all the female members of this cult are too old to be able to get pregnant, so they have to ensnare a young woman for this purpose. They tried with Terri but Roman told her in advance what they were going to do, so she killed herself. That taught them a lesson, so this time they'll keep everything secret from Rosemary.
