I went to Lowes & HD yesterday. Slim pickings at both but did find a full basket of Krimson Queen that I snagged. First time I'd seen it. Snagged a princess 2 summers ago.
🤗❤️💚🌾🌱🌿🪴The tan on tan, white on tan, and the grey pots would blend in well with most decor. Painted ladies were looking salvageable. Nice large monstera, marble queen, heart leaf brazil, and silver sword. Pretty lemon lime philodendron and full maranta. 🐄🐮🤠👢
Lowes Kingston NY has the painted ladies. Too big for my space, but very pretty! They have the house on the trellis there too. I gave them a miss...but I did get a sip er band maranta in target for $12. It's kind of gorgeous.
🐄🐄🐄🐄 The splotchy hanging planters are okay but not my first pick. I'm more into plain and simple pots. The adansonii were lush and full! Thanks for the shopping tour!
The Calathea Medallion at Lowes was really pretty, but I would have to read up on it before considering if it would work for me. I'd like to see the Silver Sword in person. I probably would have bought the Neon Pothos at Lowes itme stamp about 6:35. I have been looking for a really nice one and that one was beautiful at first glance. I am also keeping an eye out for Pothos NJoy, though I have one growing now. I am seeing much more variety, etc. at Lowes for plants. Home Depot has a much smaller supply-maybe only 2 racks. Almost not worth going there anymore. As the springtime approaches, Walmart will have some nice plants too. Is there a Walmart in your area that you could look at plants at and share with us too? A friend of mine found some beautiful White Knights there last year for $19.99. I will try the bigger stores further in the city-about 20 miles in the spring to see what they have. What does happen to all the nice little pots and plants that do not sell? I have seen some empty used pots for sale at Lowes. and I know Lowes puts some plants on clearance discounts-should be discounted further in many cases I think, I don't know what Home Depot does. Others have recommended to ask for discounts at Home Depot. Lots of us would like a cheap used pot to add to our collections too rather than them being thrown out. Thanks for your shopping videos, they have really helped me learn the names of the plants. . 🙂🪴🪴🪴 I'd like to see more about how to display and hang plants.
Speaking of the ginger family, or the “order” Zingiberales, specifically, did you know the ginger group also includes the family Marantaceae? So all prayer plants, calatheas, ctenanthe, stromanthe, etc. I was thinking about it, and it does actually make sense since Calathea flowers resemble ginger blooms a little bit. And also if you’ve ever transplanted any Calathea, they have a “rhizomatous” root, kinda similar to ginger. Even marantas have a “rhizome” like root structure, if not more like little bulbs. Even crazier was when I looked it up on Wiki. Because I’m a plant nerd. Lol. And I was blown away by just how many plants are technically cousins with gingers-besides Marantaceae, Strelitzia (birds of paradise), bananas, heliconias, arrowroot, Curcuma (turmeric), cardamom, and canna. The canna ‘lily’ seems the most obviously related to ginger if you’ve ever looked at the rhizome…
After the last big box store shopping video, I’m definitely stalking my local Lowe’s for cumingiana on a trellis.😅 I already see resellers with it for $35+.😩
I live in Tempe, AZ and found 5 healthy Hoya Macrophylla Variegatas at my local Home Depot last week. I also found Cebu Blue at Lowe's and Philodendron Black Cardinal at my local Kroger (Fry's). All of them were $15 for a 6 inch pot if anyone's been looking.
🐄🐄🐄 love me some painted lady 😉 Here's hoping to more and more new plants that surprises us and catch us off guard, may we find the gems among the junk, lol
I keep my painted lady under grow lights to try to keep the variegation/mottling, but it seems to be washing them out. How do you keep yours looking good?
🐮Went to 2 Home Depot locations last night and they the absolute worst I’ve ever seen. I did however buy a ficus bonsai for Rune’s inclosure, curious to see how that looks out. 🦎🪴
🐄 I don’t remember if you ever mentioned this but we’re you working somewhere else before you started this UA-cam channel? And have you been able to quit working and support yourself doing this channel as your full time job? I think that would be great and always support people jumping out on their own
The no name plant is Alpinia luteocarpa 'Red Rubin' . Bamboo ginger..it clumps up very quickly..and constantly outgrows it's pot. It's pretty tho 😊

Awesome! I love painted lady. I was so so excited to find an atabapoense at Home Depot the other day! ❤😊😊😊
🐄 I really like the pots with the feet on them that are two toned, brown and black. I think they’re cute.
I wish they had big plant places here in England we only have small garden centres with limited amount of house plant in. Your very lucky.❤
I am snowed in, but I want to go check out what we have in the big box stores! 🐄

Omg, I'm from the tropics and I got most of these for $4-$7 or less. Super easy to take care of. I could leave for a month and they're still prolific.
Those pots are really cute from urban jungle and live trends. If I didn’t already have a painted lady I would’ve gotten one. 🐮🐮🐄🐄🐮🐄🐮🐮

I agree! Pretty, but not for me 😊
🐮🐮🐮 I can’t find those nicely colored aglaonema papaya that you always find! I’m jealous!

Hey thanks for the info! I’m getting into the science of plants now too since Jaclynn has helped me with plant names over the years!
After the last big box store shopping video, I’m definitely stalking my local Lowe’s for cumingiana on a trellis.😅 I already see resellers with it for $35+.😩
That's kinda sad tbh. Just leave them in the store for people to buy at regular price 🤦🏻♀️

There's been some good gems lately!! Hopefully we keep finding more!! ☺️
MOOOOO 🐄

Mine are also under grow lights. I use Barrina T5! Maybe try moving it further from the light?
Many of the planter were nice 😀🇨🇦🐮
One thing I noticed was pots that once had a plant in it that died were put in with the regular priced pots😕😕
I'm waiting for proven winners to spit out their marble black cardinal -new this year. Its a brown philo I think you'll like it too.
Love panted llady❤❤❤!!!-
Me toooo!
🐮🐮🐮 I love any kind of philodendron. Iam so greedy I probably would have bought them up and made one big boy lol.
I thought that basket of adsonii looked really nice. Ive went to 2 different HD recently and neither had the tropical event table🙁 FL is struggling
That's a bummer! They have a few decent ones on those tables, usually at least
