My father is 95 and still comes to our office at least 2 times a week. He just semi retired 3 weeks ago. He's a gem like the gentleman in this video. Precious spirit.
what an annoying old git
I grew up around the corner from here in the 90s/2000s. Thank you for making this; I can finally share this unique experience with others.
Yes!
This is what society needs to go back to. This is the mindset that helped to build this country.
Read about the history of this country and how they treated the southern Italian immigrants. Yes, immigrants made this country great. But every single wave of mass immigration was treated pretty much the same, with contempt and bigotry. Don’t believe the conn, don’t fall for hate and division.
Respects from Canada for this great man, and for sharing his amazing story
There are so many reasons why people like this wonderful man are said to be from the greatest generation. Simple fact is….they are.
Glad someone finally made this video. I've been a loyal customer of Roma's since 2007 when I worked at La Cañada Camera (2007-2013) and just the other day I was thinking of driving down to take some photos and make blog post of it. When I lived in East L.A. I made the effort to stop by at least once every other month, now that I live an hour and half away, I haven't been in three years at least.
I came to Pasadena on a business trip once and this is the only thing I ate. I'd buy 2 every day. Coffee in the morning, 1 sandwich for lunch, 1 for dinner. One of the best weeks I can remember.
Im here at least once a week. Don Rosario is a treasure ❤
So much to learn from this grandpa...❤
I don't remember the date on this but the older man Federico has worked with Ross since he was 15 died suddenly yesterday. ( He was the one that said the market was like a wife to Ross). They closed the store yesterday.. Ross and him were like family. He was a big part of the Roma Family. RIP Federico.
🙏🏼 May Federico RIP.
Yes, October 29th 2023 of a massive heart attack. RIP.
That's very sad > may his soul rest in heaven :(
I really liked this documentary ❤. Federico Gutierrez was the heart of the business and I said to myself that he’s going to inherit this business due to his commitment to his job.
Federico passed away due to cardiac arrest.
I saw the family made him a Gofundme. The owner didn’t offer any benefits or retirement for Federico. The family struggled I’m sure to lay their family to rest. Loyal to a business until he died. He even considered the owner like his dad 😢. Dad could’ve done more for Federico.
@@dfelixrx7 My family took care of Federico. My mom assisted him in getting the help he needed for his heart ❤️ when he was much younger. I pretty much grew up with him in that store. Ross has worked at our store since he was 17! He was my dads cousin. He came from Sicily. It was my grandfather’s shopping center.
We all loved Federico and Ross helped his family a lot over many, many years. RIP Federico
How is it possible I lived just 1 city over for 20 years and never knew about this place? I am just kicking myself.
I love this store and the sandwiches. I always felt good going to this store because of him. So respectful.
Mi Familia, My dad and Ross were cousins, My grandfather Peter Impala started this store. When I watched this, I had tears In my eyes.... Thank you Ross, for all you have done, We love you, Thank you Federico for looking after him. Love the Sandwich story never knew how it all came about.
Was your father Joe Impalà? My great grandmother was Angelina Mazzeo, her sister was married to your grandfather Peter Impalà, and her brother was Nicola Mazzeo the father of Rosario Mazzeo. My grandfather was Dominic Mavilia Puglisi my grandmother was Frances Oliveri. Mazzeo came from Faro Superiore Messina Sicilia and Impalà came from Massa Santa Lucia Messina Sicilia.
@@salvatorelucania1369 yes! So good to know. Have you been to Sicily to meet the rest in Faro Superiore?
Your grandfather Peter and your father Joe knew my grandparents Dominic and Frances very well. I have some pictures of your grandfather Peter and your father Joe with your grandmother
@@salvatorelucania1369 i would love to see those pictures. I miss my dad a lot. They are both gone now.
@@salvatorelucania1369 Nicola Mazzeo and my Zia was the only name i used with her, i helped when she passed. Same house on mentor.
I would love to go there
It looks wholesome for 7 minutes. However amount of work and sweat that went into making this place the way it is - probably nothing anyone could do again.
Such a wonderful and welcoming place. Their sandwiches are amazing!!
Great video. Brings back lots of memories. We lived 2 blocks away. I will always remember the way the store had that "Italian" smell. Cheese, meats, etc. Ah, now I'm hungry.
Dude’s a legend. I’ve bought sandwiches from him many times!
What a wonderful video! Thanks so much for honoring Ross in this way. We lived in Pasadena for 40 years and he was always there! Great memories.
So glad he is still alive! Used to go there every week.
This is so wonderful! I am embarrassed to say I have lived close by for 30 years and never visited the Market! Now I will.
We grew up in Pasadena / Altadena in the 60s and Roma’s/Rosario was our “staple” for his sandwich and their pizza! Wonderful food and tradition when we visit the area. ❤❤
Great little film - will share it far and wide! Love this store and Signore Rosario. Decades ago when large supermarket workers in Pasadena went on strike we decided to shop in small family stores like his Roma Deli - and never looked back. Not just the sandwiches, but all his food is AMAZING, and Rosario as well as his cashiers and helpers are warm and helpful. Thank you for the film!!!
Thanks for sharing this video! I have lived in Pasadena/Altadena since 1980. I have driven by the place when I drove on Lake, but never stopped in. Heard good thing before. This video sold me! I need to taste the fresh ingredients made into a sandwich. Now comes the hard part. Should I share this on my feed for others to see or do I keep this information to myself. Lol, chances are that every on my friends list knows about this and I am the one bringing up the rear.
Aww, a great man he is! I hope I can taste his sandwich in the future. Thanks for this video.
Grew up a couple streets away, he’s like a distant uncle to me lol. Great man, great store, great sandwiches!
WOW!!! Listen carefully, he is a very wise man!!! Keep life simple!!!
👏 BRAVO. That was a well made video. Thanks for creating. 💓
Awww memories of my youth. The bread is so yummy.. I am going to visit you Ross
I ve lived in Pasadena for the past 9 yrs and last year my girlfriend N I decided to try some small spots around the house , then we came across this place and have been coming here at least once a week for Rosario's sandwiches. It's a must stop if you're in Pasadena . Cheers!
Thank you for making this!
Fantastic story & this world will never be like ours was!!!!!!!!
This is a very well made short doc. Rosario is treasure. Nice to see him recognized.
Great video! We used to live around the corner from Roma market. Miss this place
I couldn't love this anymore. I have never been to Roma. But I will go this week.
I love visiting this store, feels special the moment you walk in. Always great to pick up new treats to try at home.
Love him!! ❤️
Love the Sandwich!❤
Such a beautiful story, now I have to visit the place!
Great work Jake and friends!
Spectacular
Well-made video and it's getting a lot of traction on the algorithm! Hopefully more people see it
I remember he used to slice the meat and make the sandwiches to order, but they became so popular he pre-makes them now. Very simple sandwich, but it's really good.
Amazing man and what a great shop
Roma, Rosario and the whole staff are great! Well done with the documentary!
Many places like that in old New York, the Italian deli, the Jewish delicatessen, Puerto Rican Bodegas, those were the days.
Awesome!
Nice work!
I have been in there a few times... I'll pick up two similar items and from the back of the store I hear "Don't get that one- get the other one- it's better". Love going in there
😥 Beautiful.
Incredible story & man! Thank you for making this. I’m going to eat there next
Great job! Me ha encantado este documental. Felicitaciones Jake, por tu dedicación y bello trabajo.
Absolutely love it! Great job! ❤
What an amazing man! A man who loves his work is proud of it and does not care what others say.
❤❤❤❤how it used to be growing up in Northern California
Love Roma Market! We pickup sandwiches all the time! 😋❤
God Bless Mr Mazzeo

This man is amazing ! A honest, hard working guy.
Well done, thanks for this film. I’ll stop by whenever I’m down there.
These are the best kind of stores in the USA. They are disappearing at an alarming rate over the last 15 years. What a shame. His sans look so dang good.
This is a beautiful story 👏🏾.What a great Man
I see elements of my family in this story. It made me feel better, bravo. Thank you.
What a champ !!

WATCHING FROM NEW ZEALAND
Good Luck
Very lucky man indeed
Insane staying power
what type of bread recommend for this sandwich?
A true sicilian.
If I could give it 100 likes I would.
OLD AMERICA THE BEST PEOPLE WHAT A LOST BRING THAT BACK THIS IS THE WAY AMERICA WAS MEANT TO BE
still there in pasadena ca..$5 dollar sandwich
Same price as ten years ago . I guess the old man never heard of inflation. He used to make the sandwiches for me to order. The bread and quality of the meats are the secret that makes the sandwich so good. They are so good, I've never seen anybody order anything else. You can buy the rolls if you want to make the sandwich at home.
Jesus has gave you many blessings , 😊
Poor sandwich and a poor guy…I feel sorry for Americans and what they eat! I don’t know why do we need to respect a guy who never gives a break from the work and works like a slave in the supermarket his entire life?! Probably he likes money a lot!! There is a beautiful life out there,go and see it…!!
That IS his life and it's what he enjoys. You enjoy you're life the way you want, and respect others who enjoy life the way THEY want!!!!!!! 👍🇺🇲
so how do take credit for just putting meat and cheese on a roll?
He is a good man but exemple ...life is short ,we need to live it ..not all the time working like machine ..
Not so the latins, did'nt have's its...good all their's life's, also all those productions, put on selves and stored n...freezer, produced meats, chickened, fished, grounded beefs, steaked, other's products, 🍞 🍞 diaries 🥛 🧋 🍼 milks ice-creams, 🍫 🍫 🎂 🥮 🍥 🥞 🧁 caked 🍬 🍭 🍬 🍭 🍬 🍭 candies,
Okay, but WHERE is this sandwich place located??
10 seconds of Google 😂

Lake Street in Pasadena, just north of the 134. Can't miss it. It's in a little strip mall.
As a Greek I love Italian food and a great sandwich, but there is nothing special about that sandwich looking at it Sorry.
You don’t get it my Greek friend, but that’s okay.
c'mon...it is to others...have you even been there?
What did he do if he never went out? Money wise?
Hookers jk
What a waste of a life, been nowhere, done only one thing.
