My grandfather lived, grew up & graduated high school in Los Angeles, California, back in the 1940’s. So - my family knew and always heard all about In-N-Out Burger. My father and grandfather would always stop and take us to In-N-Out for a meal when we would travel & vacation in Southern California, whether it was during a visit to Disneyland or hanging out at Newport Beach, Laguna Beach or taking in a Dodgers game at Dodger Stadium. We finally welcomed our first In-N-Out Store, here in Las Vegas, NV on West Sahara Avenue, back in 1992. I lived very close to the second In n Out in Azusa, Ca! Was a great time to be a teenager and drive through with friends at midnight!! I also moved to Vegas in 80! My only regret about leaving Ca was not having accessibility to these burgers! So every trip back and forth to Ca, it was a must that we would pull off of Lynwood in Victorville and get our fixes! Was a glorious day when the stores started coming to Vegas!! I would happily drive to either the Nellis or the Sahara locations! But one day I decided to call the corporate headquarters and suggest that they build a location near me! I’m at Green Valley Pkwy and 215! They kindly spoke with me as I told them that if they built one near me, they would come! Sure enough and I kid you not, within a year they did! Shortly after that they built another and I was equally two miles between both locations and they have a constant line any and every time I go to either one!! That was around early to mid 2000’s! Crazy now there’s a new one 3 miles from me on St Rose!! And they are ALL busy! What a phenomenon!!
I worked at In-N-Out while in college. I knew two of these guys really well. Bob was my Divisional Manager and Chuck used to do QFC (Quality, Freshness, & Cleanliness) while I worked there. Whenever I return from a business trip, I stop by my local In-N-Out. IMHO, White Castle and Five Guys just don’t compare. Does anyone remember when the fries used to be served with the skins still on?
I'd never heard of this chain but it's the type of place I'd love to do business with and I love the interviewer's style. Very professional and also comforting. Good work!
I stopped eating beef a while ago but I still take my kids to In-n-Out every Friday night after we go to Big Al (gaming place) in Milpitas, Ca. The kids absolutely love this place. I enjoy the fries and the place reminds of an innocent/fun place to eat at.
Lots of memories at the original In-N-Out. After our Friday night football games in the early 80’s we would congregate in the parking lot. The football players with their BP letterman jackets & cheer leaders would show up as well. Those were the days. 30 years later my late boyfriend had went to Bonita HS with the Snider boys. Told me some interesting stories. RIP Huell.
If Every Small business follow in their footsteps, then America will be #1 in commerce and customer service. It’s a testament to keeping and growing privately owned businesses can also be great for business.
I agree! Unlike franchises, family holdings care for their employees and keep originality. The best lesson of "In and out" is it adjusts to the changing time while keeping its originality. Which is a bonus.
My wife and I know exactly what you're talking about. We spent quite a few nights at Highway 39 Drive-In considering we lived a stones throw next to it On Pacific St.
@@stevenelliott8690 No, it was called the Highway 39 Drive-in. It was located on the corner of Trask Ave and Beach Blvd in Westminster, Ca. (Orange County). I, literally lived a stone's throw from it back in the late 70's - early 80's. Highway 39 was aka Beach Blvd in OC and continued up toward the San Gabriel Mtns being called Asuza Ave. in LA Co.
I’m glad I stumbled upon this clip. This was originally aired in 2010 but it looks older than that. Technology has come along way in last 10 years. I’ve never had an In n Out burger as I don’t live near one. But since they have expanded in a few other states maybe I will get to one day.
Huell Howser is a household name for our family, my dad would always watched Huell and my mom would always comment about she recognized his voice and never understood why me and my dad would like his program, Huell made where ever he visited interesting, raise in California and being able to see and learn about Californians and the communities to industries.
@@626323909 I think you are referring to the Arrow hwy and Mountain avenue burger place in Upland. That is not an In and Out, it is called EZ take out burger.
A friend of my dads use to sell them advertising. Said they were very unique/independent and had some sort of funky accounting system. I recall the plane crash at John Wayne that was reported to have IN-N Out staff. Miss Huell!
@barrytipton1249 It's mediocre at best. I definitely know what an excellent chesseburger tastes like. It's not hard to distinguish between mediocrity and excellent. Californians think In N Out is excellent because it started in California and most Californians think that Calufornia is the best state in the U.S. therefore, In N Out has the best burgers. I had a Shack Shack burger in the SLC airport that was 10x better than In N Out. Here in Coer d Alene, Roger's Burgers puts In N Out to shame.
@@markmullen1852It's not mediocre, all the ingredients are fresh, never frozen, and you can customize it any which way. Seem to be one of those hate California anything. In-N-Out is dollar for dollar one of the best fast food burgers out there period. And was the first one doing the freshness and quality control out there when the McDs and Burger Kings of the world were slinging precooked and steamed patties and prefrozen products. Places like Shake Shack and 5 Guys came MUCH later, decades later, basically emulating the In-N-Out best processes. Shake Shack does a decent burger and shake--that's it. The rest is forgettable. And they do it at a much higher price point. An In-N-Out double double animal style is still quality for a decent price point. Also prefer the fries, especially animal style over anything Shake Shack offers in fries, loaded, or otherwise.
@@markmullen1852Shacks MUCH newer. Only the burgers and shakes are ok. The rest of their menu is a miss. Prefer I&O fries, especially animal style over Shack's, loaded or otherwise. I&O was doing the fresh ingredients (meat, buns, veggies, fries), freshly made items, never premade/frozen well before shack or 5 g uys got into the business. And you can customize at I&O any which way.
My wife met Bob Williams wife when she was in the hospital because they both shared a room, infact my wife introduced her to me and boy did we have a great conversation about the In N Out company, infact her husband was on the flight that killed members of the Snyder family when the plane crashed on approach to orange county Airport but fortunately Bob and grandma Ester got off at bracket Airport in LA Verne CA, because grandma Ester wasn't feeling well and Bob lived close to LA Verne , Mrs Williams spoke very highly of the company and the Snyder family , she said they are a fantastic company to work for and a great Christian family !!!!!!!!
In-n-Out is my by far favorite burger 🍔 because of the food quality and customer service inside and drive thru! I hope you all never change anything about your business…..Thank you so much❤️
My dad Jim lived in Chula Vista ,Californiafrom 1945- until his death in 2007. The house my Grandma Doug built was located 8 miles North of the border with Tijuana,Mexico and 8 miles south of downtown San Diego. The nearest In/Out was located in San Juan Capistrano about 90 miles North of Chula Vista. But Jim used to drive all the way up to SJC at least once a week. Finally they built one in Pacific Beach,San Diego about 15 miles away and then one went up in National City, about 4 miles from Jim’s home. Just on the other side of the 54 Highway. So Jim didn’t have as far to go. He would catch the trolley at Palomar st Chula Vista, get off and get his order and then get the trolley south back to Chula Vista. I never saw Jim eat a McDonalds or Jackinthe Box hamburger in his life.
Family owned and operated. How often do you hear that these days. And to see Huell Howser promoting California's iconic fast food chain is as natural as a double double.Great presentation.
They’re here in NE Texas now too as of 12/25/2024. One thing is still the same, Best burger I’ve ever eaten! I’m a Native of So Cal, and I’ve eaten plenty of them.
I'm not a California native but I lived there all during the 80's. The first time I had an In-N-Out Double Double was in Pasadena. The store was on corner of Craig and Footbill Blvd. It was my first time and I was curious and the smell coming from that IN-N-OUT stand literally drew me in. After that it's pure instincts. Just check it out. THE IN-N-OUT URGE.
We love the customer service and pleasant employees, the clean and well maintained stores, the fresh food and flexible menu ! Not only that but the cost of an IN N OUT meal is still just a few bucks compared to the big franchise companies who have to pay their stock holders/investors and more.
I moved out of California many years ago. One of the main things I miss the most is In-N-Out Burgers they're just so tasty, and I don't even like hamburgers it's the only one I would eat.
Delicious double-double, fresh fries! I get mine w grilled onion, extra tomato, side of dill pickles, side of special sauce. I get it protein style. You will love how nice they are, and the delicious food! I hope it stays family owned so it will keep the quality! ❤️ In and Out!
Back in the 80's they had In-N-Out Burger bumper stickers but, they stopped making them because a lot of people cut the sticker to read In-N-Out urge. Being they put a bible verse on their cups it didn't quite fit in with their message. I don't eat fast food as much as I used to but, In-N-Out is one of the best IMO.
36:45 We missed the cookout department near the truck wash and we also miss the meet department by the warehouse..... Too bad outstanding facilities for sure.
My favorite funny car was Mark Oswald and 91 I got to go to Topeka and buy me an In-N-Out shirt when he was there racing!!!! Then in 93 I got to go to Vegas to help a friend sister a rocket show girl move from there but i got to ea at In and Out Burger every chance I had and again in 2016 when I was out working on a NASCAR truck race at Phoenix I got to do it again🙂🙃🙂🙃 great memory!!!! Thanks for ur stuff 🙂🙃🙂🙃
36:45 I wish they would have shown the handprints and footprints in the ground at the warehouse. Also they walked right in front of the red phone box and didn't mention it.
Thank you to the late Huell Howser! You sir are also a part of California's Gold.

he was so nice. He had a home next door to my Aunt's home in Palm Springs, and would stop by whenever we had family gatherings. His on-screen personality was not an act. Guy was EXACTLY the same IRL.

Thank you so much for posting this
My pleasure. :) It was hard to find!
@@elijahhenry7404 what year was this filmed please?
Hi, this was filmed February 2010! Just now seeing this, apologies!
Great Episode, In and Out is my favorite burger that I get protein style. The Shelby Mustang GT 350 T-shirt is my favorite!
In n Out is The Best ❤
Huell took us to many wonderful places. He is greatly missed. The In n out company pays their employees well.🤩
The smiles worn by everyone in this segment is contagious, my grinceps ache after watching. 4x4 Animal Style with Chopped Chiles ;) . Miss you Huell.
hahhaa I take the same burger but add raw onion and remove the lettuce and tomato. Chopped chilies are a game changer. I keep a jar from Giuliano in my fridge for homemade smashburgers.
I'm the same age as In-N-Out. Learned so much from watching this video, thank you!!
MY DAUGHTER AND I JUST CAME FROM IN & OUT🏝 BURGER 🍔 FOR DINNER IN REDDING, CALIFORNIA-OFF SOUTH BONNEYVIEW EXIT & ALL THE EMPLOYEES WERE SMILING 😃 & THEY WERE AWESOME!!! THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT & AMAZINGLY 👏 FRESH. WE DRIVE AN HOUR AWAY TO GET THERE & WISH THEY WOULD BUILD ONE IN RED BLUFF, CALIFORNIA BECAUSE THERE IS NO FAST FOODS THAT COMPARE WITH IT!!! SIMPLY DIVINE!!! ABOVE EVERYTHING IS THE BLESSINGS ON THE CUP🥤. THIS IS THE REASON THE COMPANY THRIVES!!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE EVERYONE!!! Colleen, DJ & Jenny. ❤❤❤
Congratulations Huell, now you convinced me to go get a burger at the INnOut in town. I’m starving!
RIP brother man! I’m headed to In N Out tonight! They are a Christian company with great values.
Good work!
Sadly Huell Howser passed some years age. He was a former teacher.
I stopped eating beef a while ago but I still take my kids to In-n-Out every Friday night after we go to Big Al (gaming place) in Milpitas, Ca. The kids absolutely love this place. I enjoy the fries and the place reminds of an innocent/fun place to eat at.
You can get animal fries or a grilled cheese! Both are vegetarian
RIP Huell.
I miss Huell Howser & California Gold!
I have good memories in the 80’s getting in an out in garden grove and going to highway 39 drive in theater!
My wife and I know exactly what you're talking about. We spent quite a few nights at Highway 39 Drive-In considering we lived a stones throw next to it On Pacific St.
Hwy 39 theatre wouldn't be the old Foothill Drive-in, would it???
I'm surprised there was no mention of the two palm trees forming an X at store locations...
It's a mad mad mad world is one of my favorite movies
Huell Howser is a household name for our family, my dad would always watched Huell and my mom would always comment about she recognized his voice and never understood why me and my dad would like his program, Huell made where ever he visited interesting, raise in California and being able to see and learn about Californians and the communities to industries.
I went to Sierra vista high down the street from the original store in the 70's, spent much time there.
I used to go to one In n Out Burgers in early 70s biking on Arrow Hwy east of Claremont. Great fun.
upland
@@626323909 I think you are referring to the Arrow hwy and Mountain avenue burger place in Upland. That is not an In and Out, it is called EZ take out burger.

we been trying to get a in n out burger out here in yucca valley ca good idea there is pleanty of room here in yucca valley ca to build one.
i remember the one in Baldwin park ca there was two lanes.
Loved watching these as a kid in the 2000's..
A friend of my dads use to sell them advertising. Said they were very unique/independent and had some sort of funky accounting system. I recall the plane crash at John Wayne that was reported to have IN-N Out staff. Miss Huell!
true legend. just happy go lucky great attitude. something to aspire to!
They only hire the best candidates. Good attitude, people skills and responsible habits. In fact they are among the highest paid fast food purveyors.
I wish we had one in Atlanta
I haven't heard their wonderful theme song for years, except of course, when My Daughter Alexis sings it. Thank you Poopies.
We are getting two In ‘N Out’s here in southern Idaho and we are excited. The first one opens at the end of the month. 🍔🍔
Nothing special at all. You must've moved to Idaho from California.
@@markmullen1852 Always amazes me when people think that their tastes and opinions are the only ones that matter. 👍🏼
An
In-N-Out double double animal style is still quality for a decent price point.
Love watching this program! Thanks!
RIP Huell. Miss his shows.
Loved Huell Howser. I can't believe they don't advertise.
It’s because they don’t need too. They have a great reputation 🤩
Just had lunch yesterday at in n out here in Las Vegas! I grew up in LA so in n out is still my favorite. I used to love this show too! Great video!
Lindsey is very impressive. It’s great to see the American Dream carry over generationally.
2 of my favorites in one video!!!
Glad to see in-n-out still around God bless fhe owners.
Best burgers + best employees = a great eating experience.
Yes it is
In-n-Out is my by far favorite burger 🍔 because of the food quality and customer service inside and drive thru!
Man I 1st started eating In and Out in the 1st location in the 1960s still eat them in every location I enjoy them forever quality
Family owned and operated. How often do you hear that these days. And to see Huell Howser promoting California's iconic fast food chain is as natural as a double double.Great presentation.
This was Fun to watch. I really like In-N-Out and the Hidden Bible Verses
I was born two blocks from there, damn I miss home
How far away from home now?
This is a great documentary thank you
Amazing company, keep it up!!!
The lettering department blew my mind. To think they make THEIR OWN SIGNS. I guess I shouldn’t expect anything less from in-n-out
Wow!!! I lived across the street from the original. Paddy Lane...a dead end street when I was child, now runs straight to downtown Bolen.
GOD bless the owners family! super genuine nice ppl! very rare!
Thank you for sharing this this is great
They’re here in NE Texas now too as of 12/25/2024.
Still in that area
A new In N Out store just opened in National City on Plaza Blvd. and the 805 Freeway entrance.
I miss Huell Howser.
Interesting documentary.
36:45 We missed the cookout department near the truck wash and we also miss the meet department by the warehouse..... Too bad outstanding facilities for sure.
We also miss the inside of Baldwin park corporate office. It is such a beautiful building especially the second floor.
What a great video .
That was the BEST!
What fun, thanks!
36:45 I wish they would have shown the handprints and footprints in the ground at the warehouse. Also they walked right in front of the red phone box and didn't mention it.
There are in n out burgers 🍔 in Dallas TX today.
