Old time Cumberland resident here. Biking through trails in the woods has been a tradition here for generations and it's wonderful to see trails being maintained, curated and above all loved, by people from all around the world.
Definitely. I spent a summer in Cumberland in the late 90s, and even back then there was a pretty big mountain biking community.
I ride those trail every weekend and they are amazing
Just moved to Vancouver island from saskatoon sk. So im super pumped to hit up the trail networks in cumberland. Always wanted to go.
awesome trails just a nice mix tech and flow. thanks for the adventure!!
You’re welcome! Ya just the perfect mix IMO
Rode Cumberland many times over the last month….love it there
Before I start I gotta say this better be good. I grew up in Cumberland, I ran those trails every day as a kid.( I did the vanilla loop as I’d call it, 3 times in an 3 hours)
At about 9:11 there is a sound that makes me think of a bear growl. I went back and listened about four times. What was that?
Same here, it sounds like that was added so maybe he's trying to mess with us lol.
@@juanmtb3029 I see a shadow at 9:12 of something
@@markkligerman6861 Yeah he already replied in another comment that he added it because a bug came on the lens.
I heard the growl too 😳😳😳
I live in cumberland and bears are normal they are al over the place if u even care
Awesome format! Thoroughly entertaining.
Cheers Ari!
Oh my gosh! I was wondering how you were going so fast and did not fall ... then BOOM! Then ~10:10 I yelled PHUDGE! I think I am going to just be at peace watching Beth-Cam. Ha ha ha - Wicked fast and great filming.
Loving your Vancouver Island tour Vids, I do not know if you remember me or me mentioning I am moving there in may and your videos are getting me so stoked!!! Mt. Tzouhalem Nevilane trail head is literally Two doors down and/or my back yard. Anyway thank you for your content.
damn those trails look fun, keep up the good stuff guys
@TheLoamRanger just watched this oldie but goodie in anticipation of our first trip to Cumberland this summer. Do you recall what bike you were riding back then on these trails?
Just road Cumberland yesterday. Awesome trails and that taco place was the bomb
Sweet! So fun. That burrito I had was massive haha.
Really like your videos. Heading to Vancouver Island to celebrate the Fourth of July (2023) along with Canada Day…eh. Riding Cumberland, Nanaimo, and Victoria/Sydney in addition to catching four to five Victoria Harbor Catz and Nanaimo Night Owlz baseball games while I’m there.
This is the Way
So many awesome places in this beautiful land to ride. So little time. What to choose😬🤘🙏
Scott Normand I know! Spoiled with choices.
Great video, I need to check out van island!! I have to say this is probably some of the best POV audio of biking I have heard. The lows are clear and the highs are crisp. VERY little wind noise, well done, well done! In the clips of you riding was this straight from the GoPro or did you have a lav mic set up? Any time your in the Seattle area I can show you some super fun turns :o
i ride these trails everyday and i can confirm, if you are a mountain biker, you have to come visit us in cumberland everyone is super friendly you wont regret it
Great to see the home trails!
Nice video! Those trails look so fun!
Thanks Luke! They were incredible.
I love the outdoors and am an avid duck hunter but i would of wet my drawers if i would of heard that bear growl while riding bikes. Lol
😂
My thoughts exactly! If I heard that I woulda yelled, "Give it the beans!!!"
Probably gonna go MB this weekend and I’ve been waiting so long to go it’s killing me!!!
Get out there!
Awesome !
Will definitely hit these trails next time I'm out west!!
Lesgo finally my hometown
Sweet!
Cheers!
Tip: if it says "gap jumps," discuss dimensions with your tour guide. If 5-10 feet, you have nothing to worry about, just carry trail speed and you'll be fine. You've hjt MUCH gnarlier stuff. If longer, sure, a look-see definitely makes sense. But why oh why would you ever roll a gap???
You can't enter unless you do the truffle shuffle c'mon do it c'mon doooo iiit!!! Goonies anyone? sweet trail il have to check them out
Don't roll it, send it! ;) Joking, it's tough going in blind like that, glad you didn't break your wrist.
Oh man tell me about it! Haha
Nice trails, nice trip!
First and foremost good luck with your move nice video was just wondering are you using tyre inserts with new tyres ?
Matthew Cove thanks! You know, I meant to put some Huck Norris in the wheels, but I never got around to it, so I did the entire trip (including the EWS100) with no inserts. The tires and wheels were flawless the whole time. 👌🏼
At 9:10 is that fuq’n near chasing him? Tf!?!?!😂😂😂😂
When you rode space nugget did you see the bolder? Cause I’ve also risen space nugget probably more than 50 times
Hey, next time you're in the neighborhood I know a few more trails I think you'd like more. I also take mtb photos for beer!
Very old comment but wondering which trails you're thinking of. I'm looking for tech riding in the area.
@@simonanderson1279 haha, yes very old. Lots of new trails in the past 3 years. Chunder, numbskulls and race rocks have some fun tech.
@@DamonStangherlin Cool, good to know!
Sick trails
Van is a great place. Another cool vid
This is vancouver island and like 5 hours away from van lol
@@tristancrocker3538 Oops. I'm in Ontario so I Know Nuthing :-)
I thought Beth did awesome. Killer shreds as always.
One like - One "yeah"
9:12 I hear BigFoot!!!!
Go back to Thornhill in maple ridge again, I want to see you hit some of the jumplines on the hill. Awesome videos man, keep the good work up!
I definitely want to go back there! There was a step-down/step-up that I had my eye on last time that looked amazing.
Awesome. What’s the trail starting at 11:50 ?????
What do you guys do with your kids when you're out shredding blue/black trails? Are they old enough to watch themselves at a dirt jump park for a few hours or do you have someone watching them?
We usually ride separately, including in this video. Beth hung out with the kids while I rode and I did the same for her ride. We make it work!
@@TheLoamRanger Thanks! i appreciate the reply. Always worried what my future might look like and this eases my mind a bit. Cheers
Can you never add in a bear sound effect again. I thought someone in my office was going on a rampage and I nearly had a panic attack lol
Haha oops. I couldn’t help myself when that bug ran across the lens 😂
Lmao, I'm from the island born and raised and never ridden in Cumberland. I've ridden pretty much everywhere else but that's my next stop.
Haha that's how it goes! I've got a few spots like that in Alberta and I have no idea why I haven't ridden there yet. So many trails... so little time.
That’s where I grew up riding. Cant forget some of those trials
Kyle Slater I just came back from going there for the first time, I fell in love. Can’t wait to go back
what gopro set up are you using here ? great video by the way !!!
Did anyone else hear the beat at about 9:13 and go over it several times? Haha
been there today you missed some good trails same in nanaimo
lol they road space nugget first
Raaaaaaaaaanger 🤘🤘
🔥🔥Chicken cheese tenders🔥🔥
Hi LR. whats that dial on left side of handlebars, a heart monitor? if so, what kind? Im doing research on them.. thanks
That’s a Garmin 735XT. I use it with a chest strap HRM and a speed sensor. Works like a charm!
Whats is that watch handleblar mount? It looks so clean
Alfredo Palhares it’s a Garmin handlebar mount that I trimmed down to be more stealthy.
@@TheLoamRanger oh, you just cutted the top? I will try that on mine too, it looks so bulky. Thank you so much for the awnswer .
Alfredo Palhares ya I cut the bulge-y sections off the front and back of the mount and left the holes for the zip ties intact.
Thank you, I will try it.
yo great video
Did I spot some BC Bike Race stuff🤔Hmm?
what was the last trail you rode called
Dude, looks like you broke your wrist!... Hope it's good, great riding tho👍
Michael Pompa thanks! The wrist was fine, but I had one gnarly bruise where that camera case hit my back! Good times 😂
At 9:12, was that a bear?
One like = one mountain biker!!
Whats that sound at 9:12?? Sounds like a bear?!
9:10
