- The new Pixel Fold is Googles first foldable phone, with an outside screen size of 5.8" and an inside screen that measures 7.6", that looks great for reading or watching videos. No, it's not a gimmick. Sometimes you want a huge display to view content, and sometimes you just want a regular sized display. It's nice to have both in one device.

It's a gimmick for now bc it's still new technology that's their trying to put in phones
Hopefully in the future it becomes a feature of newer phones
I love the foldable form factor as an artist/ designer. I was about to replace my iPad and iPhone but Google missed with no stylus at 1800 😅
I can see the benefits for an artist/designer. To have a foldable on hand for when ideas pop up or work needs done on the go. That is a great point about no stylus support.
You can use a regular stylus. Not sure if you’d get the same functionality in terms of drawing if you do on a flexible screen but you can def do some drawing
The pixel fold is dope. Im loving it. Who dont need or dnt have a tablet. This is a good phone and a tablet. Best of both worlds. And it does have spen support on both inner and outer screen. Wouldnt use a sharp one on inner screen doe, just for caution.

First, Craig, this is a great macro level review. Your ability to set aside free procurement reviewer mode and go into regular user mode is very important. While I suspect it is easy to do, few specifically do so.
Second, I believe foldable phones have a long term future ahead of us. They may even become the largest class of smartphones at some point, at least until there is a flexy stretchy type of display that we can form into anything each time we use it.
My limitation is that I am deep in the Apple ecosystem. So, until Apple launches one (probably two years before my prophecised flexy stretchy screen comes out!), I am unlikely to make the switch.

I am with you on foldable being the future. Why wouldn't you want a tablet on hand with your phone. I am like you and deep into the apple ecosystem. I cannot wait until Apple makes one. What’s the video quality like out of this? That seemed to be a weak point in previous Pixels
I hope you are well Gareth. Good to see you. I don't think the video quality keeps up with iPhones. The photos are really processed. Where I think apple relies on the hardware to create the look. I might be totally wrong.
I have the Z fold 4 for about a year now and I work in a dirty environment and take it to the beach regularly with no issues.
That is great to hear that it has held up well. It is easy to get scared with these devices.
Does the phone overheat? Hows the battery life?
A lot of buyers remorse in here. The review broke it down wonderfully. Apps not being optimized, the large bezels, and the phone not folding completely are all deal breakers. And for $1800? Not even batting an eye at this generation. Maybe next time

It’s a foldable phone, it’s common at this point, the price is in line for a foldable phone.
The only reason I haven't gotten a foldable phone is because I think the crease would bother me

I would get the iPhone mini. I say that as someone who is firmly in the Apple ecosystem. I like using Android, but it does have roadblocks in my work flow compared to my iPhone and other Apple devices. The second reason is that the screens are too fragile. I don't mind the crease as much as the durability of the screen.
i love it. but i would rather buy the z fold 5.
feels more premium. better build. and i hate those big bezzels.
i dont care about the small and long front display. i see it as a tablet that i can also use as a phone.
but i before i buy i just want the high end camera. :/

I love my pixel fold it's been the best I've had in a while. It does have some things that need improvement but which phone doesn't.

Too rich for my blood. It’d be nice to have the option of a larger screen, but until they’re thinner, lighter and less expensive, I think I’ll keep my foldable money in my pocket.

Samsungs Fold is a cool looking phone.
Personally I don’t buy ‘trends’… anyone can see that the hinge electrical connection will fail.
This is not a trend my guy, and if your afraid to venture out that's fine, I will use these any day of the week.
Gimmick . Too expensive. I'm stuck in the Apple family.
No Gimmick awesome production and I've got 2 years old Z Fold 3 also very good for work and play with the pen only at 850.00 and the Pixel Fold at launch 900 Att no trade in and 800 T Mobile. Only things are gimmicks when apple doesn't sell them.
Lol it's a gimmick since 2017-18 they have been making foldables for a minute now, so until Apple makes one then it will cease to be a gimmick right...😊
I have taken this phone to the beach with no problems and I took the screen protector off of mine and the display looks a ton better, and no you won't void your warranty. I talked to Google support about it.
imagine it as buying a phone and an ipad mini in one device which easily comes out to the same price as a pixel fold/ z fold, and the z fold's pen doesn't even cost an extra $100
