Pushing close to 80,000 subs and proceeds to make us all jealous with his fine tools and impressive skills, this man has exerted his dominance and I am in awe !
Barry Johansen Awwww Man! I've spent $120 on some super duper floor lamp specifically for crafts. It's very bright...so the shadow is even darker from it! I need to hear from Tony too. I'm gonna post another comment up top to make sure he sees it
Bagram Dave I picked a couple inexpensive clamp on lamps, 2or 3 bucks each, clamped them to the sides of the bench. Much better but I think I need 100 w bulbs, the 60’s army quite enough. Nice thing is I can reposition them as needed.
You missed out the most important tools my friend, *HANDS!* My number one tool. Took me the past two years to get the use back of my hands (SERO + Reactive Arthritis). No tool is useful if you can't hold it.
Leather scissors, I cut all my patterns out with scissors. The straight edges I cut with a metal ruler and a box cutter, but all the round parts with my scissors. It's got tiny little teeth on the bottom blade that grips the leather while the super sharp top blade cuts through like a hot knife through butter
One of my favorite tools is the Wood Is Good 18-ounce mallet. Good comfortable handle, very quite, and super durable. Thousands of strikes and not a scratch on it. Picked it up on Amazon
Thank you for such great videos... I am starting from zero and they have given me the confidence to get some leather, pick up my (cheap) tools and have a go... Greetings from Brisbane Australia
@@andreasL4114 g'day Andy.. me too, I'm on the peninsula so it's only 15mins from me.. and has anything I could ever need... I also got a 3rd grade roo skin of ebay for about $30 .. and its great for heaps of projects... cheers mate.
You're pretty friggen good, Tony! Thanks for dropping major knowledge on these tools! You cut through the fluff and we love how blunt you are, yet you're sharp at the same time! Love you... - Brian + Erin
WOOOOOOHOOOO that is the hat I voted for, can't wait to make one for myself Back to the tools, I was so glad to see that your old knife made it as the top tool. I have one similar that my Dad gave me & I am very skilled at using it, I cut round corners fine now problem. I've not been successful with that curved blade but do have it in my arsenal of blades. The Palosantos with ebony handle is the one I'm saving up for, I want to upgrade to something special and this is what I need. Well I'm happy that I have these tools and I just need to concentrate on upgrading and getting a wider range of the 1/2 and 1/4 rounds because the whole set is needed Thanks for the awesome video as usual
When I have made custome seam rippers, I take great amount of care making my handles. I believe this is one of the greatest things I take into account when making any tool. Quality and craftsmanship. Some of my favorite tools I purchase are high quality German steel carving tools. These tools last a lifetime and they are still sharp.
Just made a holster for my Star Trek phaser and used rivets. I learned the hard way the importance of an anvil. Just order one for future projects. Thanks!
Gotta go with my Cowboy long arm sewing machine. Still sew a lot by hand but no more 4-hour belt builds and can pop out a custom holster over lunch. After that, would be the Crafttool heavy leather scissors (Tandy) or their pro series rotary punch. Will need to look at the press as the ones I've seen in the past are way too expensive.
I've seen you use that small blade knife many times. Best I have is a scalpel. Learning from every video you show..Keep up the good work. Many thanks, Rick. ILLINOIS, USA, EARTH
dozerman53111 which one do you have and where can I get it. (Brand name of yours please). There are millions from China and I already have a box of junk leather tools cus they "seem to look the same "
Tony, another entertaining and informative video, I really enjoy your presentations and sense of humour. I remember you saying a good pattern is key to the quality of the end result, to that end could you do a video on how you go about producing a pattern? I would be particularly interested in how you get the punched holes so perfectly laid out. Thank you for all your excellent and instructional tutorials.
Shout out for Proxxon Tool! Love mine to bits, best buy ever. I have the 12v Micromot system and small bench press to drill thick leather like knife sheaths.
I gotta go with my stitching pony as my most useful and favourite tool. Partially because I made, partially because it gives me an extra hand when working on things.
If you want an inexpensive version of the palosanto beveler's, I have discovered Diudus on Amazon. The packaging is amazing and the tools are too. A lot of people claim they are worthless but I haven't found a flaw... I will buy these other the others. Also, their other tools are quality as well. I bought a French Skiver and a few other things and they are amazing. Let me know if any of you try them out!
My favourite tool is a silverline 16oz deadblow mallet. Its heavy enough for punching, makes very little noise and doesn't bounce or shock your hand. Costs less that £10 on ebay/amazon.
Pretty simple build. The picture shows you all you need for a design. Make sure your holes are smaller than 4mm and fill with either bbs or airsoft pellets.
Tony and all my comrade subscribers, will you put a link to the exact press you bought. There are so many it's confusing. I've heard some can fit some standard size dies and others fit only specific off brand stuff. Anyone know what I'm trying to say and can help me out?
I quite agre on the knife as no. 1. My favorite tool is your videos. I learned so much from zero! Thanks so much!
Another video idea: Show us your sharpening 'program' - bevellers, punches, blades, etc.
I'd definitely like to see this.
Yes, thisss!!!
Yes please. The one that I need help with is the one with the curved blade that you showed first. Thanks in advance.

Good lighting over the bench. Have trouble seeing a line or get confused by a shadow and it’s easy to make an error.
Good one mate, I agree. I recently bought a head lamp and I love it for cutting on lines

Like many others, I'd love to see a video on tool sharpening. Also leather selection!
Those folding box cutters are far better than the large retractable types. The stupid button is always right where I need to put my hand.

Thank you for sharing your favorites! It is helpful as I am new to the craft!
Very useful, thank you. Any chance you could share where you got that very interesting stitching pony you use?
Great list. I'm not surprised at #1 at all.

@@bagramdave883 I only have a cheap china one from eBay. Not very good one , sorry.
dozerman53111 forgive me. I thought you meant it was the best tool you have. Sounds like you don’t like the cheap scalpel from China

Great video Tony, the box cutter is a great tool, also finding this tool useful..thank you, keep up the great work.
Love learning about new tools!!
Thank you, Tony!

My favorite tool would be a leatherman multitool. I use it for everything. And as its name, it's quite efficient when doing leatherwork as well.
I gotta go with my stitching pony as my most useful and favourite tool. Partially because I made, partially because it gives me an extra hand when working on things.
Idk. It's easier for me to use clamps.
The Idle Hands Workshop What sort of things did you fix compared to those cheap one on Amazon? I'd love to see yours. Maybe Tony's Facebook group?
@@bagramdave883 first episode on my channel... Didn't fix anything, just kept it simple which in my mind makes it perfect for my needs
Great video Tony, this levelled is on my wish list, it looks amazing.
I like the charter made pattern knife. Of course I didn't buy it from charter made but from an ebay blacksmith because of the price.
Peace & thx Tony! You are real the best Yt for Leathercraft beginning ! Cool tutorial & jazzy (easy to fall) pattens! Jedi-Leathercraft-Master 🖖🏽♥️🌍

Great review Tony. Thank you
Great video! Thanks
YEA! the orange hat won!! Also I wouldn't mind the shoulder pattern as well. Please add it to your etsy shop?
Very good video.
Good information.
¡Qué guapo con este cambio de imagen! Sorry! Saludos desde México. Mi favorita, la número 1
My best tool is a Scalpel with blades No 11-12
So where’s the video on the felt polishing pad technique?
Hi Tony, how do we sharpen edge bevelers?
I also need your advice on how to best light my table top. 2 light just means I get 2 shadows.
can you use hand press for rivets too ?
absolutely

Hi Tony, would you please post the link to the exact anvil you are using?
excellent! unfortunately, the anvil link is different....
My best tool is youtube:-)))
The thread zapper... all it took was me getting a lighter flame too close when melting my thread once.... nope.. never again.
I endorse the thread zap

Local restaurant supply store will have large UHDP cutting boards which work.
