The late Allen Clarke referred to Ken Clarke as a health insurance risk 😂
Wow, a REAL OLD-SCHOOL POLITICIAN in many ways!!! I loved those ENGRAVINGS of various personages he has on his walls!!!😃😃❤.....
He is still a bitter remainer and an EU fanatic. Anyone who holds the view that we should be in the EU and tried so hard to stop brexit is simply too stupid to be an MP, and that's an fact.
Funny how the Tories used to mock Diane Abbott who never got near ministerial office, but it was they who elected Liz Truss as Prime Minister.
I was always impressed that he came back as Shadow Business Secretary and later Justice Secretary (especially since he went out on a high in the nineties and now he admits that was very good timing)
One of the best politicians this country ever had. Very brave man when he voted against the Iraq war, for example.
Still trying to come to terms with the damage done to the the uk.
Best Chancellor ever and one of very few tories I have any time for.
if he was the best chancellor ever, then the talent pool hasn't exactly been deep. Oh, and he was a crap Health Secretary. Remember the Labour election posters? 'What do you call a man who doesn't listen to his GP? Kenneth Clark.'
Best ever. If you listen to his self-promotion, you might think Gordon was the best ever one. This Clarke fellow left the job with the country in a better place.
Tom Jackson. Clarke was a Remainer though and fought against the Refetendum. Perhaps you think that is O.K.
@@valeriedavidson2785 I do. Show me one concrete benefit of Brexit. It’s an economic disaster.
@@tom5216 Absolute rubbish. It is the best thing this country ever did. After Brexit on January 1st, almost immediately we had the covid pandemic. Just getting over that and Russia went to war with Ukraine. We have hardly had any breathing space. Add to that the fact that we now have globalist remainers in charge of our government at the moment. This country has succeeded in obtaining many trade deals around the world since Brexit. The energy crisis showed us
just how stupid it is to rely on other countries and we have been able to secure supplies from other parts of the world because we are free to do so since Brexit , although extremely expensive. Successive governments over the years in Britain have made terrible mistakes mainly not making ourselves energy independent. This of course is because of the obsession with net zero. Added to this the government since Brexit have not begun to take advantage of the opportunities we now have. This is not a Conservative government they are socialists and the sooner we get some capable people elected the better. Eventually we will reall reap the benefits of independence. Roll on the next election. There is nothing good to be said for the EU.
Im the same as him. My doctor said Ive got a drinking problem, I said its no problem, I like it.
Why did they seat her fifteen feet above his head?
He's an acknowledged expert on modern jazz, that's the only thing he his an expert on. One of Thatcher's right hand henchmen, a man of intrigue and backroom deals, master of slim. A pro European, too the core. The kind of hypocrite, the woke BBC, Channel 4 and GBN News, love to interview.
A shame he always dressed like a charity shop and paid no attention to the national debt or Immigration. Probably not even aware...
Well of course he was amazed! It was all set up. They picked a presentable, articulate, bright, young man and selected his opponent to be slightly gauche and awkward and not too good with words. They thought they had it in tha bag. Surely, everyone would vote for the bright one? However, the electors listened to what they both said and Truss was saying all the right things and once in office she chose the right people to carry out what she proposed.
At that point the powers that be panicked. She had to go and their first choice had to be installed. Sod the electors! They just confirmed that we no longer live in a democracy.
When was Britain ever a democracy? Money is the sovereign of that brothel.
Electors? Less people voted for her than voted for Mick Lynch.
@@steveturner6770 I was talking about the Conservative party members that voted in the Truss v Sunak prime ministerial election. They preferred Truss but that was the wrong answer.
You're forgetting the part where she added £50 billion of debt onto the country overnight! Ruined peoples livelihoods overnight and stalled the property market! Yeah she's a good un! I've heard she's that thick she can't spell Mary (her real name) so chose Liz instead! Absolutely embarrassing!
@@philcooper279 No guarantee of good service in a brothel, whatever the money.
Yes I agree. I do not believe she should have become prime minister especially in a crisis like we are having.
I don't believe sunak should be prime minister either.
Has unpopular has it may be with some I think the tories shot themselves in the foot forcing boris to resign he should have been allowed to finish is term in office and go for another genral election 2024. This is not democracy replacing our elected prime minister boris with an unelected sunak its an insult to the electorate in my opinion.
Boris is dead 💀 get over it
In fairness, Boris was insulting the electorate every time he told ridiculous lies. Also in fairness, Rishi (and every other minister) defended Boris day in day out ever since he came to office. In the end, Boris fell because he was a liability to the (parliamentary) party and Rishi (and a few others) showed some initiative in kicking off the process.
Come on, Sunak, a SERIOUS HARD-WORKING politician, is ten times' better, and just what this country needs, than the SELF-INDULGENT, CORRUPT, UNSCRUPULOUS man we had in Boris Johnson😠😠😠😠.....

Or undemocratic hindsight khan starmer.
Starmer saw Boris has his biggest threat and spent months and months trying to stir the public against Boris with the hyped up propaganda partys.
None of us had hardly heard of sunak till Boris gave him a job on the front bench and he paid him by stabbing Boris in the back.
Sunak is a multimillionaire he isn't in the job for the money he's there for his vast ego nothing else.
Well she did better then you!
“Better” I think you need to understand the meaning of the word
Are we talking about in bed or out of bed? Also, how do you know? Have you inside knowledge?
I liked Ken Clarke. He was decent and honest. I loathe and detest the current Tory rabble.
No-one's an expert at everything, Ken. That's why we have democracy.
Is THAT why we have democracy?? Are you implying parliament full of experts in different fields? Or you think tyrants are incapable of engaging experts? Or did you just want to sound clever?
I'm an expert on not being an expert, so there...
I don't agree with him on Europe or much else, but I love his personality and candour. A whiskey and Havana cigar everynight.

Well, I won't. Reform what? Politics is about power, Reform politicians will be the same old gang, playing , the same old game.
Ken has never really been in my opinion a proper Conservative. He is very much a Blairite, would happily go along with Blair's destruction of the UK's institutions(legal, educational, constitutional, etc.) as well as very pro EU stance.
@@alphabetaxenonzzzcat what’s a proper conservative? Someone who supports national self-immolation like Brexit?

And don’t forget Neil Oliver I can not bear to listen to him either
Good interview
They don’t make them like that anymore! The best PM we never had
phew, that was a lucky escape!
I am no Conservative, but I do like Ken Clarke, and think he would have been a good PM and Tory leader. I was amazed Liz Clarke became PM, and knew she would be a disaster. Though did not anticipate such a short term disaster. Also if Ken Clarke had been PM he would certainly avoided the Brexit disaster. Even the American press are criticising it for the load of BS it is, and the damage it has done to the economy. Why Cameron felt under pressure from that Frog Faced Twat Farage is beyond me. A man who has never held a political office in this country, and led these farcical one note parties, but ironically did in the EU parliament.

A question for the ex finance minster. What causes hyper inflation??????????
Yes Liz Truss was a silly schoolchild that somehow became a Prime Minister, but of all people I would have thought Mr Clarke would, or should,be the last person to get involved in a debate about the suitability of any MP to occupy that office. He was,by any measure one of the most hopelessly destructive government ministers this country has experienced since 1945.He left a trail of chaos and destruction behind him in every portfolio he held, and from which we are still suffering the consequences to this day.
