    Good old Ken, how I miss him. Seven years after the referendum, the "Brexit Crisis" still rolls on, deepening every day to new lows. As Ken predicted, the ERG is utterly incapable of stabilising matters and it looks to get considerably worse before any improvement.

    He is a smart man who voted against the referendum bill. Cameron called the referendum because he used his referendum promise to shut up the sceptics in his party and avoid defections to UKIP. He fully expected to lose the 2015 election and not have to keep that promise. The referendum has divided families and the younger and older generations.

      Cameron called it to answer a question Labour sidestepped. They promised one on Nice Treaty and reneged. Brown didn't want to hold one on Lisbon either. The issue was he left Leave open and walked off when he should've on the Monday returned to Parliament to ratify the result into law to be able to begin proceedings to get a agreed position to trigger A50 and the 1972 EC Act. The Project Fear by Osborne and the Bus by Vote Leave were appalling and ruin trust in politics. The chaos is about Cameron ran off

All we want is to leave the EU. It is a personal choice that crosses political boundaries. Mr Clarke talking about politicians of 50 years ago adds little to the debate. A little bit of research on this will show that the reason for this tax was to ensure that the UK received something on policies sold WITHIN THE UK by companies who established overseas bases to deliberately avoid paying tax in the UK. At some point he had become disillusioned with American involvement in the Middle East like the fake weapons of mass destruction war on Iraq. Eventually he was captured by American forces. I am surprised that the UK had a similar case with a young lady of Bangladesh ancestry. Or I should not be surprised since a similar happened in America.

The current party, and the ERG are not what I recognise as Conservative, they're very much more right wing than the party has been in the last few decades. Thatcher herself was pro EU. Churchill was pro Europe for obvious reasons. Ken Clarke is very much mirroring their views because he knows all the scare stories being touted by the leavers are just that, scare stories with little basis in fact. The date of the 29th is important because it is law. It is not arbitary. It is a date agreed upon by the vast majority of MP's to leave with or without a deal. To ignore the triggering of article 50 of the Lisbon treaty is to ignore democracy, and the process of Parliament.
    The headline of this video is misleading. Clarke called the act of attempting to remove Theresa May by the ERG, incompetent, not the group itself. The ERG is the only entity in Parliament that wants to stand by the result of the Referendum, and the manifest of both parties during the general election. It is MP's like Kenneth Clarke, that want to kick the can of Brexit down the road in perpetuity.

    Im surprised at Mr Clark saying that the leaving date of the 29th march is not important and why people keep repeating that date like its important... Well Mr Clark, cast your mind back a bit to the vote in Parliament, that made the date of the 29th of march as legally binding and put into British law, unless of course there is an expressed request by the government to the EU to extend it, to which all other member states have to agree... Perhaps its that point people keep on referring to the 29th of march...Doesn't our British law matter anymore if it doesn't agree with your undemocratic remain stance.. Oh, and the ERG are not hard right.. The ERG are just trying to make sure that the government honours its manifesto. A novel idea i know, but that doesn't make them hard right..

    I dont like going against Ken's views because of his vast experience , but watching from South Africa as a South African , It appears that I have not heard any specifics on the remain argument , they say it will be disruptive , project fear , and so on , but politics is like that ...disruptive . The problem seems to be that the EU has itself changed from a mere trading block , to an entity that is removing the fundamental rights of its 28 member countries , the euro, the ECJ (courts) The European Central Bank , Administrative interference in foreign affairs, fisheries, migration, tax and budgets (Italy and Greece) , interest rates , etc. When South Africa left the commonwealth , there were the same dire predictions, which never happened . Even little Singapore survived and thrived after its independence . Same with India , Malaya , Caribean Islands, half of Africa, Canada, why not UK ?

    • @PWSH
      @PWSH 5 років тому

      Only one needed mate... But this one has to be honest and not conducted through illegal means as the leave campaign did.
      Remainers are just asking for a voice for the Leavers who were lied to and were told we could have a second referendum after negotiations were complete. Prominent leave campaigners continue to lie to the electorate and ex-leavers want their voice heard after they have now found out the truth.
      So to answer your question, we should have One truthful honest Referendum based on truths and facts. Not the illegal behaviour that the UK has fallen into in the past. Democracy is the right to change your mind and to punish illegal behaviour when found.
