I was raised at a time when to ''be on the dole'' was considered shameful. All young people expected to start on the bottom rung and work for junior wages while first year apprentices, nurses and trainees were paid even less. These days I have grand daughters living on benefits that pay more than my daughter earns working four contract teaching jobs.

Working From Home is not a new concept. people have done it for years before COVID. This idea that everyone needs to be in an office to work is to be frank backwards. obviously some jobs do require it but not all. This notion that people that WFH are just sat there twiddling their thumbs is nonsense. Company's have targets to meet, if they are not met then the same will apply to someone who sits in an office and does nothing all day. Its not a trust based system. If you work from home, you are generally monitored all day on what you have achieved and your average work load per hour.

Valid criticisms of JRM won't be found in his morality because he is steadfast and honest. It won't be found in his politics because that is predicated by his morality. But, you will find it in his faith: Catholicism is the faith of classism. What I mean is classic honestly interpreted Catholicism is a vision of embraced perpetual guilt, yet JRM would have it that he is ascended from the requirement by virtue of his stature as evidence. Therefore, us plebs need to work out the issues of the nation, he and his have earned the right to judge from the sidelines with absolution.

Everyone with any clue already knows the answer to that - MPs from ALL parties in the West have been brainwashed from school to university into socialism and the brightest are recruited by socialist elites organisations such as WEF and Soros front organisations to become "future leaders" ie socialist infiltrator puppets. These then go into polics, local authorities and civil service where they can progress the socialist agenda of bring about the NWO of a one world socialist tyranny. The dumb activists who can't get into the Tory party instead join unions, the Fabians and Labour and come up by being loud mouth screaming bots that just repeat what they are told by the co-ordinated Marxist media, CIA, FBI, MI5 and the other Goebbels style socialist networks. So the West is in a situation where even the traditional "conservative" parties are infiltrated by socialist fifth column...Rishi is WEF, and the 30 MPs including Teresa May and Philip Hammond prior to the last UK election crossed the floor to sit where they actually belong with the traitors to the UK that are the Labour Party - who work for the unelected socialist dictators "EU Commissioners" instead of the voters they were supposed to represent.

We'd terribly decent about the monthly health insurance premium the plebs would be obliged to pay. And if you cant pay then I'm sure we could arrange some awfully reasonable credit terms.

Some jobs are not most efficient remotely and some work better. I've worked in situations where everyone was office based, some where almost everyone was home based all the time, and various hybrid mixtures, as well as with teams are rarely in the office because they work on many sites, go to customers etc. The relevant point is what is the most productive model that works for the business and allows them to have the staff they want for their business. Working from home can be an excellent model and more productive than office based. People are less exhausted from long commutes, often put in extra time because they can when they arent restricted by transport timings and other obligations that are time dependent involving longer complex travelling. It also means you are less interrupted by trivia and environmental distractions from others and can get on with things more efficiently. The downside can be lack of structure and isolation for those that need more support, especially at the start of a job. It's also helpful to get to know people and form relationships cross departments if you have that kind of job, which can be much harder remotely. I'm personally in favour of hybrids that allow people to pick and choose the most appropriate time for working from home and when they need to be in the office to work alongside colleagues in a joint space for practical reasons.
I dont subscribe to the idea that everyone working from home isnt actually working. In my experience the opposite is true and people work longer because it's easier without commute times and because the boundaries become blurred when your home is a work place and you can just get that bit finished and not have to run for the train.

Forget the accent for a moment, I'm sure he has a personality and she kept giving him the opportunity to cease being Sir Roderik Glossop in Jeeves & Wooster, but he could have simply said you know I enjoy rowing, reading a good book outdoors, walking, watching kids play sport etc etc. As for the content, Nothing he said was different from hundreds of other members. About the only thing he could focus on is where he talking about career establishment. That could be something. And perhaps something around Nannies, takes a village to raise children. Other observation is, he appears not to be a weathervane and if he brought some Wooster personality he might be less misunderstood. Conviction politicians are rare these days, most are flopping fish on dry land.

A robust Opposition which is where the Govt is headed is a necessary evil in the Westminster Parliamentary System. I find myself agreeing with the Lord's going. Although, post Brexit it's probably time for larger boroughs and less members. It does look incredibly top heavy.
