Some jobs are not most efficient remotely and some work better. I've worked in situations where everyone was office based, some where almost everyone was home based all the time, and various hybrid mixtures, as well as with teams are rarely in the office because they work on many sites, go to customers etc. The relevant point is what is the most productive model that works for the business and allows them to have the staff they want for their business. Working from home can be an excellent model and more productive than office based. People are less exhausted from long commutes, often put in extra time because they can when they arent restricted by transport timings and other obligations that are time dependent involving longer complex travelling. It also means you are less interrupted by trivia and environmental distractions from others and can get on with things more efficiently. The downside can be lack of structure and isolation for those that need more support, especially at the start of a job. It's also helpful to get to know people and form relationships cross departments if you have that kind of job, which can be much harder remotely. I'm personally in favour of hybrids that allow people to pick and choose the most appropriate time for working from home and when they need to be in the office to work alongside colleagues in a joint space for practical reasons. I dont subscribe to the idea that everyone working from home isnt actually working. In my experience the opposite is true and people work longer because it's easier without commute times and because the boundaries become blurred when your home is a work place and you can just get that bit finished and not have to run for the train.
He needs to either sort out the betrayal of the British voter in his own party or leave the party and set up with likeminded people from inside or outside the political classes.
He says something that is remarkable, he has his own believes, nevertheless he does not pretend his ideas be a rule or be taken as an idea to be followed. Despite not being a liberalist politician, he equally had said that he believes in free speech also.
Civil servants working from home doesn't work, afterall you can never get through to an government body you have to spend hours on the phone before you get through, do we really need them mind you though must be lovely to have a job where all you do is flick paper clips at each other all day and throw paper airplanes at each other
The problem with JRM is that you have to 'read between the lines' with him. For example, reading between the lines, he refused to use Zoom to organise his civil servants when he was in power. This is why he failed to advance Brexit and why he hates Zoom and WFH.
He is thee ONLY man in Parliament who is moral and honest (including the CoE Bishops in the Lords!!!). He rightly says he does what he believes to be moral/ good (ie has genuine virtue) and only facts influence his actions and debates. In contrast we see other MPs pander to polls and worry about popularity and narcissistic "virtue" signalling to gain cheap exposure.
I'm at a loss as to why he didn't throw his hat into the ring, after Truss went down screaming, but he obviously has his reasons, not least of which is his six children!
Judeo Christian values relegated to a minority view, obviously we should celebrate the breakdown of the family , attack on marriage, abortion , divorce and euthanasia on demand. Violence on the street and in the house. And we have the audacity to tell the rest of the world they are wrong and our depravity is how they must live.
I don't think anyone would disagree that this is in an intellegent thoughtful man. However agreeable he is I totally disagree with him. Brexit has been a disaster especially for business, our future generations life chances and the arts. It hasn't effected him and his family. He should go and live on a council estate up north for a few months without his nanny.
Forget the accent for a moment, I'm sure he has a personality and she kept giving him the opportunity to cease being Sir Roderik Glossop in Jeeves & Wooster, but he could have simply said you know I enjoy rowing, reading a good book outdoors, walking, watching kids play sport etc etc. As for the content, Nothing he said was different from hundreds of other members. About the only thing he could focus on is where he talking about career establishment. That could be something. And perhaps something around Nannies, takes a village to raise children. Other observation is, he appears not to be a weathervane and if he brought some Wooster personality he might be less misunderstood. Conviction politicians are rare these days, most are flopping fish on dry land.
@@jameshogan6142 well I wasn't going there. Strip out the accent and image as just a transcript and he's not a wallflower. He has a certain "what's it" as Bertie Wooster would say. A robust Opposition which is where the Govt is headed is a necessary evil in the Westminster Parliamentary System. I find myself agreeing with the Lord's going. Although, post Brexit it's probably time for larger boroughs and less members. It does look incredibly top heavy.
Who can remember the promises no more vat on energy bills, no border control in Dover , if we vote to leave then dear Jacob moved his hedge fund company somerset management to Dublin, to trade within the EU, he told us that our lives would be enhanced without the EU membership .
Poor Jacob is totally clueless about IT. This colours his luddite views on WFH. I'm betting he doesn't own a smartphone; his kids still playing board games. The WFH problem is all about self-discipline in terms of personal responsibility and minimising distractions. We no longer need vast offices, and that's a fact.

He should be PM, instead of the woke usurper!
Why didn't he support Andrew Bridgen last Tuesday. I suspect he's a WEF lackey.
Is that the case....VERY disappointing!
Looking forward to this lefty woman questioning Muslim MP's about their faith. She never will of course.
superb gg
Wished he was the PM instead of Sunak
He is thee ONLY man in Parliament who is moral and honest (including the CoE Bishops in the Lords!!!). He rightly says he does what he believes to be moral/ good (ie has genuine virtue) and only facts influence his actions and debates. In contrast we see other MPs pander to polls and worry about popularity and narcissistic "virtue" signalling to gain cheap exposure.
Next Party Leader - sooner than later!
Should of asked better questions
I think she was a bit smitten with Jacob/
From the get-go promises to be a terribly nice, non-intrusive, fawning masquerade of an interview. But hey this is 100% supportive GBN.
My favourite politician. A really good man.
JRM is the PM we will never get ??? PITY …
I really like Moggy ❤
I'm at a loss as to why he didn't throw his hat into the ring, after Truss went down screaming, but he obviously has his reasons, not least of which is his six children!
Why do donkeys get airtime????
Judeo Christian values relegated to a minority view, obviously we should celebrate the breakdown of the family , attack on marriage, abortion , divorce and euthanasia on demand. Violence on the street and in the house. And we have the audacity to tell the rest of the world they are wrong and our depravity is how they must live.
0.53, "We can just switch on electricity and our houses warm up" Shouldn't he have said those that can afford to switch on ?
I don't think anyone would disagree that this is in an intellegent thoughtful man. However agreeable he is I totally disagree with him. Brexit has been a disaster especially for business, our future generations life chances and the arts. It hasn't effected him and his family. He should go and live on a council estate up north for a few months without his nanny.
Yes, be you @
The Brexit opportunities minister.....
Well spoken, but I guess the Brexit thing is being uncovered....
I have seen interviews where he compares himself to Woodhouse's Gussie Finck Nottle or Spink Bottle as Wooster's aunt calls him.
JRM mocked the dead of Grenfell tower, the arrogance and contempt he has for the majority of the electorate is disgusting
That never happened. It's disgusting that you should make up such stories about someone.
@@Marc_Lambert Google the newspaper’s on Tuesday 5th November 2019 and check it out for yourself
@@neilhedley6080 I checked before commenting. I watched the LBC interview with Rees-mogg talking about it, and he said no such thing.
Well when you scare people as much as we have done what did you expect would happen
The Great Panic - Peter Hitchens
I love JRM we need MP's that stand up for family values & value for tax payers money. We need less wokies & more Moggies.
Of course he owns a smartphone. He uses and iPhone and talked out never needing a laptop because his iPad met his needs
The Mogg 👍
My hackles would have gone up immediately the interviewer said she had prejudices against Moggy. What a good way to make your interviewee uncomfortable! Silly!
I think she was charmed by Jacob and she simpered a bit.
The real me is the name of the 2nd episode of buffy the vampire slayer. It establishes Buffy's sister Dawn that came out of nowhere in the previous episode.
He shouldn't get too comfortable on the back benches. When the election comes he is toast.
Pass me the sick bucket 🤢
