Hello Crochet buddies!
We're jumping back into motifs this week. I'll be showing you how I crochet solid hexagon motifs from an initial circle shape. This is great for creating modular projects like blankets and afghans or anything else you can think of;)

This was by far the clearest and most easy to follow hexagon pattern tutorial I found on my quest to make a honeycomb shaped coaster for a gift idea I had. Much appreciated and thank you!
How wonderful! Glad it helped. Honeycomb coasters! What a great idea:)
Thank you so much! I've been struggling trying to do hexagons! You made this so easy to understand and do! I will be checking out your other videos!
Oh how lovely! Thank you for commenting and letting me know that this is useful. Pop by and say hi anytime:)
I have tried for months to learn a hexagon. I think this is alot easier. . I want a lager hexagon though. Thank ypu

I would like to know how put these hexagons together to make a afghan. Thank you
HI Bonnie, I show you how to do this in this video here: ua-cam.com/video/Nmj-vpPEjzE/v-deo.htmlsi=yjPPyXRtJJf_JFjj
Hope this helps!
Excelente!👏🧶
Oh thank you Morena:)
The tip about alternating the increase is excellent. Thank you very much! Now, I have a question: can you do the opposite of this pattern, that is, start with a hexagon and then turn it into a circle?
That is an awesome question and one I will be experimenting with and I will get back to you;)
great tutorial ! is there a written pattern?
Hi Karen! Thanks so much. Yes there is a written pattern in my Etsy shop here: tinyurl.com/mrytpvhs Please let me know if you have any questions:)
Is it possible to do it the other way round? - hexagon into a circle.
Paula! That is a brilliant question and I will look into this. Stay tuned!
I have stitched round 5 six times and I keep getting 7 corners! I count and recount over and over again. I have 48 stitches in round 4 for sure. 8 complete stitches between my corners. What am I doing so wrong? 😔
Me, too! I can't figure out how I keep doing that when I feel like I followed the stitches exactly...
Really cool! Never heard of 5.75 mm hook.
I know. It's a super old hook I found from when I was a teenager. Not sure where you'd find these now. LOL
The Stitch Sessions - Crochet & Conversation I still have hooks from when I learned how to crochet. I only recently stopped using my 50+ year old 5 mm hook cause I had to switch to a more ergonomic one.
Well how impressive..l just made one.. thank you so much. I'm wondering if u have a tutorial on how to join them together. Im a newby to this. Thanks again 😊 Linda
Hi Linda! Yes, there is a blanket tutorial where I sew them together. You can check it out here: LITTLE LAMB BABY BLANKET ua-cam.com/video/Nmj-vpPEjzE/v-deo.html
Hey I left a like on your video 👍🏻😘
Thanks so much! Glad you like it:)
Is there a video of you putting the hexagons together?
Hi Bridget! Yes I put them together in a blanket project. Just click this link here: ua-cam.com/video/Nmj-vpPEjzE/v-deo.html
Enjoy!
Hi is there a tutorial on a half hexagon please to go ish my blanket
Hi Lynn! Yep there is a tutorial for the half hexagon. You can check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/zDIrw-awajo/v-deo.html
It's also part of a full blanket tutorial that you can find here: ua-cam.com/video/Nmj-vpPEjzE/v-deo.html
Have fun!
Love this video. I am creating a pattern using circles and playing with hexagons. Any suggestions on joining circles? If I use the hexagon am I joining the corner stitches?
Hi Mary! Joining at the corners to start is a good way to line up your motifs evenly. When you say circles, do you mean simple circles or circles that have been squared off? Usually there is some type of "squaring off" border to join motifs together.
@@TheStitchSessions I have a circle of 72 stitches, and I made a corner in every 12th stitch to make hexagons. Now when I join them the corner (dc,chain 2,dc) I'm wondering if I should just do a single crochet join in that chain 2 space or how to join at the corner?
@@maryellis6762 I created all my hexagons first and then once I laid them out in the fashion I was happy with, I whip stitched them together. Try and have a look at this blanket tutorial here on how I did mine. Maybe it might give you an idea. ua-cam.com/video/Nmj-vpPEjzE/v-deo.html
@@TheStitchSessions Thank you very much for your feedback and for the video. I will check it out.
@@maryellis6762 great! Hope it helps.
The 3rd round should not be 36 because 2nd round has 24 dc, 3rd round should be 48 sc since every stitch will have 2 sc. is my understanding correct?
Hi Rita!
In round 3 we are increasing in every OTHER stitch instead of every stitch. That is why you will have 36 stitches at the end of round 3 and not 48 stitches. So you would place two sc into one stitch but in the next st you would place only one sc. Then in the next st you would place two sc etc. So you would alternate your increases 2-1-2-1-2-1 etc. Hope that makes sense?
What do I do if I want the hexagon to be bigger?
Hi! If you would like your hexagon to be bigger you would continue repeating the last round as the increase in each corner will naturally expand your shape to a larger size. Hope that helps:)
Is there a tutorial for creating the blanket?
Hi Diana! You can find the tutorial for the full blanket here: ua-cam.com/video/Nmj-vpPEjzE/v-deo.html
It's called the LITTLE LAMB BABY BLANKET SS#96
Enjoy:)
Any chance you have a written pattern for this?
Hi Bridget! I have this one on my list. Just getting through a few other requested patterns and then I will get this one done as well. sit tight and I will let you know when it's ready;)
