:D Just a shame that there are no video's of their performances in little clubs... Way better... Vooruit, Democrazy...stagediving all night I have jumped 100s times in one night :D
Yeah man! It's real good to be able to see this! I do remember purchasing their first two albums back in the day as it were! Never got to actually see them...though! Excellent!
They toured with the Beastie Boys the year before and inspired the Beasties to pick up their instruments and record "Check your head" But while touring with the Beasties the UDS were also inspiring two concert attendees named Zach DeLaRocha and Tom Morello to start a band of their own: Rage against the machine.
ach man zoveel jaar geleden.ik zie mijzelf springen op 7,47..lange bos krullen.. UDS wat een show, hoe ver voor hun tijd..RAM, Downset, e.v.a..UDS was de pionier.. rap, metal, politiek gedreven shit..in mijn geheugen gegrift: Urban Dance Squad..de enige echte metal rapcrossover..toen ooit..live in 1990..
ratm remembers them, the squad is even thanked on the first cd of ratm. the squad was their biggest influence. zack de la rocha saw the squad playing live and it gave him the idea to start a band of himself.
This Pinkpop performance was way before RATM was even founded, in the year after this concert Tom Morello played as supportact before UDS in the States, a few days after he started RATM, he got the cross-over rock part right, but never equalled the groove, steaming funk, Carribean flavor and Vocal quality of UDS, left alone the meaning of the lyrics......
uds was a hard sell at the time because they were trying to look like something and that did not fly for me. authenticity ruled, so i was looking at bands like fugazi, bad religion and metallica(the black album ruined that for me the next year.). Now, however, i see that these were just talented kids dressing how they were told to get on with spreading their music. also, zach owes this dude an apology for biting his style.
fantastic band, this track is just like an hurricane and if someone has seen them live they know what I mean
"Hey Tom, this is your cousin Marvin, Marvin Morello...you know that new sound you were looking for? Well, listen to this!"
So true! Damn good movie reference. Props.
Joey Roller I actually never really got into Rage for that very reason. Plus UDS was just a lot more fun.
ahahhaha. absolutely true!!!!!!!
LOL! And same goes for one of the cousins of one of the Beastie Boys! They're on record too citing having been influenced by UDS.
Hell yeah! Spread the seed of peace. "Anger is a gift" (RATM)🙏
very underrated band worldwide
Mr b sir I saw them on a fair few tours as u did u guys in emf
one of the best bands ever existed and one of my favorites :)
These guys were live so good.....enjoyed it then, enjoy it now. Thanks for the good times!
True.... Same here. ✌🏻
Niet normaal.. UDS heeft er een fan tot ever bij.. Wat een show
Curti muito essa musica na época.RJ Brasil 2024.
I love how they let that random guy keep jumping around :)
:D Just a shame that there are no video's of their performances in little clubs... Way better... Vooruit, Democrazy...stagediving all night I have jumped 100s times in one night :D
Most probably one of the summers of love if my memory serves me correctly?! Excellent!
Soundtrack of my young years!
UDS forever
Pure R'n'R. Look how they left that crowd - absolutely knackered!
Phenomenal. This was the hype back in 1990.
Yeah man! It's real good to be able to see this! I do remember purchasing their first two albums back in the day as it were! Never got to actually see them...though! Excellent!

bullshit. BB always played their own instruments
Beastie Boys started as a Punkrock band so were no strangers to guitar & drums.
@@RavnerRavner On "Licensed to Ill" and "Paul's Boutique" they didn't. Those were samples from front to end.
Best crowd ever I loved UDS back in the day say a little prayer for my demo 🛒

A suggestion on a RATM video took me here...and I have to say this is great.
+Olivér Kiss These guys came first, sadly no one remembers them. :(
ratm remembers them, the squad is even thanked on the first cd of ratm.
the squad was their biggest influence.
zack de la rocha saw the squad playing live and it gave him the idea to start a band of himself.
Martijn Talma prior to that Zack was a vocalist for the hardcore punk group Inside Out,
This Pinkpop performance was way before RATM was even founded, in the year after this concert Tom Morello played as supportact before UDS in the States, a few days after he started RATM, he got the cross-over rock part right, but never equalled the groove, steaming funk, Carribean flavor and Vocal quality of UDS, left alone the meaning of the lyrics......
