- melee is a very finished game with no glitches
This one took about 15,000 rerecords. All of the invisible shines were ground out by yours truly, except for the first battlefield one (shoutout to Daladex for showing me it). More content to come, let me know in the comments if you have any request or questions.
If you like Fox TAS videos, be sure to check out "20XX X2", a stylish and creative 2v1 TAS I made: ua-cam.com/video/kh4_sHdW_HU/v-deo.html
I'm a simple SSBM enjoyer: i see a Fox TAS on my feed, I click
For a moment I thought Melee wasn't the most sick game in the world but then I watched this video and remembered it was
I never thought The Shining would get a sequel.
somewhere along the line there had to be at least one HAL employee who imagined something like this would happen in the future
another thought, a TAS explained video for this would be really funny. the voiceover would just be breathlessly trying to list the moves that are coming out as quickly as possible
Melee is the one game where human players feel EXACTLY like TASbots
4:40 invisible shine to JC grab?
incredible work on this
Quite mind-blowing, creative combos all over the TAS!!
The combo at 3:53 is one of the funniest things I've ever seen in Melee
Lol yea
FR, they must HATE Luigi.
Why do you hate luigi? :(
Poor Luigi got it the worst.😅
impressive tas. however...
Stale Moves -2000
Gameplay of the most tame Fox player.
nice reverse walljump or whatever you call that at 8 mins
Bro really f*cking hated Luigi
Haven't seen a good SSBM. TAS in while, a lot of the good melee TASers don't TAS anymore (gamerfreak, B&D games, Practical TAS) Anyways very nice job!
The scene's pretty dead right now unfortunately. Chunk0 has some high quality videos and has put out content within the last year, which is about as recent as it gets atm
Melee’s Very Hard AI: “Whatever game you’re playing, it won’t work. You can’t defeat me.”
Player: “I know… but he can.”
TAS Fox: **EMERGES**
Based
I thought people didnt make these anymore. A joy to see
lmao this is so sick
how this done? very good! 😅 0:02
Luigi got stuck in the box
Beatles thumbnail.
What are the inputs for that slide forward he does after peach?
Maximum walk value (X-191) for 2 frames, then neutral for 1 frame, then loop as needed.
ICG multishine at 3:54 is sincerely fucked, great great TAS
Just saw your comment on reddit that this is actually a spacie downthrow - mario brothers specific interaction, specific to this stage, which makes this sequence in particular even more incredible
plup does this too sometimes
lmao this was great
It would've been so funny if you ran up to one of the computers and have them smack you with a weak attack, and then kill them super quickly while they start at 0 percent.
But great video! It clearly took a lot of time and effort, I was so glad the jungle Japes glitch where Luigi got stuck was used.
Easily the coolest TAS i've ever seen. Would love to see a fox TAS "100 ways to shine combo" a-la squidthecat
You aint even had to do my mans luigi like that pimp. You aint even had to do him like that.
Super Smash Bros Melee be like:
Nice sassy TAS
Please do one with Bowser 🙏
Standard Crush gameplay 😂
8:08 This isn't a fight, it's a massacre.
oh hey you did the one jungle japes glitch on luigi there nice
What they do
@@skch.animationbasically, he threw luigi in a way that put the marker for stage collisions INSIDE the stage while keeping the character model (and thus, the hitboxes and stuff) *on* the stage. This traps Luigi in a weird voodoo box that can only be broken by throwing him again. Hope this made sense
I can hear the GameCube controller noises
That game and watch game was some john wick shit
how is damage from the van avoided? at 2:08
You get a few s when you throw someone, it’s used in a couple other places in this TAS (green greens and yoshi’s, I think)
@@smokedem ah, I thought that was just for knockback not for damage for some reason
GGs that was me
Super sick video!
5:33 A few pixels away from those hits maybe?
Less than 0.01 units, so sub-pixel :)
@@smokedem Ohhhh, 'cause I thought if you had the hammer, you couldn't take any knockback in this game. I haven't played it. 😭
@@KhahimOwens-Sipple-tc9jx Gotcha, it's a mechanic called "glancing blow" or colloquially "phantom hit". Does half damage and no knockback, and is incredibly precise. Melee is an awesome game, though it does take some getting used to. You should try it!
@@smokedem I know, thank you! 😭😭😭
PARKOUR!
One minute in and damn let's go this is sick
beautiful tas!!!
Sick TAS bro
Melee fox mains be like:
That's what all fox mains are like
How do you TAS something like this? The CPU reactions are completely random, so you can't predetermine what they're going to do.
It's not entirely random. True randomness would be computationally expensive, so for applications where true randomness isn't needed, seeded RNG calls are used instead. By knowing the list of RNG values used and the function applied to those values, you can perfectly predict what will happen in any given RNG call. Like what pokemon will come out of a pokeball, or what item or turnip Peach will pull, or, yes, what a CPU will do.
The other thing about seeded RNG is that as long as the inputs are consistent, the same outcome will happen every time. You can test this yourself by playing a one-stock match against a level 9 Ness CPU on Jungle Japes. If you perform no inputs, Ness will consistently self-destruct with the same sequence of inputs.
@@CyreniTheMage Yup, this comment sums it up perfectly! The reason you see me do run in -> wavedash back against the mario CPU with slight variations in timing (and a single shine for the delay) is to get him to pick up the hammer on the frame that makes the head fall off. Then since it's a TAS, the only result that ever gets seen is the one that worked.
I don't know about Melee specifically, but there's no such thing as true random in programming. If you can reload save states and set the seed value for the rng each time, the result is controllable.
Cheating at TAS by playing normally without any tools?! We all know this is just you playing the game how you always play melee.
4/10 my cousin did it with sonic and better
But this is 20XX
