What a gem. I had no idea I stubbled upon some Marc Andre clips… I’m in Juneau sizing up the towers every day from work and I think about him a lot. Peace be with you and Marc. Cherish those moments with him you had!
Hello Tom, you did a real helpfull video. Maybe you can help me. I have a smiliar amount of gear and I am wondering how you fit everything in a 45L backpack. Did you use two packs? Thank your for your answer and good luck for the next advtures.
Tom you said double bivi bag is that's a foil bag inside a gortex bivi bag. I've done that but that only worked for me with a foam mat And all my spare clothing on Cheers
I suppose this video does what the title suggests but if you want any explanation about what to take, how to choose it, how best to pack it and why you might leave certain things behind maybe want to keep looking. If you literally want to know what’s in some random guy’s rucksack then yeah.. Stay nonchalant man..
It's the ME Eclipse salopette. I don't think they're made any more, but you might be able to find them online. They're definitely the business, much better than regular base layer/leggings combo!
ME makes a tupilak in a 30+ model, is 35 around where it expands to? Debating between the 37 as it looks like it carries like a much smaller bag and seems compressible vs the 30 as it is not clear how much the + is in liters. thanks
Yes, each pack expands about an extra 5 litres. They all compress and expand pretty well... I guess the question is, 'how much do you want to carry?' I find the 37 to be the most versatile.
lots of questions but how much does the 37 compress? is it saggy when compressed (the gen 1 pata. ascensionist kinda sucks when compressed). if it compresses well I would love a higher range pack. im looking to do the cassin ridge with a "nap" at 17,000ft and my 20L is overstuffed to where its just a pain. Appreciate the feedback!
I think I had a 30L pack for the Cassin on Denali. Most of the time I use the 37 on multi-day routes, though. I think all lightweight alpine packs are either totally stuffed (whilst approaching) or only half full (when climbing)!

Marc-Andre filming..... RIP
With the crampons, do you not end up tearing your synthetic jacket to pieces?
Sam Ellis I tend to keep my feet away from my jacket! But yes, inevitably trousers will get ripped...
I reckon he meant inside the bag
@@tomlivingstone1154 stretchy!
I believed everything up to the training weights. I think that's why I am not a mountaineer
hahaha just died laughing at the crap you started pulling out at the end!! I take it you work for or are sponsored by ME and petzl..
When you do an overnighter with bivvy, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad can you still fit all that in the 45?
Literally mark Andre filming
Was that Marc filming? Sounds like him.
Yeah it is! RIP what a legend

Most backpacks go to 10; This one goes to eleven.
HAHAHAHA the stuff he casually took out at the end (beer is always a must though;)
Good stuff.

Your rucksack must be like the Tardis... or that wee bag on Hairy Potter.
Please tell me the breakdown of the number and size of climbing gear.
Yeah not very helpful with no gear spec(most of them)
your socks cracked me up... :D
foam roller is the BEATA!

Mountain Equipment Tupilak it is, super lightweight waterproof and pretty comfortable even if heavy loaded
sponsored by Cormac McCarthy?

It's a Mountain Equipment - Tupilak backpack?
Yes
I bet you need to buy a new jacket after every time you go out.
