If you’re trying to cut down on the drone/raspiness would you suggest a resonated test pipe or a hfc?
Juan Camacho I would either do the resonated test pipe or do a straight test pipe and make the exhaust the ets v3 regular which has 3” straight threw resonators on the ends. I have all straight pipe on my White and a 3” straighter threw resonator on mine (STM single side exhaust) and I love mine and don’t have a problem with drone and I drive highway everyday 👍🏼

I run the ETS Extreme, with the ETS test pipe. And it is soooo loud! I love it! Still stock downpipe but it's obnoxious as is lol.

AngelGaraa More videos on the way! Thanks for the compliment! That range id get some 1000cc injectors. That will be enough for that power range even with e85 and 1000cc and under are half the price then 1300cc and up. No need to go to big 👍🏼

Most of all, loving the mention of how the car will require a tune after this. I just fitted a "kakimoto racing true 3"" full system. Turbo back....
I felt bad for the awesome man who fitted my downpipe. (I'm in an apartment ATM so no garage- very frustrating and yes I suspect my neighbors now hate me!) it is LOUD AS F! I was wondering if I had perhaps gone too far.. then I figured nah it's good. Moments later a buddy of mine, ten years my junior pulls up and walks into my work- "bro that's cool as F!"

To the point though- he asked me to take it out so he could film some pulls from his car. I said no mate, it's not been mapped yet. I tried for an hour to explain this to him. Particularly with him being a mechanic, he insisted it "would be fine man why would it need a tune it's just an exhaust!" So to keep him happy I gave a little run. One at maybe 50% throttle then another at say 70% and I got an overev and immediately a fault code. It's off now but nonetheless. Glad there's still some people out there who understand! I was sent the wrong intake kit at the same time so I await the replacement and the BOV that goes with it before I take it to the rolling road. (Damn this has been an expensive journey!)
So my main question to you sir, is given that you have a lot of evo x's around you- do you have any idea why there is a fair amount more emissions from the left side (passenger side here- uk again) than there is from the right?
I have heard this is normal but I do have some small concerns as the intake cam and exhaust cam sprocket were also just changed along with a new timing chain. I can't imagine that is related but I digress... your evo x knowledge is most likely superior to mine.
Be interesting to have a chat bro, I was living stateside for 4 years and recently was over for a visit.
It's kinda interesting the things us petrolheads need to do / learn different names for when switching between USA/UK. I imagine it's the same for aussies and kiwis as well.
Example : ask a Scottish guy under the age of 60 to go fetch you a 1/4 inch spanner.... if he returns with it in less than 5 minutes you have a miracle 😂
Switch that around and have a jock ask an American mechanic over the age of 35 to go fetch a 10mm socket... problably see him scratching his head for a few minutes then eventually just compare the size lol.

Glad to hear people actually taking the time to properly get the car running correctly first after new parts instead of ignoring it and dangerously pushing the car. I would like to think the emissions from one side of the exhaust to the next would just be defined by the internals of the exhaust system possibly letting it flow more through one side and more filters on the other. I think your safe to trust the word of others in not a big deal. We’re lucky here specifically in Florida, US having no emissions required. Funny to hear the different terminology used around the world. I’d love to visit other countries To see the other car cultures in person. I have the same exhaust with a aftermarket DP but i put on the ETS v3 “quite” axle back when fall and winter starts so my neighbors dont hate me every morning lol the cold starts are brutal

Fonzie87 Thanks! From most any auto part store they sell specifically a actual “o2 sensor remover”. They are very cheap and great to have! So with the much greater air flow with the test pipe added I’d suggest a tune but day one the car with run fine. This car currently is about to get a turbo kit installed so we’ve waited on a tune and it’s been getting daily driven with no dash codes or drivability taken away

Hunter Bautista Dam Cali rules! Yea as I stated at the beginning of the video the car had just a downpipe when he got it which is the ams widemouth. Literally the only thing done to it. No tune or anything. As you can hear on the video with the stock exhaust you couldn’t even tell at all. Was a vacuum cleaner sound before, super super quiet but not anymore! 🤣

Is it normal to get a little bit of a pop sound at low load when you get off the gas in like 2nd or 3rd gear? My idle is kinda rich but my cruise afr and WOT afr are pretty solid.

Are any of these bolts ( down pipe/stock cat) welded? I'm starting to strip the ones from the down pipe. And the ones after the cat as well? Sprayed wd40, gave up for tonight, maybe Ill have better luck tomarrow. You make it look so easy man...lol thanks.
Haha they can be a pain to get off! Especially the older the Evo it is. Some come off easy and some I fight to get off. Good grip and Abrupt breaking motions help out. Also if you have an impact gun that makes jobs much easier
I bought the ETS V3 Exhaust off someone and it only came with one gasket and the v-band clamp. What sizing of the nuts and bolts do I need to install the exhaust? TIA

About time a video of a V3 version. I see way too many V2 versions out there. And honestly the V2 quiet exhaust I want. I don't want to go straight pipped. But, from reading on ETS's website, that the V3 doesn't need a tune, which is super rad, I think. So, I plan on going with a V3 anyways now. I've made my mind up long before, and after seeing that I don't need a tune, that's what I plan on going for, just need CASH! My, only problem is it impossible to have a conversation with a friend in the front seat, dont' want drone.
Dave Budness lol at conversations 🤣 Agreed definitely pretty loud! quieter then I expected inside the car though. Get a resonated testpipe or the regular version ets if you want the drone down. You’ll be happy with any of those combos 👍🏼
I dont mean to bust your bubble man, but there’s not tons of differences between the v2 and v3 exhaust systems from ets. I believe there’s different exhaust tips and maybe even different hangers, but that’s it.
Both the ets v2 extreme and v3 extreme exhaust systems are essentially a straight piped exhaust.
So if you were to just get the catback portion of an ets v2 extreme exhaust, you really wouldnt need a tune either.

Great video!! Did changing to the high flaw cat and exhaust require a re-tune?
This was a test pipe added and not a high flow cat. With excessive amounts of more air flow escaping you can experience over boosting which I have in the past. I would suggest getting a tune to get the most out of the add ons and make it run 100% but day one it’s not required and the car will drive without a major issue.
Good video my man but you have way too much faith in that jack. I know you have the jack stand under but it's not even making contact with the car, so if the jack fails you're banking on that jack stand catching the weight of the car abruptly falling on it. Would be much safer if you had jack stands holding the car up and just keep the jack under holding slight contact as an extra precaution.

hey man, 3 years later but i think for stock downpipe and ets test pipe its:
stock downpipe > that gasket you showed > ETS 3.0 to 2.5 gasket adapter > that gasket you showed again > test pipe
this is in the instructions in the ets website so

The ETS Adapter Flange for Evo X allows you to adapt 3" exhaust parts to the stock exhaust. Can be used for stock down pipe to ETS Test pipe OR stock catalytic converter to ETS cat back exhaust.

For this specific video I would have changed that but when he was pulling away he was “trying” to hold the 2step while he was rolling away but also releasing the clutch slowly lol. (Way to slow) It was burning the clutch bad and sounded horrible! 😣 THanks for enjoying minus that! 👍🏼
