KUALA LUMPUR MRT Tickets - HOW TO BUY Tickets & Ride the Kuala Lumpur Metro Train

- We are in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and are taking you for a ride on the Kuala Lumpur MRT (the Kuala Lumpur Metro Train, the Kuala Lumpur Underground or Kuala Lumpur Subway). The Kuala Lumpur MRT is a new and modern Metro Train connecting the city together. In this video we show you how to buy tickets (Tokens) for the Kuala Lumpur MRT (Metro Train) from the Automatic Ticket Machines and How to use the Tokens for the MRT Metro Train. We also take you along on the ride so that you can see what the Kuala Lumpur Metro Stations look like and what the Kuala Lumpur Metro Trains look like inside. When we arrive at our destination we also show you how you must use your Kuala Lumpur MRT Metro Token to exit the Metro Station. It is very important that you keep your MRT Metro Train Token as you can only exit the MRT Station with it!
Do not be confused by the Kuala Lumpur MRT Line and Kuala Lumpur LRT Line. MRT stands for Mass Rapid Transit and is similar to the LRT but has longer trains with more capacity for passengers. LRT stands for Light Rapid Transit and the Kuala Lumpur Monorail belongs to this public Transport category which is normally used for short distances within the city area. There is also the BRT which stands for Bus Rapid Transit, where the train is replaced by a bus for lower capacity places.
During our travels in Kuala Lumpur we always use the Kuala Lumpur MRT Metro Train. This Metro Train System makes getting around easy, cheap and the MRT Stations as well as the MRT Trains are always spotless and well maintained a pleasure to use this public transport system. We hope that this video showing you how to buy tickets for the Kuala Lumpur Metro Train (MRT) and showing you how to ride the train will make you travels around Kuala Lumpur fast, easy and enjoyable. The MRT Metro Train is Kuala Lumpur´s Metro Train, Subway (as it´s called in New York) or Underground (as it is called in London).

Hi John we do not travel 24/7. Currently we are in Malaysia. We both have full time jobs in Denmark where we are lucky to have 6 weeks holiday a year! So the fare system seems to resemble many others around the world in that you have to retain your token/farecard until the completion of your trip. That's how it is in Washington DC. Thanks for showing off MRT

MRT is my favorite public transport in KL rite now, very efficient n train arrives every 2,3 minutes

Hi Maxi and Maro, thank you for this video! For viewers wondering, this video is still applicable, I just followed it exactly in Dec 2023.
I liked how you actually walked through the entire process and didn't skip portions, because other videos jump from place to place, but having a look at a full walk-through helped me familiarise myself with the process before taking the MRT.
I do wish the MRT will just say one-time ticket, instead of token which can be confusing to native English users, and more so for non-native English users.
It been long time since i ride MRT…. I miss going out😭. This lockdown is endless

Hi there, for your information, children under seven years old travel on the Malaysia rail transportation such as MRT, LRT, Monorail are free. For commuter train service, any children aged 2 - 6 years travel is free.

Due to the land limitation, the Bukit Bintang station is on top of each other rather than side by side like most other stations.
The funny part is the English announcement : "Exit the right door" therefore ppl may ask is there a wrong door too ?
But rather they should say "Exit the door on the right side" ..

The gantry is the one that is unique.Most of the worlds subway uses like a tourist ticket or one-time card but in KL they use a "coin" to tap when going in and slot in when going out.Also,all my friends told me that the KL metro is dirty and unclean but its the direct opposite. Keep it up KL metro!

I had been in Copenhagen 1993 and 1995 for Industrial training. Denmark have very efficient train/ transport and integrated ticketing system. I miss kobenvhan and Kolding.

Amazing! I thought the public transportation system in KL is horrible. Maybe it was the LRT that never show up on time.
its bad and good at same time, say you late 5 minutes. atleast it doesnt come yet. if it arrives on time you'll be left behind.

How do you guys wear shorts and shirts in mrt because when I wear like that I freeze to death XD
HaHa, coming from Scandinavia to Malaysia any temperature is warm for us! :-D Maro does bring a scarf with her which she puts on her shoulders if it gets cold. You are right it does get cold sometimes. Thanks for watching our video, have a lovely weekend! :-D
