She knew Kurt's inner most thoughts, his ways, his deep dark secrets, etc. so people will hate her until the end of time because they never got that close to him, never knew him in that way. So tell me, how did Courtney get what she wanted? She lost Frances' father and her husband. It wasn't about the money, it's about any other woman in the world who lives that type of lifestyle and looses their spouse to suicide. Just because Courtney is a musician, it doesn't make her immune to pain. I love her, and always will! Kurt wanted a strong woman, and he got one.

She was super panicked about losing Kurts money, she said it herself in the recordings, that "money isn't a problem - well it will be if we get a divorce".. And she pushed Kurt hard to perform shows he didn't want to do because of the huge payouts he would get. You can love Courtney but don't pretend she didn't care about Kurts money and the fame he brought to her. She wanted to be rich and famous under any circumstances. It was more important to her than anything else

Just my two cents (since the majority of the comments are referencing the murder theory and Soaked in Bleach):
    - Kurt Cobain was going to DIVORCE Courtney Love. Fact.
    - Kurt Cobain was in the process of removing Courtney Love from his will. Fact.
    - Courtney Love filed the Missing Person Report pretending to be Wendy Cobain, citing "suicidal tendencies". Fact.
Soaked in Bleach is definitely biased, but the recordings are UNMISTAKABLE.
Did Courtney Love kill Kurt Cobain? I don't know.
But the whole story is fishy, that's for sure.
    Very, VERY fishy.

    • @winterlynn9012
      @winterlynn9012 6 років тому +27

Alex Raven Because all those things came from Courtneys mouth herself..Both her and Rosemary said he was looking into divorce. Rosemary mentioned the removal of Courtney from the will. And that Courtney filed the missing persons report and not Kurts mom. Most if not all of those things are on record coming directly from CL and Rosemary mouths on recording. It's all pretty damn suspicious considering Courtney told the media completely different stories

@Rico Williams I know it's pretty sad to say so, but depression is a disease that kills people. Believe me, if you were lucky enough you never saw someone with a very severe case of depression. I had many toxic relationship with people that I wanted to "save", it was very hard to break with them and in the first case probably it would have been better if he just died. After 8 years he's still miserable, stuck in this tar pit. I feel for Courtney, because I feel everything she did, she did it to save both. I really don't know how to explain my point of view, I hope you were able to pinpoint it...

I was back to work one week after my husbands death because you need something. If you lay down and give in you may stop breathing and die. I cried every day, but I worked. People said go home but why what was at home besides my empty house with my husband not in it? Anyway after experiencing it I stopped buying into the Courtney conspiracy because she seems innocent to me, she truly loved him and that's clear. I was also accused of killing my husband after his suicide. Society stigmatizes the widows of suicides. It's rude and quite horrendous the things people have said to me and even more so to her.

She planned this till day one to have him murdered. Go watch 'soaked in bleach 2014' it's on youtube the Investigator she hired was Tom Grant and that was her biggest mistake because he said this was not suicide but murder. No way someone can inject 3 times the amount of heroin in there body and then pick pack away everything nicely then pick up the 20 gauge shot gun and blast themselves it's not possible, again sorry for your loss but not everyone has a story like you.

Courtney and Frances had personal relationships with Kurt, fans and haters did not. Courtney shared his bed, thoughts in his head, they were beyond close, in love, treated each other well. Kurt loved her. Loved her! They had a child together out of love. It's so easy for people to hate on a woman who's only crime was loving a suicidal addict, when their hero did this to himself. Courtney is beautiful here. Even though this is many years ago, she's still beautiful and part of her DNA and Kurts runs through Frances' veins.

The people condemning her here are only looking at this from the perspective that she's a gold digger, which isn't fair. Cobain wasn't the multi-millionaire that he became when she met him in 1991. He was famous, but not at the level he was after In Utero, and she was "indie famous" at the time with the underground scene in her own right. People act like she was this nobody street hooker who he picked up on the corner, but it's just not the case. She had had a band for three years before she met him, had a record deal, and had collaborated with Kim Gordon for Christ's sake.
If you put yourself in her shoes, it makes sense that she wants to idealize herself as the "bread winner" and go back to working for herself, because otherwise she'd be falling into the prototypical tattered widow role, which was something she was defiant against. It doesn't mean she wasn't still mourning him or that she didn't love him, but that she didn't want to be forever identified as a subordinate grieving widow who was freeloading off her dead husband's fortune. You can tell by the way she's talking that she wants to distance herself from that at all costs, but unfortunately the public would never allow it, and she was branded that from the day he died forward.

    • @sovmod7863
      @sovmod7863 8 років тому +20

+deadbird1229 At last, a sane person who knows what they're talking about. One observation simply -- they met around the time "Bleach" was out and they were all part of the northwest underground, all influenced by Pixies and Sonic Youth whereas Courtney (a) also drew a lot of influences from british post-punk (she had lived in the UK around the time new wave/ proto-goth got big) and (b) Hole was already making a stand of its own as part of the 'wild bunch' of female rockers of the time and place. She and Kat and Jennifer Finch had been working it out since '85 and in '87 she had her first two indie film roles. Cobain, up until "Bleach" was struggling to provide an identity to the band (it has been stated on record that the sound of Bleach was forged on pure contractual reasons). Whereas Novoselic was clearly the 'body politic' in Nirvana, Courtney was the spokesman and mental force in her band in 90-91. Pretty on the inside, already produced by Kim Gordon before Nevermind was released, is a stunning declaration of purpose and a huge "coming clean" with the past. And what resonated with the northpacific underground (at least, well in the beginning it was limited in that vicinity) was the alienation and detachment of contemporary youth against their parents and corporate mainstream ethos of the reaganite/bush sr. capitalism. Sadly, whereas things broke big after 91-92, they also went to a darker direction, with heroin and all the death toll. There was never any "grunge", it was rock's last genuine rebel yell and it faded int an anechoic chamber out of which came illiterate dudebro apes with badly tuned guitars and aweful snare drums, legit corporate scumbag whimps and mainstream pop idols through reality (freak)shows.
Whereas Girlschool and the Runaways proved females could play the "rock machismo" with bravado and style, and Patti Smith reconciled 60s intellect with post-hippie-"kind of bohemian"-antifashion rocknrollism, Courtney Love is the timeless symbol of frenetic sensuality, alpha female leadership and a tormented yet unmistaken (and unsurpassed) genius of libertarian, feminist (dare it be said), self-aware artist. She came from hell to hope then down into hell and back into limelight, then down in third hell and back again.
She is as undefeated as her talented and charisma is unmatched.
All the witch-trial liars and ape-children "look good for their age" but guess what - she will always look and be better.

Suicide frightens people. I doesn't makes sense...this beautiful succesful man. So they tend, grasp for an easy solution. Must have been her.
As if anything in life would be that plain and simple. Especially for a complex as well as complicated person as Kurt.
In some way it is even disrespectful to Kurt because it implies that he was passiv enough to get dominated and missdirected by her.
Anyone who knows a moody/driven/melancholic person like Kurt can try to change that person just a little bit. It costs you every lit bit of your energy and even then you will most likely fail. So thinking she should have just done more is not doing anyone justice. Clearly she has her hands full doing with her own shit and than the child.
A more stable person would have helped him....yeah, probably. But then again a more stable/rational/sane person would not have been interesting for him at all...

+Stacey Ellis She probably inherited more than $9 million, but I don't find that a weird statement at all. By work, she means HER work and earning "her" money separate from Kurt's. Obviously she's lived a high lifestyle due to his fortune over the past 20 years, but she's also said many times that she feels like the Nirvana money is "cursed" and that she'd rather spend the money she's making. While she never made as much money with Hole as Nirvana did, it wasn't like she wasn't rich on her own with that band-they were doing well as an underground band before she met Cobain, and LTT was obviously successful, as was Celebrity Skin, which received Grammy nominations; not to mention her work in movies. My point is, she was famous, and she was making money of her own as well. It's not like Kurt was her sole source of income.

Everyone tends to want to blame Courtney. But after listening to an interview Kurt had prior to his demise and reading the suicide note my conclusion is Kurt had mental illness and the drugs pushed him over the edge to do what he did. It's a tragedy but you can't hold someone's hand if suicide is on their mind you have to know drugs enhance these thoughts. His suicide letter screams bipolar. One minute he hates people next he loves everyone. He compared himself to Freddie mercury but mercury had a higher hill to climb with acceptence of being bisexual. It's all sad in the end.

They were also saying Kurt may have been seeing someone else there toward the end and Courtney was jealous as fuck doing crazy shit to find out who it was. Here is a true fact for you. Kurt Cobain thought Kristen Pfaff, Courtneys ex bass player was gorgeous, he thought she was so beautiful and he said that he couldnt tell her that because if Courtney found out he thought Kristen was beautiful there would be hell to pay. On April 1st 1994 Kurt bought 2 plane tickets, one for himself and to this day nobody knows who the other ticket was for. When Kristens mother Janet received Kristens belongings after her death there were pages ripped out of her diary, the pages that were ripped out were ones she had written in the week Kurt was missing. Kristen and Kurt both constantly argued with Courtney in the end. there have been people come forward and say that Kurt and Courtney would scream at each other over the phone, it was pretty bad. I think Kurt and Kristen were attracted to each other, I don't know if they were having an affair but it just seems way to coincidental that they both died upon leaving Courtney Love. the people that believe Kurt committed suicide should really research all the facts, the timeline and evidence around his death. its nuts.

Some things I would like to point out if you truly still believe he killed himself:
    1) The shotgun was clean and there were no fingerprints, EXCEPT where his hands were. Who the hell has a shotgun that has NO fingerprints on it from regularly holding and moving it around?
    2) He had too much heroin to hold a shot gun- 11x the most seasoned heroin addicts lethal dose. INJECTED mind you, would have instantly been unconscious.
    3) The casing of the bullet was on the opposite side of where the releasing chamber would have been, making it virtually impossible to have been in the position he was supposedly found with the gun.
    4) Courtney had PRACTICE letters with kurts handwriting where she was writing all the letters in the alphabet repeatedly found in her backpack. Coincidence? Absolutely not. Who does that for fun?
    5) Courtney Love hired a hitman a couple days before his death, he declined her offer of 50k, but when he came out with the info, he passed a lie detector test with flying colors and was “ran over by a train” dead two days after going public.
    6) Kurt called their attorney asking that Courtney be taken out of the will immediately, furthermore, Courtney called their attorney as well asking if there’s anyway to bypass their prenup.
    7) this isn’t as compelling because you never know, but everyone who knew him closely INSISTED that he would have never killed himself, that he wasn’t the type of person to kill himself, and that he had been at lower lows before.
    8) their “friend” nicknamed Cali, was proven to have been in the main house around the time Kurt would have “killed himself”. With that being said, have you seen this shotgun? If someone was in the house sleeping or not they would have heard that in the greenhouse undoubtedly.
    9) the suicide note. If you look at the note, the main body looks to simply be a note to fans about his loss for love of music and feeling like a pos for it. It was titled “boddah” which was his imaginary friend growing up. In my humble opinion, the body of the note was a vented letter to express frustration for the loss of love of his music, that may or may not have actually been released. The bottom part of the note was clearly different than the main body, leaving my suspicions to be that whoever forged the suicide letter looked through his letters, journals, writings, (he did a lot), found one that looked depressing enough, and added to it to make it appear suicidal. The bottom part of the letter has one ‘k’ in it. He had a very distinctive way of spelling his ‘k’ and that was not lined up with the way he did it. That’s just one example of many with that note, but my pure speculation.
    10) Courtney was becoming desperate, knew he was leaving, and needed a plan of action and fast. Point blank. She knew det. Cameron, she knew the autopsy professional, she knew a lot of the key players in this case and most likely paid hush money.

If you were planning to die why clean up at all? And then also have time to shoot yourself with a shotgun? Makes zero sense. If he shot those drugs up himself he would have been found dead with the needle in his arm because it would have put him into cardiac arrest almost immediately. If Courtney didn’t kill him or hire someone to do so then someone else had a motive to kill Kurt because he most certainly didn’t kill himself

Having a heart as fragile as his needs someone that understands and willing to stand by him through every pain and misery he feels and facing inside. “I’m not psychic but my lyrics are.” Wow. I’m beginning to think you’re much more than psychic… Your husband just committed suicide, how are you promoting yourself at this time?? “Live Through This” is one of my favorite albums ever so this is going to be hard saying this but I’m beginning to really wonder about her involvement in Kurt’s death. I always defended Courtney until recently things just don’t add up. Maybe I just wasn’t paying close enough attention before. Every time I see an interview after Kurt’s death, she seems to be acting/fake crying when she talks about him. I think she has a personality disorder and targeted Kurt from the beginning. They are a classic empath/narcissist couple. The narcissist always destroys the empath in the end. I really hope I’m wrong about this but the more I see, the more I’m convinced. RIP Kurt🥀💫

I have went through alot of these archived YT videos over the last week in response to the Hbo documentary. It is such and incredible story. I look back on that period and how hugely profound this was. Noone could have been prepared for the huge overnight celebrity The art is truly a game changer. Kurt launches off of his anger found in youth. As he steps forward and seeks security through his first girlfriend....and then the band....and then Courtney...he starts to bloom. The crossover point of a happy person who has a baby and a new wife is to embrace them and transfer the energy. He got lost. Instead of releasing himself from his anger ....which made his celebrity and art so pure....he became conflicted. He did not feel worthy of happiness. In fact he punished that part in him for even considering happiness. It is a common reaction for someone who is self abusive.
Maturity allows us to release the past and live for the moment and future. Courtney is a symbol of that conflict within all of us. He had the opposite reaction...fear of happiness. He doubled down on heroine and resulting depression. Courtneys attempts at sobriety intervention in my mind is a recognition by Kurt that she was right. Ultimately he did not accept himself....he rejected his drug use and his youth that drove his anger. His escape however was not to go through painful rehab. On a basic level from his childhood... He felt unloved...kicked around...and he hated that person inside of him. We all experience this transformation...without drugs to magnify the fear of growing up and letting go of the past.
His reaction was to take control and bury the past. He killed that person. At the expense to humanity and what he was about to give humanity in the future. His underlying anger and pain was so profound that it consumed him, but also powered his celebrity. And this is the ultimate conflict.
His art lives on forever as the most profound form of pure rock and roll ever constructed. It is a sad sad sad ending. He killed the beast within. He felt naked and exposed with the potential of going through life clean and sober. This is a message in a way to all of us. Allow yourself love and happiness and allow the past to grow old. Rock and Roll legends dont realize how important they are. We connect with their emotions through their art. I will always wonder.

She is not a saint, that's clear, she had some guilt in Cobain's mental downfall and hard drug use, that's true, but now everyone claims that she is an assasin. "Kurt & Courtney" and "Soaked in Bleach" did the job very well, specially the last one, cause is more "serious" documentary and more believable to people who always was suspicious and always hate her from the begininng. "Kurt & Courtney" was crap, and i know people who believe that he was murdered and said it so. That doc was bullshit, so, they had to do more serious job and came with "Soaked... which was delayed in its release to match with "Montage of Heck", which is not very good.

Trust the people who lived it and stop relying on the hype that she's to blame. It's so sad to read all the hate and unproven 'truths' that people continue refer to in order to perpetuate this shaming of Courtney. She may not be innocent when it comes to their issues but she lost her husband in a very tragic way and we will never know what it was truly like between them.

10.) The Seattle medical examiner, Dr Nikola Hartshorne (Dr NH) is a friend of CL from before he was a doctor. He had promoted Courtney's first husband, James Moreland's, band in the '80's. So no surprise when he rules for CL's version of events, as a suicide.
11.) Dr NH is also the ME for the death of CL's bassist, Kristen Pfaff (KP) who was killed just weeks after the murder of KC, and after being given heroin by another Hole band member, Erick Erlandson (EE). CL was very jealous over KC and KP's new relationship.
12.) EE is at KC's house the day he died after CL asked him to go to the house to look for her husband.
13.) Three months after KC was murdered, and just weeks after KP was killed, Dr NH, who by all accounts was rising up the ladder at work, leaves to live in Florida. His Seattle coworkers are all surprised.
14.) Three months after KC was murdered, DT, of the SPD, is murdered by two guys who set him up to be killed by pretending to have a flat tire.
15.) Lead on the KC case, Detective Cameron (DC), and the boss of DT, is fired three years after the murder of KC for bribery and corruption. He had been with SPD for 39 years.
16.) No fingerprints on the shotgun or shells.
So, I think CL had EE give KC a mickey in his root beer (the Valium found in KC's blood) and then have him give a massive dose of heroin when KC was already passed out. EE then leaves and Allen Wrench comes in alone, instructed by CL, to get the shotgun she knew KC had purchased with his buddy Dylan Carlson, and to use it on KC. Dylan admits he told CL about the shotgun prior. Then CL has EE give her rival, KP, an OD of heroin. EE is the only person to be seen entering her residence that night. He left 30 minutes later. So then CL hires some thugs to pretend a flat tire on the route of off duty DT and have him killed. Dead men tell no tales. In 2002 Dr NH dies. In 2022 CL settles out of court with her son in-law, Isaiah Silva, for his kidnapping and attempted murder.

Quite the contrary. Narcissists hate themselves. Narcissism is self-obsession on a basis of complete infatuation with your every flaw and shortcoming. Narcissists may compensate for this self-loathing by projecting a facade of self-love. Really, narcissism is simply self-obsession. That obsession is rarely about what you possess, and more often about that which you lack.

The way it was presented here definitely makes Courtney look bad. too bad no one else recorded that version I would love to see it.

+Knucklehead Wow did you think this through yourself or did you hire a private investigator to guide you through the motions? Oh wait some hired help made some covert (wouldnt want to get any nasty trouble in court now, would we?) comments in some fourth-rate documentary that no sane person takes seriously, and all of sudden, after 20 years, the truth that all involved close people, bandmembers, wfe, lawyers managements and friend ignored, is revealed?
With such enlightment, I might hire you to provide me with lottery predictions.
UA-cam sometimes beats the hell out of blabbermouth - and THAT is a very strong statement.

+SovMod - Thank you for your response. My comment summarizes several factors that have come to light over the years since Kurt Cobain died. Not only this "rock-umentary." Including info in different interviews of CL in person herself - her own contradictions, attitudes, and behaviors in other rock relationships before and since KC's death. People close to a tragic situation - like band members & family members in this case - are too close to the situation and in their shock and grief and do not see "the forest for the trees". CL had manipulated the media into thinking "suicide" in a campaign long before the man's death. He was cured of a long standing abdominal illness, he was asking his lawyer to file for divorce (and so was she), he had not signed his will, and he devotedly loved his daughter....these facts do not add up to suicide and furthermore some of these are not facts most people close to him would have known. The crime scene investigation was a farce - the most knowledgeable forensic scientists is the field - in fact the doctor who wrote the book on crime scene investigation - have weighed in on how inappropriately the entire matter was handled. Her comment in this "interview" where Kurt Loder asks her - "How can you get on with your career right now following the loss of your husband?" She answers - "Well this is what I do....etc." - Bet you dollars to donuts the Last Will and Testament was in Probate - that takes quite a long time to finalize - and also the Will was in question since it was not signed by the deceased - and Courtney being practical knew that she needed money until that was done. Of course I am only guessing. But it is a pretty good guess. To quote Proverbs - "The guilty flee when none pursue..." - she has gotten away with murder for hire - and she threatens anyone who challenges or opposed her in any way on any subject with law suits and worse - physical harm. Look at the journalist who was writing about them - she left town when she was threatened. When lawyers won't support her in this she instructs her assistants to fabricate letters from lawyers - as in the case of her former assistant who refused and who countersued and took a settlement off of CL. CL had the murder scene - the entire garage - demolished. Is this the same woman who sat with mourners and gave them personal objects of the lost artist? Her current comment, "More people visit here than the Space Needle (in Seattle)" - you would think she would appreciate the fans continued support - not disdain their presence. Where is her sincerity now? Just as Kurt Cobain was polite, intelligent, and thoughtful in his interviews - She is calculating and manipulative of information and hostile. These are basic character traits shining through. If you want to see one of the Queens of Queen - Look at Tina Turner live in concert. CLove on her best day WISHES she had the talent that Tina Turner - a LADY - has in her pinky finger. But she is very clever and has put herself amongst the best of the best on that list. If outright crass behavior and blind ambition is what gets you there - as well as lack of talent - CL should be number one.
