That's crazy.. You can see the exact seam of coal that was extracted.. Can you imagine those poor fellas in there with candles and picks and shovels and old wheelbarrows (probably steel wheels) hacking and breathing that dust in virtual darkness? Did what you had do back in the day. We got it so easy man.. You guys are stepping up your game... Great stuff...

Hey. Take it from an old coal miner, I worked the low coal seams in Harlan County Kentucky, 26 inch seams of coal setting Jack's behind the old Wilcox Miner's,

As a miner, and specifically a scaler, that slab you walked under is a death trap. No support or roof bolts, and definitely separated.

I've heard you guys mention the tree roots more than once in caves & mines, believing you're near the surface. Don't let them fool you. Some roots can find their way through the cracks DEEP into cave systems.

That's some sketchy rock sheet hanging overhead in some spots.

Wow that was extensive! Can you imagine belly crawling with a pickaxe for weeks just to get the coal out of that narrow seam? Would have been a rough way to make a living.

Its coal too experience but old mines aren't the place to be exploring, especially without the proper gas detectors. Black damp is no joke. Also being under unsupported roof. Awesome video but be safe please.

Black damp is nothing to mess with, it's never safe to go into an old coal mine.

Growing up in coal country our mountains are littered with coal mines ranging from 10 years old to probably 200 years old. It was just beat into our brains from an early age that you do NOT go Into an old mine lol. I’m not calling these guys stupid, they are obviously professionals on some level but it just sends my anxiety through the roof watching them crawl under that bad top. Stay safe guys, love the channel.

Not sure how I’ve come across your channel, but I’m glad I have. The kid in me wants to know what’s around the next bend, and corner. The older adult in me is like “When this mine was in its hay day, what was going through the minds of those that worked it?”

I have to say that even though I know you both are safe I was really scared for you crawling under that slab. Your channel is addicting even though my anxiety is through the roof the whole time.
