I've always loved cartography and anything city and transportation related, but after being required to take a GIS class in college for Architecture, I would not like having to make maps using that software.
Hey, a very in-depth and great feature. I have played CS from the start, and still find it fun into its second inception. However, human psychology is usually missed in planning. It's the small scale that's usually overlooked. I'm lucky enough to have some wonderful foot/cycle paths (that used to be railway lines 1800s) close to me. They are peaceful with birdsong and have a creek with swans and ducks along the way. Without such beautiful interaction, I assure you life begins to become meaningless. There are also some really shitty areas in my town (from the 70s 80s) that probably look great on a map. Please incorporate living into planning, I can see you mean well.
I totally agree. My personal belief is that for an individual's life, community is more important than government. Government can provide important things like healthcare, education, roads, and other city services. However the interaction we get with community is what drives us to live. I'm not sure if you've ever heard the term 3rd spaces, They are informal, communal areas where people gather for social interaction, relaxation, and community building. They're important because they provide social connections, work-life balance, personal growth and learning, creative inspiration, a sense of belonging, an escape from the first two spaces, relaxation and promote better mental health. For individuals, these spaces offer a versatile refuge that supports various aspects of their personal, social, and emotional life.
I go on to show examples in the video. Thanks for the feedback. I can do some videos just in ARC GIS pro. But I imagine that would be pretty boring 🤷♂️
I just started GIS classes this fall. It’s hard but fun at the same time. Glad to see the GIS approach to Cities Skylines.

It's definitely an acquired taste haha I personally love it!

Typo... My bad
@@DreamScraper mmm spellcheck, but hey no one seems to give a poop nowadays . I think at some point AI may annihilate instead of assimilate lol 🍄
Awesome video!
Love the video! Hope there is more GIS focused content on the horizon to check out more on your channel :) /GIS+CS enthusiast ^^
Absolutely!
Just discovered your channel recently, I've been watching wayy to much of it. Also the Discord link in your bio is invalid
Thanks for watching! The Discord isn't really active, but here is a link discord.gg/gTEEYAZb
This is much too theoretical.
Would be more engaging with real life examples of GIS maps, what they display and how is it used by decision makers.
