One of the OGs. Able's got a few cool additional stories to him; his cross test with 682, his time as part of the controversial MTF Omega-Seven, and if I recall correctly he had a fun little rivalry with one Security Agent who personally managed to kill him several times, then one time Able emerged and the agent wasnt there because he's been killed in some attack by another organisation, and Able just willingly went back into containment because there wasnt any point if he wouldnt get the chance to fight his rival or something (might be misremembering some of the details there)
DJKaktus has also expanded their lore a lot in his lost history/house of Apollyon cannon.
Wasn't there also some Stories about him and the Girl that has paranormal Power to interact with Things on Pictures she took?

I like Volgun for immersion, but personally i like the Exploring Series video on 073 and 076 more. He goes over both SCPs, the story the two are based on, compares the two versions, and discusses other places where they show up in other SCPs. I recommend giving it a watch
16:25 - I did not know I'd be explaining a really good joke from chat today, but "Cain brought potato salad to the barbecue" slaps as an explanation. Abel gave of his flock, sacrificing animals. Cain gave of his crops, sacrificing plants. God didn't value Cain's gift as much, Cain got jealous, killed Abel. Cain was marked by God to so that no one would harm him and cursed to wander.
Yeah, some of the sequels and DLCs get weird but old Vanilla World of YHVH lore slaps.

Also worth nothing that God didn't actually curse Cain with immortality; it's more like he was cursed to live out his life with the mark placed on him being a warning that any who killed him would be cursed in turn seven-fold if they were to kill him for what he did to Abel.

Worth noting that God didn't value Cain's offering less because it was plants but because while Abel gave of the best of his flock Cain did not give the best of his harvest. Cain got jealous of Abel receiving God's favor despite not giving as sincerely as Abel and killed him for it.

The story of SCP-076 isn't really complete without talking about MTF Omega-7, which was briefly mentioned. The Foundation tried to weaponize Able. Able lives for fighting and killing strong enemies. The Foundation thought they could let him lead a team against other dangerous anomalies, giving them a powerful asset while convincing him not to kill so many agents. Able agreed.
The problem is that they couldn't give him enough missions to keep him occupied. What do you think the perfect killing machine does when he gets bored?

After Adam and Eve get kicked out of the garden due to some shenanigans (curtesy of Satan) they get busy having kids. First kid Cain. Second kid Abel. Abel is like the most humble and pious kid ever causing God to show favor to him and Cain gets super jealous. So jealous he ends up committing the first murder, by smashing Abel's head in with a rock. Cain becomes scared of divine vengeance and runs as far and as fast as he can and ends up having his own family from which an entire kingdom springs up. A kingdom that gets wiped out in the great flood a couple centuries later, but that's another story.
Unironic question, how did he get kids if all humans are descendants of Adam and eve and eve was the only woman on earth. Since he left his family I assume he didn't go the inc**t route, so....
That story is way older than the Bible or Christianity. It was in the Torah (which is included in the Bible). She said before that she was raised a Sunni Muslim, and basically the same thing is told in Quran (look: Quran 5:27-31), all Abrahamic religions believe in Adam and Eve, and Cain and Abel.
I have no idea how she doesn't know that story.

IIRC Able was written as a spoof on all the people who would try to submit their SCP of "This guy is just super uper powerful and has to have everything in the world set against it just to keep it in the room and can't be killed (etc, etc)" so one of the main writers just wrote this entry just to take the piss.

A fun Abel cameo in another article: I don't know if you've covered SCP 5000 by now (the one about a world where the Foundation goes insane and sets out to exterminate mankind), but one of the events involves the Global Occult Coalition's floating fortress-city Ganzir getting besieged by the Foundation. Among the most dangerous things attacking Ganzir are multiple macro-scale reality warpers...and one of the GOC's countermeasures is _firing Abel out of a cannon_ at them. And Abel _keeps going back_ so they can do it again.

The Quaran is actually also an Abrahamic religious book so Cain and Able are both in it and the story is virtually the same with a few tweeks.
It blew my mind when I 1st learned that both Islam and Christianity have the same man as their messiah.
And that some of the bible stories, or at least versions of them, predate Christianity by at-least 900 years.
Looking back on it, our RE teacher was probably a lot more interesting than most.

If they really wanted to contain him they would would put SCP-076-1 on the moon. Just have the whole thing open to the vacuum of space several miles out from the SCP base. Done.
SCP's, by their very nature, seem to not like being contained with such simple and seemingly fullproof solutions. It's best to keep them close and defended in case of an attack from other groups or in case the SCP simply adapts. For instance, I believe there is an extermination attempt where 096 was sent into the Sun. Shortly afterward, the Sun was observed to be moving closer to Earth.
Good luck trying to get it to the moon. It's presumably **quite** heavy, and also Abel could wake up before or while they load it on the rocket

Likely out of colloquial habit, unless you're a linguist most people don't care about subtle nuances of speech because they understand what the person was trying to get across either way.
@@Niapt there was no "degrees" in the SCP and Kelvin is an absolute scale, that's why you don't say "degrees Kelvin", degrees would imply that it's a relative scale which can have both positive and negative values, which is not the case with Kelvin
so he just added it for no reason, also he's playing a role of a researcher, so saying "degrees" breaks immersion

Now that you've done 4999, my next recommendation is 'SCP-963: Doctor Bright', immediately followed by 'the List of Things Doctor Bright Isn't Allowed to Do at the Foundation.'
Alicia should watch Exploring Series's Lord Blackwood and the Great Tarrasque Hunt, among other Lord Blackwood related things. That tale features 682, 076, and Theodore Roosevelt. It's pretty much audio only and a straight read, so there might be a better way to watch it, but I still think it's a lot of fun.
1st time hearing of this SCP ; i loved the read on this- But this!- has got me RARING to recommend Hellsing Abridged by TeamFourStar!
Alicia, if you ever want one of the greatest abridged after SAO... Hellsing Abridged is one I love as much as it's inspired anime. It a short series around 10 maybe less episodes iirc, but I think it'd be perfect come Halloween season for the channel
Bible story time.
So Cain and Abel are brothers, Adam and Eve's sons. God wanted a sacrifice and Cain brought grain and vegetables from his field, while Abel brought his best bull. God likes the bull better.
Next sacrifice time happens and Cain sacrificed Abel to God, who was pissed off and cursed Cain.
If I recall correctly, Cain Killed Able because he was jealous of the praise God was giving him. Once God discovered it, he was cursed to walk the world forever. God even asked Cain where Able was, and he lied, saying he didn't know and that "You're god, can't you find him?" Or something along those lines.

an amazing recent addition. fully unsettling throughout. Volgun's video even strays from the regular format somewhat. btw, no jumpscares, but it will send frequent chills down your spine and keep you on edge
Imagine waking up randomly, and stepping out of this strange coffin, and then Surrounded by strangers with your last memory being brutally killed by your brother. The images of this person who you've loved all your life becoming violent and spiteful and jealous. It probably traumatized Able to throughly that he only sees Cain when he looks at people.
if memory serves Able was basically the starting point for the writing standards for SCPs to become pretty bad for a while, since i beleive he became flanderised as this cool unstoppable super weapon the foundation will unleash when needed and people just made super powerful human SCPS like Able, and lead to the standards for how one should write SCPS to be WAY MORE scrutinised afterwards
You should do SCP-2128 AKA the Liar's cradle. It's both amazingly creepy and hilariously petty. There's an animated video by dr bob about it.
I highly recommend some of SCP Animated at some point, though he's recently strayed away from doing just SCP content he does art to go with his readings. A lot of my favorites that he's already covered include the Red Pool and other dimension stuff, as well as weird one-offs like the knife crabs and the bathbugs.
You've gotten watch Cain now, their directly related, however after that I would suggest Scp-914, Clockworks, it's one of the more wide spread SCPs that answers and makes a lot of questions in the foundation instead being contained to itself, it's the root of a lot of incidents and other SCPs, though Vulgan doesn't seem to have covered it so you'll have to find some other channel for it...
As someone who can state the story of Cain and Able from memory I'll try my best here to explain the biblical origins.
Able was a shepherd or at least someone who tended livestock. Able was a farmer someone who grew crops. Both of them gave offerings of Thanks to God. Able gave his very best and his very first of is flock and did so quickly and eagerly. Cain gave his offer over the course of time (in other words he drug his heels) and it doesn't say he was happy about giving it. God was pleased with Able's offering which made Cain upset. God came to Cain and consoled and counciled him say (I'll paraphrase here a bit) "why do you look down? Don't you you know that this negative behavior/attitude will only lead you to destruction?" Cain did not listen to God's council and in his anger killed his brother. God came back again and asked Cain where his brother was (God knew he was just testing him) and Cain lied to him. God then cursed Cain so that no crops and plants will grow for him and that any damage inflicted to him would instead be returned to the attacker 7 times as strong.
That is in broad strokes the story of Cain and Able thank you for coming to my Ted Talk and have a great day.
Ok, the line about Cain bringing potato salad to the BBQ is such a fantastic joke. the layers are fantastic.
Cain brought the "fruits of the soil" as his offering, while Abel turned the fattest sheep in his flock into a "Burnt Offering" which essentially means to char it thoroughly and offer the remaining edible meat to God. Man totally brought potato salad to a picnic with god and his brother brought that high quality BBQ and he got butthurt that god didn't like his potato salad. 🤣

That's weird. You would expect The Volgun to explain everything about this scp but he didn't. First of all Able doesn't show any interest in the opposite sex. Although he doesn't talk to much he respects strong opponents that can fight and survive against him. Once he escaped and started looking for a foundation agent who previously killed him. When he found out that the said agen died in another Ketter containment mission. Able stop the rampage and let himself be captured. When asked why he calmed down. He said he wanted to fight that said agent who previously killed him but since now the said agent was dead send by the leaders like a pawn in suicide missions for nothing. He was disappointed and didn't even had fhe urge to kill anymore. Able has great respect against people that are stronger or at least can someone fight him and escape alive. As for the mistake in the introduction. The foundation wanted to make good use of Able,creating the Omega squad where they put Able as a leader of the squad sending him into dangerous missions agains enemy forces. But due to Able violent nature who always seeks violance, to fight and kill , the amout of work wasn't enough for him so he started picking on his team members and that's why they call it a big failure if the scp foundation that they try to forget about. Also dont put Able and Cain together in a room ever. Dont mention Cain to Able ever.
